  1. I have a friend that drives and tows a Chevrolet Colorado automatic 4X4. He was told he needed a drive shaft disconnect because the drive shaft turning in the transfer case would not lubricate the trans. Has any one heard of this before? I towed Yukon 4X4 many miles and no problems. Lets hear your thoughts.
  2. If you had that kind of problems with a brand new coaches front end, it has to be out of alignment. If the coach wanted to wander it most likly needed the toe end checked. My last 2 coaches have had solid front axles and I have head no problems. Our first coach had IFS and it was OK but as I moved up in length the driving got better and better.
  3. I know that Terry Bison Ranch is a nice RV Park with other attractions but I don't know if they have trail rides. I will check with my son this AM to see. You might check around the Cody, WY area.
  4. Bill, I am not too sure how far it is to Oregon from San Jose, but if each tire cost $400.00 each or $2,400.00 for a set of 6 your Tax would be $198.00. How much would you save by traveling that far? You would need to purchase fuel $$, Parking $$, and , meals $$. Fuel at $4.00 per gallon two nights in RV Parks $35.00 per night. However if you were going to go to Oregon and further up the coast for a vacation trip then it might be worth it. By the way how much is the Tax in Oregon? Not trying to be a smartalic, just trying to save you some money. Good luck.
  5. Nelson, Welcome to the Forum. Not knowing what coach you have limits responses. For Shocks I would look to a truck shop. Preferably one that works on your chassis or engine. If you have room in your bays might I suggest that you carry one of the better tires you take off and carry it for a spare should you have tire problems while out of the states.
  6. Michlin has a program through FMCA. If you look at Goodyear G 607s ask you dealer about their rebate per tire. When I bought my G670s the dealer got me a $50.00 per tire rebate. One thing I have found since I became this old person is that alot of Senior & Veteran, gets you a discount. Its "Don't ask, don't tell", if you don't ask they wont tell you about any discounts.   7. Whoachubby, You are most likely running 6 each 275/70R-22.5 tires or there abouts. You did not say what year coach you have. If your coach has the original tires and your coach is over 6 years old, you are in need of replacing your tires. 6 to 7 years is max for RV Tires. They may look good with deep tread but looks can be deceiving. I just replaced the tires on my coach and boy did they look good. No crazing on the side walls with wonderful tread, but when they were taken off the rims and were leaning against the wall I look down between the treads. There were crack and crazing all the way around all of the tires. If that size tire were to have a blow out, you can have damage far beyond the cost of the tire. One friend-one blow out= $7,000.00 damage to his coach and two months in the shop. BE SAFE, check out the dates.
  8. Rob, question 1 can be a loaded question. What might be a Luxury RV Resort to one person might be having full hook up. To date the nicest RV Park/Resort was in Pagosa Springs, CO. Wolf Creek Run. They only have 27 spaces but it is out of this world. $50.00 per night, with Hi & Howdy (Happy Hour) 3 nights a week, Continenal Breakfast each morning. Hi & Howdy is bring your own Adult Beverage of Choice, but when you get there they have appetizer that are out of this world. Their Cont. Breakfast is Home made biscuits and gravy with home made sweet rolls. And to top it off the owners are the nicest couple you will ever meet. Try www.rvparkreview.com there are personal reviews of parks all over the country. But remember what is outstanding for one may be much different to another.
  9. Well Oscarpower, Welcome to the Forum. If we were going on this adventure here is how we would go. 1. I-25 north to Cheyenne, WY, our son and family live there. Take Hwy 85 north out of Cheyenne (Check map for Exact connection) to Newcastle, WY. 2.Hwy 16 East out of Newcastle to Custer, SD. Wonderful small town. 3. Out of Custer you can see Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Mouniment, Rapid City, and Sturgis.(Don't go in August) 4. Take I-90 towards Buffalo, WY. Along the way you can stop at Devils Tower. 5. From Buffalo Take Hwy 16 Worland to Thermoplis, WY. Neat small town where you can visit the Hot Bath Houses. 6 Take Hwy 120 from Thermopolis to Cody, WY. Plan several day here. Buffalo Bill Historical Center. 1 to 2 days. 7. Take Hwy 14/16 to the East Entrance of Yellowstone. 8. Leave Yellowstone by the South Exit into BridgerTeton National Forest then into Jackson, WY. 9. Leaving Jackson take Hwy 190 south to Rock Springs Wy. From there you can decide to go on West or Back East. 10. Going back East on I-80 to Cheyenne you will have some strong cross winds. The locals say that if the engineers followed the Indian trail they would have missed most of the wind. You are planning a wonderful trip. Enjoy your retirement and have great time.
  10. Rob, Let me tackle Q. 3. What pressure is the Harbor Freights Compressor rated for? What pressure do you need for your coach tires? I have a very nice Porter Cable Pancake Compressor, (120 psi). Works great for all of my air nailers and staplers. Just yesterday I was prepairing my coach for a trip and needed to top off my tires, 90 psi Front and 95 Rear. That little compressor worked its but off and did top off my tires (8), and it only took 45 minutes. My 60 gallon compressor was back in my garage. If you are wanting a compressor tho carry with you the 26Gal might be a bit large, and a smaller one would be better to take in the coach. However if you are looking for one to leave at home in the garage or shop, I would opt for the bigger one. Part 2, yes the 26Gal would be fine for blowing out your water lines.
  11. Whoacbuddy, If your coach is 10 years old and you have been pleased with the ride so far. I would consider staying with the brand that came with the coach. There are some very good shocks out there and you need to decide which ones suit you. I say this so in the future when you are complaining " " about the ride you wont say "Well Herman Recommened these shocks". :lol: Good luck and smoother riding.
  12. Well no wonder. Alligators tend to do that to tires. Brett is correct, You would have to have had a very hard hit to your front end to create a camber problem. If your solid axle camber was the cause, your tires would be worn evenly all the way around your tire. Camber would cause the wheel to be leaning either in or out. Leaning in at the top would cause the tire to wear on the inside and out at the top would cause the tire to wear on the outside of the tread. Cupping would come from Balance or shocks. If all of your tires are the same age, have them rotated and have them all, front and rear, balances. By putting tires from the rear you can then tell if you still have cupping.
  13. peterdube, Welcome to the Forum. You can purchase the vents at almost any RV supply store. In the Dallas/Fort Worth area there is United RV in Ft Worth and Camper Capitol in Dallas.

  16. Bicarbonate of soda might help. :lol: Or as BillyM (By the way Welcome to the Forum both of you) said Check your Vent. While you are on top of your coach, check all vents. BE CAREFUL on top of your coach.
  17. lakechuck1962 Brett is correct, your can purchase a adapter from 7 pin to 4 pin flat at most auto parts houses. But lets make sure what your asking. If you plan on pulling a trailer or dolly the adapter is what you want. But if you are connecting to the 4 pin connector on the rear of your towed vehicle then that is a different matter all together.
  18. Chris, as the real estate folks say, Location, Location, Loaction. You need a place that can accomidate 3 to 4,000 coaches. Plus there are some of our states that have crazy laws about Manufactures Territories. My home state of Texas for one. One thing we all can do is recruit new members. Every time we park in a RV Park I will visit with folks and talk up FMCA. Some people with RVs don't have any idea that FMCA exist. Spread the Word.
  19. Sorry Cleanlivin, but even you blog name contradicts you statement. If you are going back to full timing and you profess to love taking pictures, slow down, at 70-02 MPH you have to pay so much attention to the road you will miss many great shots. Just my thoughts.
  20. rc, you are correct about the savings. It was during Judy's time in office but it wasn't due to her office It was found that there had been an error in IRS payments and the influx of money was due to a refund from IRS. Wouldn't we all like that kind of refund.

  22. Every Chapter member should be talking with their Chapters National Director. Let them know their ideas that might help. Encourage precipitation at all levels. Will there be rough times, yes. Will FMCA survive, YES.
  23. Well said Paul. Most people are against including towable into the Family Motor Coach Association. That being said can you tell the membership what the biggest financial draw is? I would think it might be in the publication of the FMCA Magazine and putting on the National Rallies. 1. Move out of just RV related advertising. Seek out companies that RVer use like AARP, Harber Freight, L.L.Bean, the list can go on and on. 2. Have National Rallies in the early spring so Families with children can attend with their children. They could include the National Rally in their summer vacation plans. 3. Do away with having a National Rally every year and only have one great big one every three or five years. This way people will know that there will be something new and exciting when they come. People don't want to schedule going to the same thing every year. 4. Have put emphases into the Area Rallies each year. 5. Go to another limited offer of Life Time Membership. Set a price and allow members to pay it out over 1 year or even 18 months.
