  1. Welcome to the Forum, I sent you a message. Your are right. To get RV knowledge just Google "RV Knowledge" and Brett's name will pop up.
  2. Bill Adams, My house appreciates evey day. It appreciates that I mow the grass. It appreciates that I fix the door. It appreciates everything I do for it. There are a lot of Gas coaches out there and they do a fine job, while there are some that don't do such so good. jbric008 said the he now has a Holiday Rambler 37 foot coach with a Ford (Fix Or Repair Daily). In my openion he has too much coach for his engine. 34 feet should be the limit for gas coaches. Also the Ford V10, which I beleive jbric008 has, had lots of problems early on. They have improved it in the past few years though. Gas and diesels both can do just fine when they are matched with the correct size coach. jbric008 needs to take a trip into the mountains and show his wife what he believes is the problem. That might help explain to her what you are saying. Good luck and Merry CHRISTmas and a Happy New Year
  3. ramblinboy, you might call the KOA where your kids got the wood and ask them. I have seen some where an article on making fire starters cubea but for the life of me Ican't remember where. Try to Google fire starter. To keep the smoke off you, you can make some type of wall behind the fire. A piece of Plywood propped up behind the fire (Not in the fire) will cause the smoke to climb the wall and away from you.
  4. deen_ad I am indeed sorry for your family's loss. Your grand children are fortunate to have y'all in their lives. You are correct that most chapter have their rallies during the week. May I suggest that you write a post here on the Forum addressing this point and see if there is enough interest in forming a "Weekend Chapter, Children Welcome" there in the Pacific Northwest. I believe you will get enough people to respond that you could form a chapter up there. You might start by contacting one of the following: Bud & Marje Fouts Kent & Karen Pratt Neil & Bobbi Radford Puyallup, WA Royal City, WA Aberdeen, WA budandmarje@msn.com karenkpratt@aol.com nrad4d@yahoo.com They are Board Members of the "Northwest Area of FMCA. I'm sure they will glad to help in any way they can.
  5. A short Video for all who have traveled through West Texas only on the Interstate. http://player.vimeo.com/video/22132017
  6. fckrueger and Duanelin Welcome to the Forum. Duane is correct (more or less), unless you are talking about Toretravel. Not many people know what their numbers mean. Most times the number mean length. Sometimes the letters mean floor plan, number of slides, etc. As you see coaches ask what their numbers mean. Good Luck.
  7. Gas or diesel. Air brakes or hydraulics. There are very good Tow vehicle brakes for both. You can have systems that are mounted to your toad and you can have units that you put in when towing and remove when driving you toad. That is what I ment when I asked Charle 10 what coach he has.
  8. rdrohr, Welcome to the Forum. It is possible that what you have is a General Motors Ignition switch. It should have a recessed Chrome Bezel. The bezel should have notches on the sides of the recess. Most of the time you can take a pair of needle nosed pliers and spread the tips to fit into the notches and tighten the bezel on the switch. Since the switch is mounted on Fiberglass there isn't a locator notch to keep the switch from turning. I have to tighten mine quit often. Hope this helps.
  9. Paul, Let mer offer a suggestion. Advertising revnue. All the add.s in the Mag, are geared to Coches. Which is good. However there are a lot of Ad dollars that address issues most of us need. Harbor Freight spends a lot of ad dollars in many publications. RVers need tools. How about the AARP. WalMart, Sams, Cosco. Whats the Company that Is always in the AARP Mag for clothing. Then there is Gander Moutain, Bass Pro. Even the boating industry. There are so many thing out there that don't shout RV but if presented right can benifit the RVing public. FMCA may be approching these advertizers now but as a salesman for over 40 years when times are hard you get out there and sell, sell, and sell some more. Just my thoughts put down in writing. Merry CHRISTmas to all and a Happy New Year.
  10. Charles10, Welcome to the Forum. A braking system on your toad depends a lot on what coach you have.
  11. I beleive it was in Hinkley, Ohio around 1963 a group of familes got together and thought, wouldn't it be nice if we could do this more often so our kids can have fun with kids and families from lots of different places. The key word seemed to be FAMILY. Today many of those kids now have their own families and are now empty nesters that still love the get togethers with their friends at Rallies. But if you look around now it seems to be Older Family Motor Coach Association. FMCA needs to put alot more infise in Family. International Meeting need to be during vacation time so families can come and bring their children. Each and everyone of us needs to recruit younger families into FMCA. How about starting new chapters for People with children. They can hold their rallies during spring breaks and summer vacations. In places where their children can have fun and enjoy. I love all of the friends we have made in our Chapters. But the one thing that is missing are the children. Maybe Chapters need to look at holding their Rallies at those times and start bringing the Grand Kids. I know my Grand Kids keep us young. What I am saying is to bring back the Family to Family Motor Coach Associstion. (Pardon my Spellin)
  12. My Sister and brother in law have a 2002 Georgie Boy Suite (28') and it came with only 30 amp service in the coach but with a 50 amp power cord. Maybe that is what Chrisg has.
  13. cwmodlin1, Welcome to the Forum. Does this occur at different Parks or just 1? I don't know if there are any places where the power is still the old Delta System. I know that it will spike at the most opertune times. Check with the your Inverter Mfg. and see what they have to say. Also check your power cable and the plug on the coach. Some times the connections become loose over time and they can also oxidize. A loose or correded connsction can give you a problem.
  14. Sorry that you have not gotten a response to your post. By having your own ODBl you must do most of your own repairs and you just need help locating the sensor. A call to my local Ford Truck Dealer would be my first place to start. They may have a service bulliten on your problem, if not I am sure they can tell you where the sensor is located. It may be as simple as reprograming your ECM. Good Luck. (You will get help soon)
  15. Some say tomatoe some say toemotoe. Have a good one.
  16. GK Smith, Welcome to the Forum. As Brett said check with the maker of the gauge. Yours will be an electric gauge and if I understand them, they record mileage from the same source as the speedometer. It sounds as if there is a problem with the odometer led or lcd. The gauges in my Monaco are Beede and you can google them. If you have the owners packet for your coach there may be a chart of all parts purchased and who the vendor was.
  17. Here we are, still in Van Horn. This city is not one of the best tourist sites to visit. Hotter then the depths of ---- in the summer and colder then a witche' ---. Most people going through Van Horn and needing a stay longer then 3 or 4 hours will stay at the local RV park. Most RVers know that at todays prices of fuel ($3.95+) a short stop to rest for 2 or 3 hours only cost about $12 to 15.00 to run the gen set. Longer then they will go to the park. So what the city mothers and fathers have done is caused the local RV parks and businesses to lose money. But hey now they don't have to worry about those very bad elements like RVers loitering in their wonderful pristine city.
  18. There is an member of FMCA, that will remain unknown, that says to go ahead and drill holes for your sign on the front of your coach. If someone that is a member of FMCA buys the coach, the hole will already be there. If they aren't members they may join to get their own egg to cover the non faded area and holes. Who knows it might work. If I don't have the opportunity later on, "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" May all of your travels this season and in the future be safe and with good health. :D
  19. With their attitude it might get slower. But hay, you will be able to drive a little faster now that there wont be any RVs slowing down the town folks.
  20. Rx2Sail, Welcome to the Forum. Your King Dome will work with either Dish or Direct. There are some step switchs in the dome that can be set to either one.(Google Winegard with your dome and you can get the manuel on how to make the switches). Your TV may already be HD. However if it isn't it will still work on the satellite. You should not have to do anything to watch TV. If you do want HD your will have to replace your dome with an automatic dish. Winegard has what you will need on their web site. Do you now have either Dish or Direct TV? If you do you can take a receiver from your home and put it in your coach when you travel. If you have Direct I beleive you can watch every thing they offer because they use only 1 satellite. Dish uses 2 satellites 110 and 119 and your dome will cycle between the 2. I hope this helps and if I have stated something wrong you can rest assure that someone will correct me. Good Luck.
  21. I love the maintenance free products. No dip stick, your transmission is maintenance free. Dealer service man's quote "You ruined your transmission because your fluid was LOW". Your maintenance free battery is bad because you didn't keep the water level up. What does Chrysler say about having your No Dip Stick serviced? Is it every 30, 40 or 50K miles. When they drain the fluid how do they know how much fluid to replace? I have always said that before an automobile engineer can design cars or drive trains they have to spend at least two years in a auto repair shop. I think we would then have a lot of different setup and designs. Just a thought, again, from the cheap seats.
  22. Larry, Welcome to the Forum. If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost for the shop to reprogram you ISL? I am assuming that you had a 350 HP Cummins? What were you getting in MPG before the reprogram? At present time I am getting 6.7 to 6.9 MPG from my 400 ISL and a increase of almost 1 more mile per gallon might be worth looking into. Thanks
  23. jcsb, Welcome to the Forum. Maybe it is just me but I feel that Car manufactures deliberately do thing to discourage towing. That being said I have always gone by smell and not color of transmission fluid. If you have ever smelt burnt tans. fluid you will never forget it. While on the subject has anyone ever thought why they don't put an external filter on transmissions? It could be changes every time you change your oil and they could sell a lot more Filters and Fluid (but a lot less transmissions). Just a thought from the cheap seats.
  24. Ron, one thing to calculate is return on investment. If the chip will increase milage from your 7.0 MPG to say & 7.1MPG, how long will that increase take to pay for itself? Just a thought. What Brett will tell you on Cats, you can take to the Bank.
  25. Ron, Welcome to the Forum. Any one in Garfield, Minnesota. Probaly not at this time of year. To look at diesel pushers try www.mrolivers.com He is in Texas but has some really nice coaches and presents them well on his web site. Another dealer is some very fine coaches is Motor Homes of Texas. www.motorhomesoftexas.com And Texas is almost as close as Minnesota
