  1. I am in the camp of why not call Tiffin and se what they say. I would also ask if they have a can of the foam they use so you could complete the repair. Probabley don't need to talk to Bob but you could use that step if they don't make you happy. Bill
  2. Good area. Have you ever been to the wooden boat show on/at Lake Winnipesaukee? http://weirsbeach.com/reasons-to-visit/events/antique-boat-show/ We will probably try to stay up at New Found Lake at Newfound RV Park later if we can get up that way later in the summer. Bill
  3. I wouldn't do that if I had Carl's money. Back to the OP's topic. I agree with Joe about the problems with new diesels. The OP has the disadvantage of having the newer emission particulate filter. That could be a problem as any increase in fuel will cause more soot (particulate) to clog up the filter or cause continues re gen. This thread made me remember one time I had a heating problem and it wasn't a steep hill. You really couldn't see you were climbing. I think it was on I-40 west of the Grand Canyon area. I was doing about 65 on cruise when my high temp alarm started going off. The problem was it was enough of a grade that, yes it could maintain speed on cruise but it was all in max boost and max throttle without downshifting for several miles. All I had to do was drop to 4th and let it cool off and then it would hold speed in 5th without a problem. Bill
  4. The left rear staying up may just be a sticking valve in that location. The manual release is a different set of valves. I would call Gaffney Factory service 1-855-253-0421 like Rich recommended. Ask if the airbags should dump everytime you apply the parking brake. I would also ask for a copy of the proper instructions for leavaling the coach. By the way the big release of air you hear when you apply the parking brakes is normal it is the air keeping the brakes from applying when going down the road. If you lose air preshure in the braking system it automatically applies the parking breaks. I know it sounds backward. Bill
  5. Are they bigger than the ones in the picture I posted? Bill
  6. I would still recommend installing a pyrometer in the exhaust manifold before the turbo. I hate to be on the doom and gloom side but with your projected gains you may never see that big of a increase in speed over big hills/bridges. Where do you find bridges that slow you down? I don't know your experience level driving big vehicles but you are never going to get it to perform like your car. The best advice is to learn how to drive your RV so you get the best performance from it. When you see your EGT start to climb on a hill manually downshift. The rule of thumb is if you can't maintain or accelerate in a gear downshift till you can. This will control your EGT. Then you can maintain a safe RPM till you are over the hill. One outher tip, don't start down a steep hill in a gear higher than you came up. This will prevent us from reading your Obit where it said "I'll just make the wife drive the Jeep." Bill
  7. Welcome to the forum. What RV are you looking for? I have just gone through the process of buying a RV and selling a RV so I am curious what you are looking for and where you are looking. So now you know about Camping World. Have you looked at PPL Motorhomes https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/ or National Indoor RV Centers https://www.nirvc.com/Sales ? After doing business with NIRVC You want to tell Camping World to take lessons. I can give you more info if interested. Bill
  8. Richard, I was working on a slightly bigger stroker when I ended up buying my 5.9 cummins. I had done the work on the heads including upgrading to stainless exhaust valves and seats. port and polished and CC matched the combustion chambers opened up and cleaned up the intake and exhaust runners. I kind of wished I had finished that project just to see how the finished package ran. Bill
  9. Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on the new to you RV. Bill
  10. Ok, when you say you "put on air brakes " are you saying you pulled the knob to set the parking brake? What kind of time frame? 1 minute or 10 minutes? That sounds about right. Do you have this https://www.airstream.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/2001-touring-coach-390-series-xl-diesel-pusher-owner-s-manual-36.pdf Nice coach by the way. Bill
  11. I am confused. I re read all the post. What exactly is the problem and what does your owner's manual say. Every manufacturer has a different procedure to level/store the coach. Is it fairly level where you are doing this? Bill
  12. Fagnaml, You made me smile and remember some of my experimentation increasing power in the "B" series engine. I have a 2003 5.9 RV Cummins Diesel in a 38N Bounder. Don't let them confuse you as they are basically different engines than the "Dodge" Cummins engines. I used Banks Engineering products https://www.bankspower.com/. I don't think they are making tuners for motorhomes any more. The thing I liked about Banks was they would build it then run it on a dyno and publish the results. Most of these outher places brag about all their "Engineering" but don't offer proof "trust me" only goes so far with me. The absolute FIRST thing you need is a accurate properly installed Exhaust Gas Temperature probe (EGT) and a accurate easy to read gage. Your EGT can go way above safe limits long, long before your water temps go up and do it quickly. You can have high EGT on stock engines. If you don't have a gage you will never know. Most damage to your turbo are cumulative and will take a while to show up. Something else you need to be aware of is you have a DPF and they can be quickly plugged up adding a tuner. Most tuners add more fuel that = more soot. I have run or tried to run the water/ methanol injection system to. I finally settled down and dialed everything to max MPG. Mileage was running a little better than in the stock setting. For 8,820.0 miles in 2019, I got 8.74 MPG. Let me know if you have any questions. Bill
  13. I highly recommend you have a spare nylon drain plug in your spare parts bin. I have had one blow out and there never seems like there is a parts store handy. Bill
  14. I am tired just hearing about it. Bill
  15. Preventive maintenance = a good thing. How about some plywood pads under the jack stands? It would be easier on my RV if the wheels were off. I may change the shocks next year and will probably have someone pull the tiers off.
  16. Did you have any leaks? How many bags do you have 8? Bill
  17. I would call the places jleamont listed. Bill
  18. Welcome and thank you for your Service! I grew up on the western end of NY on the lake. Bill
  19. Will all the snow be melted by then? Bill
  20. Well yes you have engaged multiple times. You have been, at best superficial in you answers and refused to answer or acknowledge direct questions in response. It might be beneficial to you to get a nice Big Chief tablet and go back and reread the suggestions proposed by me and others. Here are a couple things as a bonus. It was brought up you need to work to attract full time RV owners. Why? There are over 1.3 Million full timers out there. Re read what I said about Youtube. The average age of RV ownership is 48. Tell me how many registered RVs are out there? "Almost everything you have suggested or recommended we are already doing". Well no, no you are not doing it at least well enough to be seen by us out here traveling and doing business and interacting with dealers. " Your assumption above that the EB is doing nothing to try and solve the issues we are facing is flat out wrong." Is it? You were asked about that and chose not to respond. My point is if "nothing happens till the EB votes" yet it could be next year before they meet. So heare is your chance to explain what they are doing. Bill
  21. Once Again, I am pretty shure it is the job and responsibility and duty of "STAFF" to report things that might help their organization especially when we are in a decline and losing revenue and members. Especially when they are in the CEO position. So we are suppose to wait for the National Convention once per year! At that time The Executive Board/Governing Board will be allowed to run around and scream that we are losing membership and don't have a clue what to do. Right now that may be anouther year. Is that the way we want to operate this organization? Don't you think it would be better to have some ideas to present to the board before hand? If it is important enough they could do like outher organizations and have a "Virtual meeting and implement changes before the decline goes to far. So Once Again, I am pretty shure it is the job and responsibility and duty of "STAFF" to report things that might help their organization especially when we are in a decline and losing revenue and members. Especially when they are in the CEO position. Bill
  22. That is exciting news. I bet you still haven't quit smiling. Bill
