  1. I think the Banks up grade would be the best bang for the buck. I always recommend used. Look at PPL for ideas. Bill
  2. The only negative I see is will it block access to the engine through the floor? As kaypsmith said they are available in different size. Bill
  3. You are going to have some loss over time with any system using oil and moving rubber seals. Now I would bet a cold 6 pack that Herman's oil isn't down over .10 from the full line. Now if it keeps going down at a fairly fast rate like every 2000 miles it is time to dig deeper. Bill
  4. Well a lot depends on how long you plan on keeping this coach. The Banks set up will give a good improvement. I would look at a tuner to help with performance. Talk to Banks they may have more ideas. After looking at your engine I noticed it is a computer controlled engine so it is harder to bump the timing back to a more pre smog setting. You could add the Single Shot water methanol injection for a little more power on those difficult hills. See if you can find a used Gear venders overdrive to give you more gears on steep hills. I am sure that others will be along with many ways to spend Your money. Bill
  5. Well at least she asked before and didn't ask for forgiveness after. Bill
  6. The Banks system will help with power but most don't see a increase in mileage. I have to bug you about your typo I bet your friend saw a big increase when he went from a V10 to a V20. I couldn't resist. Do you do your own work? You could do a couple other tweaks. Bill
  7. Welcome to the forum. I am assuming you are having it looked at by someone/inspector who knows what to look for. The biggest question is DOES YOUR WIFE LIKE THE FLOORPLAN That is the only big question. The Ford drive train is a proven system. The V10 is a high revving engine but don't worry about it you can't hurt it. Are you buying from a dealer or individual? I would ask about maintenance records (barging item) If from a dealer I would get them to do all the annual maintenance items so you are ready to go and have a base point. Bill
  8. With out knowing what coach I am only guessing. If you put your coach info in your signature you will get better answers. See my signature as an example. Bill
  9. Yes synthetic is compatible with the existing lubricant. How long has it been since it was changed? If you were going to top off with synthetic I would do like Brett suggested and just change it that way you are protected with a better oil. Bill
  10. Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of good info in old post on this forum. You do realize this post is nearly 4 years old. Here is another post you might find useful. http://community.fmca.com/topic/8892-chassis-maintenance-oil-change-recommendation/ If you add your coach to your signature it will help you to get better answers, See my sig as an example. Bill
  11. Welcome to the forum. Here is a link to what someone posted about replacing their AC on a Road Trek. http://community.fmca.com/topic/613-1997-roadtrek-ac-replacement/ Bill
  12. If you can get access try spraying the bearings with a little penetrating oil or any light oil. There is often a small fiber or felt washer on the shaft at the bearing. if you move it away from the bearing and put a paper towel under the shaft to catch drips or overspray while you lube it, (remove when done) it may stop the noise temporarily. If you feel ambitious the motors are probably available on line. Bill
  13. It would be nice to hear back from the OP to see what the problem was. Bill
  14. Welcome to the forum. I don't have much info on Cat but hopefully our resident Cat guru will see your post. Here is another place to post your question. http://forum.dieselrvclub.org/index.php Bill
  15. I had the Blue Ox led's installed (hard wired) so there would be no possible issue if there was a warranty problem. Bill
  16. To many Bill's around. Yes It would have be fun to meet all the people. Ray, I am a little jealous of those with the generator on a slid out, am probably going to have to drop mine to change the belt. Bill
  17. Unfortunately We won't be able to make Perry this time. I expect to be back from "The West" in time to be at the 6 state in OK. By the way I stopped in at the new PPL store in Cleburne TX and it is coming a long. They took over a big car dealership on 174 just before it crosses 67. I had to smile as it use to be a car dealership the space is more cut up. They have taken the separate offices where the salesmen use to take you to "Make The Deal" and turned them into "departments" Fresh water, towing, sewage, ect. They have plenty of room and already have some nice coaches to look at. Bill
  18. Welcome to the forum MarkKrajniak, No it won't record mileage when being towed. Bill
  19. Carl, it is about as far West from the Steak House as Overnight is East. Amarillo Ranch RV Park, 1414 Sunrise Dr., Amarillo, TX 79104, 866-244-7447. Same deal free ride to the steak house. I haven't stayed there but might next time. Bill
  20. Hear is an idea for a rout to bypass the whole Fort Worth area going north. Stay on 281 till you get to 287. I think it is in Wichita Falls. You should be able to find your way home from there. I think 281 may be a better road than 183. I haven't ben out that way in a little over a year. We spent some time in Seymour. Just south of Lampasas where 290 from Austin runs into 281 there is a nice place to stay I have stayed there before. Miller Creek RV Park, US-281, Johnson City, TX 78636, millercreekrvpark.com, (830) 868-2655. 183/121 and North 820 are almost complete where they have added 4 toll lanes in the middle. The only rough spot is where 820 crosses 35W . Well 35 from just before the 121 cut off to north of town is slow because of the construction. If you come up that way stay in the LEFT lane or center lane. The left lane keeps moving mostly. the ones to the right not so much. Unfortunately I will probably miss Perry this time. Yes one of these days our paths will cross. Bill
  21. Looks like you are good I don't think it will freeze ether. Granite OK is kind of out in the middle. I would recommend going up 287 from just north of Fort Worth to Vernon and taking 283 north to Granite. You are in a good position to go north and pick up 40 East if the weather looks good. Just a BIG HEADS UP if you go back down to pick up 20 to go East. DO NOT go on 183 or 30 through the Metroplex instead go south and pick up 20 around the South side of Fort Worth. Follow this around till it takes you to 20 East. This looks longer but you will be much much happier. Good luck and have a safe trip. Bill
  22. This last summer we stayed at Forest Ridge Campground near Ellsworth, 40, Flockamoosen Way, Ellsworth, ME 04605, forestridgecampground.com (855) 299-6969. Nice place and gave us good access to Acadia and Bar Harbor. I wanted to look at Sewall and on Google maps it says it is permanently closed. Blackwoods does show some RV parking but no hook ups. Take your passports with you and go all the way up Rte 1 to East Port Maine . Then cross into Canada to The Roosevelt Campobello International Park. Seaview Campground & Cottages 16 Norwood Rd, Eastport, ME 04631, eastportmaine.com, (207) 853-4471. This is the most eastern campground in the US. You can tell people you have ben Down East as they say in Main. Bill
