Let's call them "FMCA to the Rescue Wipes" Herman

Here is where I got the information. I have never seen it but this starter (as pictured) may be one that all the solenoid does is make power contact which spins the motor and by centrifugal it will throw the Bendix into the flywheel. If this is the case then yes the motor may be turning at a very slow rate but without enough RPM and torque to throw the bendix into the flywheel. Installed bad - bench test good - reinstalled bad. Has to be a bad ground. Someone suggested to run a jumper cable from the gen. set to the chassis, has that been done? Speaking of Generator Ground. Take a look at this gen. set. See the tan wire, it is a ground strap added from the gen. slide to the coach chassis. Herman

Brian, If you haven't change your AquaHot yet talk to John about the Propane Unit. From all I have heard it is a really good unit that doesn't require the annual maintenance. If ours was to go out as your did, that is the way i would go. If I remember, when I spoke to John, it was in the same ballpark as he quoted for the reman. We also have the Samsung residential unit and we love it. Now the only thing we use our propane for is our three burner range. We have had our coach for going on 13 years and I have only bought propane twice. Herman

I have two filters on my 400 ISL. When I check mine I will drain, into a clear container, just enough so I can see if there is any seperation of the fuel aka water or trash. I have been very fortunate that I have never found either. Herman

Two comments, I would love to be on the road now. It would be a pleasure to fill the Motorhome, Truck, even the lawn mower with the prices of fuel right now. Second, I have been a member of the NRA for over 40 years and have every issue of American Riflemen since I have been a member, I don't have to worry about toilet paper. (I may even try to sell some) Herman

DTnME, Welcome to the Forum. I am sure like most people, as long as they have T/P and soap, they can stay safe. Those places where you were going will still be there when it is safe for everyone to travel. Enjoy your time to relax get the RV spruced up and ready to go. Till then stay safe, healthy and congratulations on Todd's retirement. Herman

Rich, since the OP has stated that the starter in "running " but not turning the engine over, the only way that could happen is if the plunger has broken off from the lever that engages the bendix. However the OP stated that the bendix was moving while it was being bench tested. Can you see where I'm confused. Herman
-
Rich, I know you know this but here goes. With a starter with the solenoid on top two thing happen when current is supplied. First the solenoid plunged is pulled in which causes the bendix to move to engagement. at the same time as to plunged moves it then engages the Battery power to starter. (via the brass bolt from the battery, through the brass disc. to the brass bolt out to the starter motor) Where I am having difficulty is if the starter it running when energized by the solenoid why isn't the flywheel turning? You can can take the solenoid apart clean and polish the two brass bolts and the brass disc. But that doesn't seem to be the issue. Am I missing something or, sorry, are we getting the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Herman

Rich, thanks for the correction. The picture I showed was all I could find for the 7.5. As always you have a much better search engine then I have. Carl, I agree with what you said however I did not know about holding the Gen. stop to prime. I have always just pushed the Gen. start, wait and boom it has always started. Now as for the 400 ISL in cold weather, now that's another story. My engine doesn't like cold weather and if I haven't plugged in the Block Heater, when I start it , it moans and groans and puff out white smoke and then it will start. Live and learn. Herman

I looked up Onan starters and found that they have a centrifugal bendix and no solenoid on top. So if the started, when installed, runs and the generator won't start either the bendix is not being slung forward enough to engage the flywheel, the engine is turning but not starting or heaven forbid there are no teeth on the flywheel for it to engage. As can be seen in the picture below there is only a centrifugal bendix. Herman

As been said several time before here on the Forum. How is the Ground? I broche this question after something I saw yesterday. I was looking at a 2005 Monaco Signature with a 12.5 KW gen. set. there was a cable attached from the sliding frame of the gen. set to the chassis of the coach. I thought to myself, the owner did not have a good ground on the generator and put the cable there to make sure there was a good ground. Just my 1 and 1 1/2 cents worth. Herman

Did you see the Bendix move when you bench tested the starter? It could be just stuck on the shaft and not being slung into the fly wheel when the starter is activated. Just a thought. Herman

Wayne, I know what you mean. I traveled I-45 between Dallas and Houston for over 40 year. There was never a time that there wasn't construction on the road. It will never be finished until they develop Transporters like they had in Star Trek. Herman

My G/S Pilot/Flying J card is a "Credit Card'. I swipe it at the pump, put in my code, pump my fuel and shut it down then I get a ticket. When my bill comes in I pay it. Just like a C/C but with a code. Herman

I remember the Thomas Register quite well. Had a complete copy in my office at Montgomery Elevator. I got a new set every three years. The old ones made great booster seats for our shorter employees . Herman

Ours are in the returns and we have the same spun glass. Buy it in a roll at WalMart and cut to size (don't replace then as often as we should). Going to do it today. Herman

slidout issues on a 2006 winnebago journey 39 ft

I have a question that is probably not answerable. "Why it is always a GROUND that is loose?" ????????? Herman -
How much from the two coaches will be going into the King Aire? Now is the time when you look and say, "what did I ever need this and that for?". However for every thing we remove we find something to replace it. Herman

Wayne & DB, na-na-naa, coach is out, I polished it this week (takes several days to do it and guaranteed to rain), loaded, fueled up and ready to hit the road tomorrow for about 6 weeks. Bobbie and I really ready to hit the road. Wayne do everything the doctor tells you to and you should be good to go. Herman

Who, What, When, Where or Just Lets Talk

Good luck with the headlight repair and the Ball Joint replacement. With those done you should be good to go in December for your trip. As for Daisy and her going to school with her brother and sister, let us know how that turns out. I have met Daisy and tho very cute she does have a mind of her own and what I remember is that she has a tendency to lead you and Linda not the other way around. Tell her I will have a treat for her in Tucson and she can ride in my cart if she wants to. With the critters on your place sound like you'll need a couple of cats. Really mean cats. We also have an Atomic Clock and we have to change it with the time changes (the radio signal has a hard time getting through our metal building) When and where is the wedding going to take place? And again Congratulations! Herman -
dhealey, Welcome to the Forum. Yes sometimes folks wander from the original post. But most of the time they are asked to return to the OP. Did you happen to notice this is a 6 year old posting. And in all that time the OP has only made 3 postings. Keep with us. Herman

I may be naive, but what is the purpose of posting "TEST"? Herman

All insurance cost too much until you need it. Then it is oh so cheap. Herman

DB, now that it's running do you still have the same fault codes? Herman
