  1. linda22, I am so sorry to hear about your father. Our prayers are with you. On the outside of your coach there will be several access panels. Behind them are the water heater, refrigerator and one for your furnace. Each one should have a pilot light. They should all be lit. If none are lit then you might not have the propane turned on. Do you have Hot Water? If your coach has been sitting for very long you might have dirt dobbers nest in the burner that needs to be cleaned. "Never in history has so many small things caused so much misery to so many."
  2. Take your usb cable into on of the cell phone stores and have them check out your cable. They will also have a car charger that will fit your GPS and they can plug in your GPS to see if it will charge on a different cable. Hope this helps
  3. Now that is going a little over board telling Norcold what you think of their refig. But hey if someone needs a cover for their heater he has one, may take a little sanding and paint but heck I bet the price would be low.
  4. haljudi, Welcome to the Forum. There are several factors involved here. Is your truck 4 wheel drive? If so does it have a nutral in the transfer case? With that weight of tow you will need a braking system. As far as the steering wheel lock you can do two things. First you may leave the key on in the first position, I beleive that on the Ford the first position does not turn on your accessories, but I may be wrong. Second you can have a mechanic remove the locking pin and you would then be able to remove your key. You will need to connect the lights. There are several ways to do this. You can purchase a light bar that attaches to your vehicle with both magnics or suction cups and straps. Or you can have your vehicle wired with special diaodes so that when you have your coach lights on it will not feed back into the toads electrical system and do harm to the toad. You will hear from a lot of people here and they will all have great suggestion. Good Luck
  5. subman, welcome to the Forum. I have seen them towed but carried on the coach. What would you use a very small luggage rack that mounts to the receiver hitch?
  6. Bryon, Welcome to the Forum. The only thing that I have heard about tinting dual windows, to NOT use gold or silver refective tint. I was told that standard gray or brown shaded tint is OK but the reflective tints will cause the Intert gas between the glas to heat, expand and cause problems to the glass. I have tinted the small windows just above the drivers side and the passenger side with Lemo Shade Tint, the darkest you can get and have had no problem in 5 years. Bryon I hope this helps.
  7. "I know there are not any trees at this place but there will be other dog for you to visit with."
  8. vdiamond47, Welcome to FMCA an the Forum. As you will shortly learn, Norcold has had lots of problems with their 1200 four door units. They have worked very hard to correct the problem with some success. Try calling their tech dept. also go on line to Norcold.com and down load a manual for your unit. In both cases have your model number and serial numbers handy. Hope this helps.
  9. jimkate, There was one unit out that was used by both Rvers and Truckers. It was called Howard Steering. It was both electronic and hydraulic. It worked on the same principal as the trim on an aircraft. Cross winds were never a problem with the Howard Steering Units. And here is the big But, but they are out of business. Good but gone.
  10. A federal license is not a bad idea if it required that the person requesting a federal or national license must hold a fishing license from the state they reside in. This way the state they reside in would still receive the revenue from residents and a couple of bucks from each federal or national license sold. However this would require another government bureau to over see the distribution of the funds. And do any of us know how much of a budget that would take. By the time all was said and done there would not be any money left for the states to share. The only way for folks to be able to fish in other states would be for each state to have a fee, for 2 or 3 days, that was small enough that more people would purchase their license rather then say "with a fee that much I will just not fish". Just my thoughts.
  11. Brett is correct. It is a fairly easy job for a DIY person. Jacks, jack stands are a must. Either way it wouldn't hurt to have your coach weighted, each axle (each wheel would be better). Then if you decide on new springs the spring maker will know the weight requirements or with the air bags you would know what pressure to maintain.
  12. Chuck & Connie, Welcome to the Forum. You can go to Camping World and they will replace your air bags. I beleive thay are made by Goodyear. Be sure and have them put the remote fill connections under your hood so you wont have to crawl under your coach to check the pressure. Good Luck
  13. Look this fine country over and you will find a better place just over the next hill. The grass is going to be better over the fence. This why we all take to the road and travel this country of ours. I never feel that I have found the best food. If I had there wouldn't be any reason to try the next place. So keep looking. I will try lots of the places that have been posted here.I know that some day we are going to turn a corner and see some place that I will say "I know that place, someone posted it on the Forum, let check it out." Keep posting and I will try my best to keep eating. Happy New Year to all and Happy Travels and Eating.
  14. bizsmith, M & G has a system for Hydraulic Brakes. It has what is called a "Power Pack". The power pack is wired into the coach and draws it power from the coach and not the toad. It works with a controller like those used on electric brakes. It still has an air line connected between the coach and toad. There is still the problem with space under your toads hood. To be able to use the M & G Braking system, your master cylinder must be able to move approx. 4 inches away from the power brake booster to allow for the cylinder and not interfere with the closing of your hood.
  15. I bow to the Master. But I still think that if there is a M & G unit that will fit your vehicle, that is the best road to take.
  16. For all that do not know about the M & G brake. The M & G unit sits between the power brake booster and the master cylinder. When the brake is applied on the coach it applies the same amount of pressure to the toad. Think of this, have you ever tried to stop a vehicle with power brakes when the engine quits. It takes a lot of pressure to stop. That is the same with any braking system that applies pressure on to the brake pedal. There is no power drain on your battery either with the M & G.
  17. My perfect resolution. Make none, Brake none. Happy New Years to all.
  18. Charles10, sorry but before I forgot to say Welcome to the Forum. Since you have a diesel coach with air brakes might I suggest the M and G Engineering brake unit. www.m-gengineering.com This unit is air operated and you only have to connect an air line and a disconnect cable between coach ah toad. There is nothing to move in front of the drivers seat and worry about running your battery down. What do you have on the toad, 4X4, pump or disconnect? We have the Remco drive shaft disconnect. It was done by Drive Shaft King in Dallas, TX. Google them and ask for David. Also check and see if your Chevy truck does or does not have a steering wheel lock. Some don't and if your does not then all you have to do after hooking up is remove the key and lock the doors until you need to use the tow again. Hope this helps and again welcome to the Forum.
  19. Hey Fleetwood, have you seen this post? But its not just Fleetwood, they all make them the same. Their logic is "see how easy it was to put that thing there before we put in the flooring.". Now when we install the closet you can't see the ugly thing. Oh yea lets put the washer dryer in the closet because we have the space. Then we have room to put in the bath cabinets, which by the way when installed you can only open the washer door just enough to open the washer door. But hey my butt can squeeze by with only a slightest effort. But you have to love them anyway.
  20. Tom, Check with Ray Roberts State Park, Pilot Point, TX. Some friend of our were host there for about six months while their home was being built. (right next door to the park). I understand they are short of help at this point.
  21. rhuffines seem OK that the fan cured his problem. That is all that matters. If he has a problem down the road I will wager he will ask again. He appericates everyones help.
  22. First you get the sheep to sit in your chair. Then you trace the pattern on the sheep. Shear on the lines and glue it to you seat. Simple, no?
  23. Hey oldman, Do you know what chassis you coach has, Workhorse, Ford? If you know which one you can purchase a new harness plug that plugs into you light harness and has the 4 pin connecter on it. Check out your 7 pin connector and see if it is a harness that plugs into your light harness. You might be able to unplug it and take it to a part house and they can match it for you. Or as the others have said you can just purchase an adapter from the parts houses. It should be one piece adapter. Good Luck
  24. Welcome to the Forum, I sent you a message. Your are right. To get RV knowledge just Google "RV Knowledge" and Brett's name will pop up.
  25. Bill Adams, My house appreciates evey day. It appreciates that I mow the grass. It appreciates that I fix the door. It appreciates everything I do for it. There are a lot of Gas coaches out there and they do a fine job, while there are some that don't do such so good. jbric008 said the he now has a Holiday Rambler 37 foot coach with a Ford (Fix Or Repair Daily). In my openion he has too much coach for his engine. 34 feet should be the limit for gas coaches. Also the Ford V10, which I beleive jbric008 has, had lots of problems early on. They have improved it in the past few years though. Gas and diesels both can do just fine when they are matched with the correct size coach. jbric008 needs to take a trip into the mountains and show his wife what he believes is the problem. That might help explain to her what you are saying. Good luck and Merry CHRISTmas and a Happy New Year
