  1. The first attachment shows a hero. On a lighter note the second one shows the difference between blizzards in NY and Texas. Bill
  2. I think what we are seeing is the industry is trying to appeal to the first time buyers not the people with experience. Case in point the wave of second bath rooms. This is more for people who haven't spent much time in a RV. The reason is two bathrooms automatically sounds better more desirable to the first timer. Just like looking at apartments or condos or even houses "we liked it but it only had one bathroom". Now they don't understand that in a 40ft coach for instance that space for the second bath has to come out of a limited space. You have to give up something for it. That most often is less counter space and less storage. The other big push is to make them look more spacious. Overhead cabinets that are not as deep both from the ceiling and back wall. This combined with all the lights and even mired surfaces to make it look more open. Bill
  3. If I was replacing my Brake Buddy I would be looking at the Blue Ox brake system as it doesn't use air and has it's own back up battery so it will work if you lose power. http://www.blueoxtowbars.com/products/Patriot_Braking_System,BRK2012 Bill
  4. Practical Or Impractical is in the eye of the beholder. Bill
  5. Welcome to the forum. What year are you looking at to tow? What does the Owners Manual say under towing? If it is a 2016 I would double check as some cars change from towable to not. Bill
  6. Good hope it stays that way. Bill
  7. Jim with your generator on a slide out changing the belt isn't that hard. Well worth doing. Bill
  8. You might want to re think that it has ben cold today only in the 50s but should be 63 on Monday. Yes, yes there are spots available. Bill
  9. Well yes and a little more. http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/preowned-motorhomes-rvs.htm?source=google&jt=1&jap=1t1&js=1&jsid=36861&jcpid=8a8ae4cd468849b401468f42e5ee2e3c&jkId=gcp:se_36861:t_kwd-1349867429:ag_6875677719:cp_116283999:n_g:d_c:cr_20815210959:fi_&gclid=Cj0KEQiA5oy1BRDQh6Wd572hsfkBEiQAfdTPClJN6s4PsAzU65gnUnn8qXpAIquvElpGLdrUizrfct0aAleW8P8HAQ Bill
  10. Here is one more "must be done right" item. Make sure the driveshaft u joints and slip shaft are properly lubricated. The drive shaft on your diesel pusher is short but takes a lot of stress. I think this is worth reviewing. Apply the recommended grease at the grease fitting on the U-joint until the new grease purges from all of the journal cross bearing seals. ◾Do not assume that bearing cavities have been filled with the new lubricant unless flow can be seen around all four bearing seals. If new grease does not purge at all four seals, loosen the bearing cap bolts and regrease until all four cups purge. ◾If new grease still does not purge, replace the U-joint. ◾If a different grease is being used, make sure it is compatible with the old grease and apply extra grease to purge out the old grease. Splined Slip Yokes: ◾Apply grease gun to grease fitting until new grease appears at the pressure relief hole in welch plug at slip yoke end of spline. ◾Cover the pressure relief hole (so that grease can flow easily to the seal) and continue to apply grease until new grease appears at slip yoke seal. These procedures should help prevent costly downtime and U-joint-related equipment failures. Copyright © 1998 Chevron U.S.A. Inc. All rights reserved. Bill
  11. Gunny, if you put your info in your signature(see min and Herman's) it will help get better answers and you don't have to do it every time. There are auto water devises out there if you decide to go with the wet cell golf cart battery's. Something like this. http://www.janwp.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=JANWP&Category_Code=JWPRV Bill
  12. Are they 12V or 6V? The dimensions make me think they are 12V. You can by 6V golf cart batteries at Sam's Club and I think they will do the install. You will probably need a couple more cables to do the hook up. Bill
  13. TCC will build you a new coach and I bet you won't have any problems. Bill
  14. No not my home turf. I actually grew up in far western NY State on Lake Erie. If you are ever up that way I have a few interesting places for you. Hear is one example. Chautauqua Institution, http://ciweb.org/ Just 150 miles East is The Corning Museum of Glass, http://www.cmog.org/ ok so that's two. I did find this app a while ago. You know those racks of brochures in the rest stops? Well hear is one for your computer/phone. Visitor Tips, From their web site, From Certified Folder Display Service, Inc., the largest distributor of visitor information in the US and Canada, Visitor Tips provides a unique twist on destination planning. After selecting a location, swipe through the digital brochure rack to find things to do, accommodations and activities at your next destination, or in your home town! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.visitortips.visitortips&hl=en Hearer is another good one for finding parks you didn't know about http://www.ohranger.com/ CoPiolet is a navigation app that I have used for the last couple of years and has the ability to show you different things along a rout. The good thing you can down load the maps on Wi-Fi and it doesn't use "data" while you drive. Chimani National Parks https://www.chimani.com/ is useful. Bill
  15. Tom, Missoula had 3 different farmer’s markets going on at the same time. Right after you turn North on 93 0ff I-90 there is one of the nicest RV parks. Jim & Mary's RV Park, 9800 US-93, Missoula, MT 59808, jimandmarys.com , (406) 549-4416. Each site was very nicely landscaped and they were all different. If you go up 93 toward Ignatius you will come to the National Bison Range, Dixon, MT 59831, fws.gov (406) 644-2211. When in the area of Ignatius, you should check out Saint Ignatius Mission Church. If you go up far enough, you can end up in Glacier National Park. Enough memories for tonight, next OR,WA and CA. Bill
  16. Thanks for posting that Tom, I wasn't going to add that much info until the OP answered back. I enjoyed touring the Lewis and Clark fort but had to wonder about building a fort that the eaves sloped in to the fort. This means you have to walk through the run off and the mud in the middle of your fort. This when they had 6 days in over three mouths that it didn't rain while they were there. I would add Badlands National park, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Little Bighorn National Monument. You can't miss Yellowstone. I would NEVER be with out my toad. Bill
  17. I think that David & Ruthann are in that group that the RV park is their destination. They go to a park and that is where they stay until they move to the next park. There is nothing wrong with this. They are happy with their life stile and I wish them well. I won't go any where with out my toad. There are so many things to do and see that you can't do in a motorhome. As an example last summer we did North East. in a little over 90 days we drove the Motorhome 5200 miles and the toad over 6000 miles. The ratio was about the same when we went west the year before. The toad gets 30 mpg the coach 8. Bill
  18. Where in NY are you leaving from? Quick and easy routing. Take I-90 West till you can't then turn left go south till you come to I-10 East turn Left go East till you can't then turn left, go north till home. Bill
  19. One thing I forgot to mention. Pull oil samples from both the engine and transmission and have them analyzed BEFORE you change the oil. You want the report back before you change your oil. You want the ability to double check if you get a odd reading on your report. If the report is good you may only need to change the filters on the transmission. Heare are a couple of oil sampling labs. http://www.jglubricantservices.com/ http://www.blackstone-labs.com/free-test-kits.php Bill
  20. Roland, What am I missing? You wanted us to help you pick a route that keeps you out of the bad weather or gets you south as fast as possible right? What are you doing looking at I-40? Do you feel the need to go try to eat the big steak in Amarillo? By the way it is 21 with a freezing fog advisory tonight in Amarillo. Go read my earlier recommendations. Bill
  21. Welcome to the forum. I generally do all my yearly maintenance this time of year so I will be ready to go when the weather warms up. Some people who live up north will do all their maintenance in the fall before they store/winterize their coach. The next question is can/do you want to do some of the things on the list your self? Did you get any maintenance records with the coach? If you don't have any records it might be a good thing to do all the items you listed so you have a baseline. You might find a mobile mechanic that will do it for a cheaper price. Here is a link that talks about some of the maintenance items. It may not apply directly to your coach but is informative. http://www.rvtechmag.com/tech/43_chassissvc.php?pg=all Bill
  22. You may still be OK. Take a small punch/center punch and try to back the easy out up. They don't catch much and you may get it to pop out just taping it with a hammer. I have used a broken tap extractor to get a broken ease out to come out. Bill
  23. I wonder why the population in my area is growing so fast. Did I mention no state income tax. Bill
  24. I visited with them when we had a Rally down there in the Madena lake area. One of the group had some work done before and was planning on getting some other stuff done. They seamed happy with the work. Looked like a good well run place doing good quality work. Bill
