Do you have the motor out? We have an electric motor repair here in Birmingham, and I'm sure there are many others. I've used this service many times and find they can repair almost any winding. If the gear end is the problem, those usually can be repaired also. Kay

Opposite from Atlanta but closer to Sharpsburg at Pine Mountain, FDR Ga. State Park is a really nice park that I have stayed at many times. Calloway Gardens is near the park, also the FDR Little Whitehouse are good attractions to visit while there.

Ladder mount will require a long coax from driver seat to the antenna, and that seems expensive. I would suggest the flat mount also, and if you are not familiar with a top load fiberglass antenna, I would recommend it over a steel whip antenna. Being top loaded, you can mount it only 8 inches above the roof line, and get very good reception. Kay

Fresh Water Tank Plumbing - '86 Coachmen Classic Class C
kaypsmith replied to MadHungarian's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
I owned an 87 model Southwind some years ago, the fw tank was under the bed, but the pump was under a lavatory sink just outside the bathroom. -
4.24 pounds per gallon, 9 gallons is 38.16 pounds.

If there is no 120 ac output the engine will still crank, but will go dead when you release the start switch, oil low will not even try to crank, and I'm reasonably sure that you have checked that. Rich has good suggestions, hope this tidbit is helpful. Kay

Type CostaCoat on the e-bay search engine. I ordered a small quanity to try it out, and the results were as advertised. I don't have any idea how long it will last, but hopefully as long as advertised. Kay

Hello Tommy, welcome to the forum. Post is just a little short of information ... humming coming from speakers on TV? Is the TV on when it hums, or maybe off? More info is needed.

Can the unit be mounted on some type of foam rubber mount? It could be fabricated with a little thought put into it. This probably will help isolate the noise away from any soundboard that is now attached to. Also you might consider using a much less expensive converter to charge house batteries, and continue using the Xantrex to invert to 120 volt. Kay

Did a little further research, and here is an interesting article. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=152 Tireman probably can add some good comments to this. Kay

If dissimilar metals is the only problem, wonder if Noalox would be helpful. Kay

I had a similar experience, only not on th mh. They took up in my mailbox, I added a second mb for the pc.

Best answer E-tim, I think, second surge protector will add nothing to the equation. One set of MOV's is all that is required. Kay

Us old ham's have used so many concoctions over the years, including long wires with 6 inch standoffs right on top of the rubber roof's, and they worked well. Also motorized shafts mounted just outside the driver window, but that is a little extreme for a CB. But if you want to relocate and get rid of the extra height, as indicated in my earlier reply, k40 does make a fiberglass antenna that is top loaded, come in different lengths, and can be side or rear mounted, since it is top loaded, it would only need to be mounted six to eight inches above the roof line to be effective. ARS N4WQP And if anyone would like to know the formula for cutting a wire antenna, pm me, will be happy to oblige. Kay

Anyone Using "Car In Tow" Sign On Toad?
kaypsmith replied to Bluebirds's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
I use a magnetic adhered yellow revolving light right on top of the toad, plugged into 12 volt outlet, like a cigarette lighter plug at the rear of my coach. Have had several comments from Troopers, and truck drivers, that they liked the idea, -
I'm not quite sure where the whip is located on your mh, but a stainless steel whip for 27 mhz, quarter wave is 102". For anything less you will need a coil loaded antenna, to make work with any satisfaction. It would almost useless to use anything less. There are many brands of good ones, search k40 antenna, it is one of the better ones.

Onan generators have a safety feature, if the generator doesn't excite, and start producing ac current, it not continue to run. That is probably why brush cleaning worked last time, and hope that it will work again. Best solution, start the generator on a regular basis as recommended, and run at half load for a period of time, "30 minutes" recommended by most people in the know. This helps keep the carburetor functioning well, the brushes cleaned, the brush springs from corroding and sticking and also moisture from deteriorating the stator/ windings. Happy trails, hope for an easy fix. Kay

CG Recommendation Central or West Coast of Florida
kaypsmith replied to mapleskoff's topic in Campgrounds
Top Sail, a Florida state park between Destin, and Panama City Beach, is a beautiful park. It's about 90 miles east of the Alabama and Florida state line, just off of hwy 98 and on 30A. -
Huffypuff is correct, seems that the dealer is also frustrated. Send a certified letter, return receipt requested, you will need those receipts if legal action is warrantied. You probably have already searched for help, and I assume you are in Kentucky. Heres is a url that you can visit. http://www.yourlemonlawrights.com/kentucky-lemon-law.aspx?KCTrkrIdId=1488532&gclid=CN3L5oGW770CFTMV7AodckoAHw

Have you looked for a battery isolator, maybe diode based, or relay operative. Most coaches have one, and yours may have gone bad. Just a thought, since you have now tested using a known good battery charger.

"mpierce" is correct, decrease pressure on tag will add to drive, and lessen steers!

Water Pressure Drops When City Water Used
kaypsmith replied to rlbarkleyii's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Could almost anything, but I would start with the simplest. Hookup another waterhose, I have seen hoses collapse on the inside. Next check for a pressure regulator in line to the coach, if there is one, take out for the test, if it is bad, replace it, you never know about the cg pressure. As Rich said the flap valve is another place to look, some of them have screens that can clog. Also look for a fresh water filter that may be inline, a well used one will produce the symptoms that you described. Hope you find a simple solution. Kay -
Rich is probably correct. The proper way to uninstall multiple batteries, is if there is a battery disconnect, then use it first, then disconnect the ground from the group, then disconnect the positive from the group, then dissemble the group. When installing, exactly opposite is correct procedure making sure that the battery voltage is correct for the group before connecting the positive first, then the ground, then the disconnect last. This will eliminate any unnecessary arc, and help prolong the life of all electronics.

Any Experience With1994 HR 34 Diesel? Worth A 2nd Look?
kaypsmith replied to parsoc's topic in Buying an RV
Assuming that it is a pusher, being diesel, the chassis might have been produced in 94, and titled that way, although HR called it a 95. This may explain the NADA info differing, and this happens a lot of times. Is it a pusher? What make is the engine? Being owned by a truck driver probably is a good thing. I know that Holiday Rambler was making a very well built unit in that date range. So it could possibly be a good deal, but if you don't know much about RV'ing, it will be well worth finding someone who does to check the unit and give an assessment. Not a dealer that would be trying to sell theirs instead, but a certified diesel mechanic, and also someone who knows what to look for in other departments, such as, roof, electrical, plumbing, and the many other items to look for, including rust. Take some pictures and add them to your post. Good luck hunting!!! -
All of the above are good. My first was a Southwind with the 454, my last resort was to go a high performance shop and purchase a very expensive set of plug wires, that was my final solution, and it work for me. BTW, I had replaced with factory replacements three times before, with no good results.
