Ha ha! Well, if you have a DirecTV receiver and a DISH Dome you could not watch satellite - unless - the dome is programmable for DirectTV.

Maybe a little clarification. Any dome that can receive DISH Network sattelites can provide HD to an HD Television. Dome antennas cannot provide HD from a DIRECTV satellite, at the present time. Many of the portable domes on the market have DIP switches inside the dome that can be set for the specific satellite system. If the Dome can be set to DISH Network via DIP switches it can provide HD. In this statement ""If any dome can receive Dish HD". Then the RV'ers, should be the same?" I don't understand the last sentence. Edited: I have the Carryout antenna and it is programmed through the DIP switches to received Satellite 110, 119, and 129. I take the VIP-722 from the house on our trips and I use the Carryout. The Carryout dome operates as expected. Once a check switch is done and sets to the coorect switches it will find 1 satellite at a time, either 110, 119, or 129. If I run a second coax off the Carryout it gives me a little more functionality of receiving one station while recording another but only if both stations are off the same sattelite, 110, or 119, or 129. The VIP 722 is also capable of OTA signals and when I program it for OTA they show up in the "GUIDE." there is no need to change the input on the TV to receive the OTA signals, just use the VIP-722 DISH Guide and select a channel. When I do not use two COAX inputs I can still record one channel on the DVR, switch inputs on the TV ad watch an OTA on the TV while the DVR is recording. Works for me, but I would like to simplify an go to the Anser antenna (No "W" in Anser)

I have DISH Network and I use the Carryout portable antenna. If I have a clear sight to the souther sky I have had no difficulty picking up the 3 satellites. There is a new DISH Portable out there called Anser. It uses Sat 72 and receives all dish programming off that satellite - so they say. Any dome can receive DISH HD but only 1 satellite at a time. So the functionality of the recording is limited. I like DISH.

I went a little further on that idea. I took a piece of 1" pvc pipe and cut it to the length of the parking brake shaft. I used a Dremel to cut a slot in the pvc from one end to the other. It snaps over the shaft and keeps anything from depressing the knob. I fear a closepin can be triggered to release if hit just right. I"m also fortunate that my parking brake is on the left side of the steering column on the dash and not on the side like many are mounted. Little feet and fingers can release that rather easily.

All my experiences with GS ESP has been good and believe me there have been a lot of experiences. And as for replacing, if it can be fixed that is the first option but if it cannot it can be replaced. I just had 3 jacks replaced and GS covered it. The Kwikee jacks are not repairable. All the seals are internal and the casing has to be cut to replace them, then re-weld the casing. Can you imagine what that heat will do to the seals. So different things require different approaches. I do understand you frustration and I wonder if it was just that camping world that did not know how to approach the repairs so that GS would cover them.

I'm in So. Cal. and our dash AC was not working on our last 250+ mile jaunt. I'm in Oceanside CA and there is not a mobile repair anywhere in the area that will service the dash AC. We'll be taking our trip back to home with house AC running and maybe I can find a Freightliner place along the way that can look at it. When does it all stop, repairs that is.

Carl, If you get a Prevost my DW will leave me and ride with you. However, I asked her one day if she knew what the difference is between a Prevost and our "Citrus." She asked what and I said, "How much it costs in repairs." Go figure. We have Kwikee jacks (on the MH) and we have had problems since 2011 and still ongoing. They are owned by PowerGear. Someone once told me that the majority of jack systems out there are all made by Lippert. I wonder if that is true.

Especially lube all joints. If one is sticking because of lack of lube it will most definately cause the mis-roll.

Yes, works well. I used it a few times on the second output of a Carryout for a second tuner. DW doesn't like it very much -thinks it's ugly. It does work.

I have read where some MH users by a plastic runner strip placed under the slide while it is coming in. The slide rests on the plastic and keeps the mark from appearing. I guess one has to see how it comes in and if it will not jam up on the plastic strip. Make and models differ.

I wish we had the new RV when Rita hit. Instead we departed in the car. Left Texas City and 15 and 1/2 hours later arrived Luftkin 150 miles away. Luckily we had reserved a motel room but Rita was a Cat-1 through Luftkin. For Ike we had the new MH and didin't even have TOAD connectivity yet. DW followed me in the car and we went to Willis, TX. Not far enough. Cat-1 came through Willis and we were without power. Four days later without power I decided to move to get fuel, Barely made it to a gas station near Austin that had power and fuel. Quite a line waiting. Fortunately our departure from Texas City and Ike was 72 hours before landfall. No traffic problems at all in the MH. I'm not sure about everyone else but I learned - leave early and no later than 72 hours.

Carl, I had a similar situation a couple years ago and the stop engine light came on. I stopped and got it towed 40 miles to a Cummins dealer. Came out that it was a broken wire at the engine harness. If it had to be ordered from Winnebago it would take 6 weeks for them to remanufacture it. Fortunately they were able to fix it instead of replace it. I have been told that the coolant sensor level is attached to the "fill" tank. You may want to check around that area for a loose connection. Friend of mine ran into that situation once.

I always use the truck lane Bill. Ray, Think Sarnia crossing. I really had to maneuver the mirrors around some steel pillars.

Yep, I know the width does not include the mirrors but one should know, especially watchful at those toll booths. I've been through a few that I had to maneuver the mirrors around side to side.

Yes they would build a coach that cannot travel on many of the roads. However - I don't think anyone has ever been cited. For reference: RV Roadtrips article. My 2008 is 102" and then add the mirrors of about 12" each side. I have never been questions by any authorities. I guess if they stopped me for some infraction they could through in overwidth.

Ray, happy to hear everything is okay and no one hurt. When Hurricane Rita hit our area we evacuated but not far enough. We had to run the Genny for 4 days, then shut down and try to find fuel. We did, but it was harrowing. That was our very first time out in the MH. As Herman stated, we also fill up before it goes into storage and not only for the "in case of" need of the Genny but to keep condensation in the tank to a minimum. Glad everyone is safe.

Wouldn't it be best to follow the manufacturer's recommendations? Who makes most jack components?

My system manual states to hold the stop button until the green light blinks. This will activate the fuel pump, then puts the start. Once you have it running and shut it down as others have indicated, starting by just pushing the start button seems to work fine. Only when it hasn't been run for a time to use the stop as a fuel pump activator. (But then that is my manual) Onan 6k

I carry a soldering iron with me, but I'll still wait until I get back home. It's not wobbling now and if I screw somthing up I'd like to be where I can put it in the shop and not worry about it. Also, at the house I have a 1200 watt soldering iron. It will fix radiators. Problem is the tip is most likely to big. Worse case scenario is I'm out a few beers and pay for a new mirror support/system. Thanks all.

Thanks for all the good information. We made the 274 mile trip with the shims and tape to hold the shims in place. All is well. No wobble. I'll keep my eye on it for the rest of the trip and if it starts to wobble - gorilla tape is on the horizon. Thanks.

Texas is EZ Tag. Only debited when used. Populate the EZ Tag with $40 and leave it there forever. As you use it tolls will be deducted. When it gets down to around $15 it will populate to $40 with the CC card or bank account selected when registering. It sh\ure would be nice if there was one toll system throughout the U.S. eh?

I'm sure not average. 2008 other MH with 55k on it is 10-11k miles a year. I guess that happens when you live on the SW Coast and travel East one year and West the next and back and fourth. Better to run them motors than to let them sit.

Different states, different rules and regulations. My state has Class C CDL. No Class X available. Thank goodness for reciprocal agrrements.
