Adapting New/modified Rims & Tires To 1973 Revcon 23' Motorhome
wildebill308 replied to bragan33's topic in Modifications
Why do you think you need such a hi capacity tire? The originals in your post were at best = to load range "E" or about 2790@80 psi. I found 16" tiers that will match or exceed that load and you can step up to load range "G" for a capacity of 3415@110 psi. Replacing with 16" rims is going to be easier and a lot cheaper than having someone cut and weld rims. You can buy 19.5 rims with out going through having someone cut and weld rims that may or may not be true. Do you have 6 or 10 lug rims? By the way you need a 265/70R 19.5 load range "G" at 105 psi to cover your 4800lbs. Bill -
How fast were you driving? Speed cost fuel mileage. You might like to read this thread. http://community.fmca.com/topic/3324-ford-v10-gas-mileage/ Bill

KW T300 W CAT 3126 engine... Stuttering & Losing Power

Good job Dave. Small world in that you were close enough to help in person. Bill -
Just be sure to use the blue Loctite so you can take the screws lose if you decide to. Bill
-
Carl, You can keep that set screw from vibrating loose by using a drop of Loctite blue(removable). You can use a little of your wife's nail polish on the threads. Not to much because this isn't as easy to get out later. Bill

Well I think you can go that way. I would keep a eye on the weather reports as you get closer. I think 5 should be OK even if they have had some bad weather they should have it cleared out quickly. 5 is a major truck route. 101 would be interesting but I haven't driven it in the winter or past Long Beach WA. That is what I did. I bought a Blue Ox tow bar and a Brake Buddy a year before I had a car to tow 4 down. I would make a list of the Blue ox tow bars and their weight limits. I would get at least a 10,000 pound rated one as you can tow anything that your coach can handle and have a little safety margin. Did you know you can have Blue Ox service and repair your tow bar at a rally for $30.00. http://blueox.com/events/ When you find what you are going to tow I would buy a new baseplate. There are so many variables you might get lucky buying a used baseplate but it could be a headache. Bill

Go do what I suggested and tell me if it shows up on your EMS. Bill

Welcome to the forum. Have you tried to (using adapters) connect the drop cord to your 50 amp power cord? Try that and let me know if you get a reading on your EMS. What amp are you providing through the drop cord ? Bill

One other thing is to make sure your filter is clean. If the filter is clogged it can cause a vacuum and pull air in through the water drain causing a back up and dripping on the inside. Most likely it is as mentioned just a plugged drain. When you go on the roof look for stains from where the water had drained in the past. Bill

Well lets hope you got that fixed. Bill

Asheville NC to Pipestem, WV (Beckley)
wildebill308 replied to iweigh's question in Destinations/Attractions
I understand you are leaving Asheville going to Pipstem/Beckley? Why not go North on I-26 to I-81 to I-77 you can take I-77 into Beckley or cut off on 20 to Pipestem. I think you will have to go back to I-77 to get to Beckley. I was there in August. We stayed at Little Beaver State Park. We had a good time in the New River Gorge area. Bill -
Adapting New/modified Rims & Tires To 1973 Revcon 23' Motorhome
wildebill308 replied to bragan33's topic in Modifications
I had a 1978 Executive that had 171/2 rims and changed to 16 in rims. Yes 16 1/2 can still be found but cost way to much. I bet you have Chevy rims, call your local junk yards, excuse me (recycling yard) and find some that will work. I would bet something off a 3500 truck would work. Take a rim with you to match the hole pattern. It should be easy enough to find a tier that matches the rolling diameter of the originals. I would look for at least load range "E" Bill -
Look in the FMCA Towing Guide for ideas on a towed. Towing 4 down is my preferred method. http://www.fmca.com/motorhome/towing/204-towing-guides-towing-four-wheels-down.html It was a cool 96 in Fort Worth today. Bill

wildebill308 replied to bragan33's topic in Modifications
Brad Welcome to the forum. You can find 19.5 rims but an easier and maybe cheaper change would be to regular 16 in rims from a newer doaner truck. Do you have the duels or tandem configuration? Bill -
I think the first thing to do is find out what is dragging and see if the slide can be adjusted to stop it. What has customer service said? Bill

I know what you mean, but there isn't much dry land west of Seal Beach, CA. What are you using for a toad? Bill

We used Smokey Bear over in Gatlinburg. Did you drive 441 to Cherokee? Then 19-276 then back around on I-40. Nice drive. Bill -
"Takes about 15 minutes for 70 gals or 3/4 tank." That isn't that bad as far as time goes. You won't get much faster using the city fill valve. As you know you don't want much more than 50 psi on the water pressure to the coach. Do you have a switch or is there a lever to select what position the valve is in? Bill

So where are you headed out to. Bill

Installing Solar Panels Without Drilling Holes
wildebill308 replied to fmcard911's topic in Electrical
I was looking at the picture again and I would make sure you can walk past the solar panels with out tripping. The way they look in that picture it would be hard to get past them with out tripping or walking on the edge of the roof. Be safe I see a serious safety problem trying to get past the panels. Bill -

Where is that crossing? I crossed at Maine 201 this summer and it wasn't to bad. I have ben through my share of tight toll booths. I know the attendants are glad there is some protection but judging from how scared some of the columns are They still get little wakeup calls from people scraping the post regularly. Carl, you would be surprised at how many do try and tour without a toad. Bill
