Does one shock cover all chassis “sizes”?
wildebill308 replied to cvdell's topic in Type A motorhomes
I put Koni FSD shocks on my 2003 XC Chassis last fall. They did seam to soften out some of the rough spots in the roads. I only got to put about 8800 miles on them last year but I was happy with how they helped the ride. I used Shock Warehouse https://www.shockwarehouse.com/index.cfm. Bill -
It is ok if you want to feel like macho man because you have been over a 10,000 foot pass. Just remember you didn't start at sea level and yes I have been over them to. Bill

When I was doing it I didn't know I needed to keep a record. When you talk about bad hills to get over they are in the East. They were built before there was any guidelines for interstate roads even before any interstate roads. If you stay on the interstates you are pretty safe but if you get on some of the state and county roads you can have some big surprises. Bill

This is true however I found if I slowed enough to get down to 4th it would hold speed pretty good on most hills. if it didn't and kept picking up speed I could slow to where it dropped into 3ed gear and then I bet I could go down a 35 degree slope without picking up speed. A388666, Still my advice is to drive with it on and get a feel for how it reacts to different situations. Bill

I think it is more about learning to drive a big rig. It isn't like driving a sports car. I was slower in my 38ft Diesel pusher, many times it wouldn't hold the speed limit. My speed limit was 65 but the slowdown was 80% due to traffic and not the hill. I never found a hill I couldn't get over and I have been over nearly every major pass in the west. Well ok in the Lower 48. Ok I have to know what I have been missing. What do you think is so amazing about your hills. Bill

Welcome to the forum. Which Tiffin model as some have different engins. I would drive with it on so you can get a feel for how much it breaks and how it feels before you are on THAT hill. Basically it starts to slow and downshift any time you reduce the throttle. It's goal is to slow you to 2ed gear. Plan on slowing at the top of any steep hill. I have seen places where trucks were required to start down the hill at 30 mph or less. A good saying is "never start down a hill faster than you came up it". Let me know if you have any questions. Let us know what you find. I would change the regulator almost as a maintenance thing on a coach that old. They arn't that expensive. Bill

So it is being powered by the inverter? Bill

That is a good question. I never had one but I would bet you can if it is connected to a inverter circuit or you would need to run the generator to power it. Bill

Anybody use a store-bought log book?
wildebill308 replied to urbanhermit's topic in Type A motorhomes
UrbanHermit, Back to the question "what kind of logbook?" I use Gas Buddy to track fuel. We use RVParky, Google Maps to track trips and places to stay. We have a notebook to keep receipts and notes about places we have stayed/visited. If you want to track all your expenses, look at this Youtube channel he has spreadsheets available. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXejRdDVmJxYpguXcv-ZYsg Bill -
I am thinking the plastic is some kind of safety retainer for the bulbs. I would be inclined to look at swapping them out for leds. Bill

Carl, do you realey want us to start grading your post? All the grammatical and spelling issues? Or do you want to talk about RV issues? Bill -
Waiting for OP to comeback with a response. Bill

Gee all that big HP being bandied about. I did it with a little ISB 300 HP 475 ft pounds of torque. Just use your gears. Most of the time top speed was controlled by slower traffic. I know of several steep hills I probably could have been faster on but finished in 3ed at about 35 behind a truck. Bill

That is true. I had no indication I was climbing till the hi temp buzzer went off.Bill

Beat they are not full of out of staters. How are they doing the quarantine? Bill -
Welcome to the forum. Yes it is a nice park I have stayed there before. We did the Indian guided tour of the battlefield and it was very interesting. As DD said if your radiator is clean you shouldn't have any problems. (If you put your RV in your signature it will help get better answers.) Just keep an eye on your temperatures and if they start to climb just manually downshift to bring up your RPM and increase fan speed and water flow. I don't recall any major hills in that area but sometimes the long slow climbs can cause overheating especially when on cruise control. I had it happen to me one time west of Williams AZ. I was running on CC and not paying attention to close because it wasn't down shifting. Well the CC was doing it's best to maintain speed in top gear and had called for max boost and throttle to do it. I dropped down a couple of gears and was able to get everything cooed off. Long way to say just keep an eye on things and you will be fine. Bill

Yes I have heard good things about the Liquid Spring setup. I heard they were coming out with a front setup. Still a little pricey for just the back ran around $12,500 installed. Till then you could add Sumo Springs to the front. https://www.supersprings.com/products/sumosprings/. You are at a point where putting that money toward a coach upgrade might make more sense or at least something to think about. jfalessi, See how well we can spend your money. Bill

Welcome to the forum. First thing to do is weigh the coach loaded ready to travel. Compare the real weight with the posted max weight in your coach. Then check your tire pressure. I changed out my shocks on my last coach to Koni FSD shocks and they helped with the rough roads. https://www.shockwarehouse.com/news/koni-fsd-gold.cfm Bill

'06 Forest River Charleston:Generator slide drifts out while driving
wildebill308 replied to wtbuck12's topic in Slideouts
Something to try. I would run the slide in and out 8-10 times. See if that fixes the problem before tearing things apart. Bill -
