Bicarbonate of soda might help. Or as BillyM (By the way Welcome to the Forum both of you) said Check your Vent. While you are on top of your coach, check all vents. BE CAREFUL on top of your coach.

Electrical Harness From Coach To "Toad"
hermanmullins replied to lakechuck1962's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
lakechuck1962 Brett is correct, your can purchase a adapter from 7 pin to 4 pin flat at most auto parts houses. But lets make sure what your asking. If you plan on pulling a trailer or dolly the adapter is what you want. But if you are connecting to the 4 pin connector on the rear of your towed vehicle then that is a different matter all together. -
A New Name for Family Motor Coach Association?
hermanmullins replied to rcgoss's topic in FMCA Feedback
Chris, as the real estate folks say, Location, Location, Loaction. You need a place that can accomidate 3 to 4,000 coaches. Plus there are some of our states that have crazy laws about Manufactures Territories. My home state of Texas for one. One thing we all can do is recruit new members. Every time we park in a RV Park I will visit with folks and talk up FMCA. Some people with RVs don't have any idea that FMCA exist. Spread the Word. -
A New Name for Family Motor Coach Association?
hermanmullins replied to rcgoss's topic in FMCA Feedback
rc, you are correct about the savings. It was during Judy's time in office but it wasn't due to her office It was found that there had been an error in IRS payments and the influx of money was due to a refund from IRS. Wouldn't we all like that kind of refund. -

A New Name for Family Motor Coach Association?

Every Chapter member should be talking with their Chapters National Director. Let them know their ideas that might help. Encourage precipitation at all levels. Will there be rough times, yes. Will FMCA survive, YES. -
A New Name for Family Motor Coach Association?
hermanmullins replied to rcgoss's topic in FMCA Feedback
Well said Paul. Most people are against including towable into the Family Motor Coach Association. That being said can you tell the membership what the biggest financial draw is? I would think it might be in the publication of the FMCA Magazine and putting on the National Rallies. 1. Move out of just RV related advertising. Seek out companies that RVer use like AARP, Harber Freight, L.L.Bean, the list can go on and on. 2. Have National Rallies in the early spring so Families with children can attend with their children. They could include the National Rally in their summer vacation plans. 3. Do away with having a National Rally every year and only have one great big one every three or five years. This way people will know that there will be something new and exciting when they come. People don't want to schedule going to the same thing every year. 4. Have put emphases into the Area Rallies each year. 5. Go to another limited offer of Life Time Membership. Set a price and allow members to pay it out over 1 year or even 18 months. Just that alone would bring in a monthly cash influx. Just my thoughts. Herman Mullins Vice President Lone Satr Chapter of FMCA -
Helene and Roch, Welcome to the Forum. Sorry that the National schedule and yours wont be meshing this year. You do bring up a Valid point. FMCA stands for Family. In these times when we are trying to maintain and grow membership it would be good to look at scheduling National Events when families can come and bring their children. At present time there is nothing that can be done for this year but it is something that should be considered for future events. Check into Association and Chapter Rallies that you can attend with your childern. Good Luck and may your children have a wonderful year. Herman Mullins

A New Name for Family Motor Coach Association?
hermanmullins replied to rcgoss's topic in FMCA Feedback
No Bill that is not a good idea. However just like everything in life, every one wants to be equal. Once they get to be equal they will segregate them selves to be with other that are like themselves. I have a feeling that just like friends in FMCA go some where they want to park close to one another. Just like Chapter members that go to Area or National Rallies they want to park as a group. I would be willing to bet that if Towables go to a Motor Home Rally they would like to be parked with other towables. Only natural. At the same time who knows if a towable is parked with M/Hs it may spark them want a M/H. Do I want to allow Towables in FMCA? No Do I want to allow Towables to be able join as non-voting members? No Would I want to have Towable attend Rallies but not as Members? To me that would be OK Would I continue to support FMCA if Towables were allowed to join? Yes Every one need to talk with their Chapters National Director and let them know how you feel. If you are not a member of Chapter (you should be), then contact your Area VP. A complete list of the Executive Board is in the January 2012 Addition of Family Motor Coaching along with their email addresses. Communicate your thoughts to them. We all love FMCA are we would not still be members. Regards, Herman Mullins Vice President Lone Star Chapter of FMCA -

Step Well Cover, 2002 Journey DL
hermanmullins replied to actionjackson's topic in Type A motorhomes
Action, Welcome to the Forum. I had a step cover problem one time. Here is what I found. My step cover also had an air cylinder. What happened was the bolt that held the end of the cylinder broke. You could move the cover by hand both in and out. I removed the top of the cover and the end (that is where the cylinder attaches) of the cover. The cylinder is connected to the air lines by quick disconnects. I removed the cylinder. It was mounted to the pan by a bolt that had broken. I got a much longer bolt and attached it to the cylinder end and secured it with a nut (really tight). Then I reconnected the air lines and stuck the long bolt through the bolt hole in the pan. Then I crawled under the coach and secured the bolt with a nut & lock washer. When you put the bolt on the end of the cylinder and tightened the nut, add several nuts so the bottom of the nuts are even with the bottom of the cylinder. Check the cylinder to make sure it moves correctly and reassemble the end and top. Hope my repair helps your problem. -
Taxman, you made a good choice. As Bill said, why change out good rims that are easy to care for, for Aluminum rims are nice, also expensive. They also take a great deal of work to stay looking nice. You said that you thought the steel rims didn't hold the air as wells as Aluminum. Even if you changed out your steel for aluminum you may still have steel rims on your inside duels. Now shine up those easy to care for Stainless Covers, pack up the coach and take those kids out and make memories that will last a lifetime. Happy RVing.

Brake Light Problem-- Freightliner Chassis
hermanmullins replied to richardawhite's topic in Electrical
Rich, Welcome to the Forum. I made some inquiries and I believe you need a third number on the end of your part number (06-28598-00?) if it is a '0' then it is a good part number but is hard to find. Such a wiring harness will have both tail, turn and stop lights in the same harness. Do you have Emergency flashers? If you have a connection on the rear of your coach to connect you toad, connect your toad and see if you have brake light on the toad. I don't believe you have a ground problem because if you did, none of your tail lights would work. I am basing this on the fact that most Tail and Stop lights are in the same bulb.To check for a ground remove the bulb and check the rim of the connection to known ground on your coach. If you have continuity then you do not have a ground problem. I know this is a dumb question but are your sure your bulbs are OK? R.M. I have never heard of diodes in a vehicle wiring harness (of course I learn something new every day). I do know and have diodes on my toad (I wired them in myself) to keep the reverse current from flowing back into the toads computer (big problems if that happens), but not in my coach. -
wig, Welcome to the Forum. Your Maxx Force 10 may not require the DEF but some Diesel Engine Mfg.s do requite the DEF.

Gentlemen I believe I saw an article in the FMCA Mag. on this topic. Check out the archives. It is new in the last couple of years

The almighty has come to the rescue of the enviroment with Diesel Exhaust Fluid. Greatful I have 2002 400 ISL Cummins. Keep it serviced right and it is good to go.

Ronnie, That is an excellent report. No doubt it will help many people out there. Thank you.

Does anyone out there have AARP for secondary coverage? My 96 year old mother has it and it seem to do well for her. My wife is still working and we have BC/BS through her company. She will be retiring this yaer and will need to get part 'B' and secondary. I have VA to cover my Meds., but I will probably join her with the secondary coverage.

Good thought WillTroy. Be sure you give your assistant a good flash light, so they can look at the latch to see if it is fully engaged. If you can, open up the cover to your latches check to see if they are moving all the way up and down. If not WD-40 to clean them and then a good silicone lubricant.

Brenda, your welcome. Since your mirrors have metal covers you should be able to lightly sand and refinish them. Be sure to apply a clear coat to help keep the new finish looking good.
