  1. A federal license is not a bad idea if it required that the person requesting a federal or national license must hold a fishing license from the state they reside in. This way the state they reside in would still receive the revenue from residents and a couple of bucks from each federal or national license sold. However this would require another government bureau to over see the distribution of the funds. And do any of us know how much of a budget that would take. By the time all was said and done there would not be any money left for the states to share. The only way for folks to be able to fish in other states would be for each state to have a fee, for 2 or 3 days, that was small enough that more people would purchase their license rather then say "with a fee that much I will just not fish". Just my thoughts.
  2. Brett is correct. It is a fairly easy job for a DIY person. Jacks, jack stands are a must. Either way it wouldn't hurt to have your coach weighted, each axle (each wheel would be better). Then if you decide on new springs the spring maker will know the weight requirements or with the air bags you would know what pressure to maintain.
  3. Chuck & Connie, Welcome to the Forum. You can go to Camping World and they will replace your air bags. I beleive thay are made by Goodyear. Be sure and have them put the remote fill connections under your hood so you wont have to crawl under your coach to check the pressure. Good Luck
  4. Look this fine country over and you will find a better place just over the next hill. The grass is going to be better over the fence. This why we all take to the road and travel this country of ours. I never feel that I have found the best food. If I had there wouldn't be any reason to try the next place. So keep looking. I will try lots of the places that have been posted here.I know that some day we are going to turn a corner and see some place that I will say "I know that place, someone posted it on the Forum, let check it out." Keep posting and I will try my best to keep eating. Happy New Year to all and Happy Travels and Eating.
  5. bizsmith, M & G has a system for Hydraulic Brakes. It has what is called a "Power Pack". The power pack is wired into the coach and draws it power from the coach and not the toad. It works with a controller like those used on electric brakes. It still has an air line connected between the coach and toad. There is still the problem with space under your toads hood. To be able to use the M & G Braking system, your master cylinder must be able to move approx. 4 inches away from the power brake booster to allow for the cylinder and not interfere with the closing of your hood.
  6. I bow to the Master. But I still think that if there is a M & G unit that will fit your vehicle, that is the best road to take.
  7. For all that do not know about the M & G brake. The M & G unit sits between the power brake booster and the master cylinder. When the brake is applied on the coach it applies the same amount of pressure to the toad. Think of this, have you ever tried to stop a vehicle with power brakes when the engine quits. It takes a lot of pressure to stop. That is the same with any braking system that applies pressure on to the brake pedal. There is no power drain on your battery either with the M & G.
  8. My perfect resolution. Make none, Brake none. Happy New Years to all.
  9. Charles10, sorry but before I forgot to say Welcome to the Forum. Since you have a diesel coach with air brakes might I suggest the M and G Engineering brake unit. www.m-gengineering.com This unit is air operated and you only have to connect an air line and a disconnect cable between coach ah toad. There is nothing to move in front of the drivers seat and worry about running your battery down. What do you have on the toad, 4X4, pump or disconnect? We have the Remco drive shaft disconnect. It was done by Drive Shaft King in Dallas, TX. Google them and ask for David. Also check and see if your Chevy truck does or does not have a steering wheel lock. Some don't and if your does not then all you have to do after hooking up is remove the key and lock the doors until you need to use the tow again. Hope this helps and again welcome to the Forum.
  10. Hey Fleetwood, have you seen this post? But its not just Fleetwood, they all make them the same. Their logic is "see how easy it was to put that thing there before we put in the flooring.". Now when we install the closet you can't see the ugly thing. Oh yea lets put the washer dryer in the closet because we have the space. Then we have room to put in the bath cabinets, which by the way when installed you can only open the washer door just enough to open the washer door. But hey my butt can squeeze by with only a slightest effort. But you have to love them anyway.
  11. Tom, Check with Ray Roberts State Park, Pilot Point, TX. Some friend of our were host there for about six months while their home was being built. (right next door to the park). I understand they are short of help at this point.
  12. rhuffines seem OK that the fan cured his problem. That is all that matters. If he has a problem down the road I will wager he will ask again. He appericates everyones help.
  13. First you get the sheep to sit in your chair. Then you trace the pattern on the sheep. Shear on the lines and glue it to you seat. Simple, no?
  14. Hey oldman, Do you know what chassis you coach has, Workhorse, Ford? If you know which one you can purchase a new harness plug that plugs into you light harness and has the 4 pin connecter on it. Check out your 7 pin connector and see if it is a harness that plugs into your light harness. You might be able to unplug it and take it to a part house and they can match it for you. Or as the others have said you can just purchase an adapter from the parts houses. It should be one piece adapter. Good Luck
  15. Welcome to the Forum, I sent you a message. Your are right. To get RV knowledge just Google "RV Knowledge" and Brett's name will pop up.
  16. Bill Adams, My house appreciates evey day. It appreciates that I mow the grass. It appreciates that I fix the door. It appreciates everything I do for it. There are a lot of Gas coaches out there and they do a fine job, while there are some that don't do such so good. jbric008 said the he now has a Holiday Rambler 37 foot coach with a Ford (Fix Or Repair Daily). In my openion he has too much coach for his engine. 34 feet should be the limit for gas coaches. Also the Ford V10, which I beleive jbric008 has, had lots of problems early on. They have improved it in the past few years though. Gas and diesels both can do just fine when they are matched with the correct size coach. jbric008 needs to take a trip into the mountains and show his wife what he believes is the problem. That might help explain to her what you are saying. Good luck and Merry CHRISTmas and a Happy New Year
  17. ramblinboy, you might call the KOA where your kids got the wood and ask them. I have seen some where an article on making fire starters cubea but for the life of me Ican't remember where. Try to Google fire starter. To keep the smoke off you, you can make some type of wall behind the fire. A piece of Plywood propped up behind the fire (Not in the fire) will cause the smoke to climb the wall and away from you.
  18. deen_ad I am indeed sorry for your family's loss. Your grand children are fortunate to have y'all in their lives. You are correct that most chapter have their rallies during the week. May I suggest that you write a post here on the Forum addressing this point and see if there is enough interest in forming a "Weekend Chapter, Children Welcome" there in the Pacific Northwest. I believe you will get enough people to respond that you could form a chapter up there. You might start by contacting one of the following: Bud & Marje Fouts Kent & Karen Pratt Neil & Bobbi Radford Puyallup, WA Royal City, WA Aberdeen, WA budandmarje@msn.com karenkpratt@aol.com nrad4d@yahoo.com They are Board Members of the "Northwest Area of FMCA. I'm sure they will glad to help in any way they can.
  19. A short Video for all who have traveled through West Texas only on the Interstate. http://player.vimeo.com/video/22132017
  20. fckrueger and Duanelin Welcome to the Forum. Duane is correct (more or less), unless you are talking about Toretravel. Not many people know what their numbers mean. Most times the number mean length. Sometimes the letters mean floor plan, number of slides, etc. As you see coaches ask what their numbers mean. Good Luck.
  21. Gas or diesel. Air brakes or hydraulics. There are very good Tow vehicle brakes for both. You can have systems that are mounted to your toad and you can have units that you put in when towing and remove when driving you toad. That is what I ment when I asked Charle 10 what coach he has.
  22. rdrohr, Welcome to the Forum. It is possible that what you have is a General Motors Ignition switch. It should have a recessed Chrome Bezel. The bezel should have notches on the sides of the recess. Most of the time you can take a pair of needle nosed pliers and spread the tips to fit into the notches and tighten the bezel on the switch. Since the switch is mounted on Fiberglass there isn't a locator notch to keep the switch from turning. I have to tighten mine quit often. Hope this helps.
  23. Paul, Let mer offer a suggestion. Advertising revnue. All the add.s in the Mag, are geared to Coches. Which is good. However there are a lot of Ad dollars that address issues most of us need. Harbor Freight spends a lot of ad dollars in many publications. RVers need tools. How about the AARP. WalMart, Sams, Cosco. Whats the Company that Is always in the AARP Mag for clothing. Then there is Gander Moutain, Bass Pro. Even the boating industry. There are so many thing out there that don't shout RV but if presented right can benifit the RVing public. FMCA may be approching these advertizers now but as a salesman for over 40 years when times are hard you get out there and sell, sell, and sell some more. Just my thoughts put down in writing. Merry CHRISTmas to all and a Happy New Year.
  24. Charles10, Welcome to the Forum. A braking system on your toad depends a lot on what coach you have.
  25. I beleive it was in Hinkley, Ohio around 1963 a group of familes got together and thought, wouldn't it be nice if we could do this more often so our kids can have fun with kids and families from lots of different places. The key word seemed to be FAMILY. Today many of those kids now have their own families and are now empty nesters that still love the get togethers with their friends at Rallies. But if you look around now it seems to be Older Family Motor Coach Association. FMCA needs to put alot more infise in Family. International Meeting need to be during vacation time so families can come and bring their children. Each and everyone of us needs to recruit younger families into FMCA. How about starting new chapters for People with children. They can hold their rallies during spring breaks and summer vacations. In places where their children can have fun and enjoy. I love all of the friends we have made in our Chapters. But the one thing that is missing are the children. Maybe Chapters need to look at holding their Rallies at those times and start bringing the Grand Kids. I know my Grand Kids keep us young. What I am saying is to bring back the Family to Family Motor Coach Associstion. (Pardon my Spellin)
