I used a Bobcat skid steer loader, placed the AC's in the bucket and lifted them up that way. I will be adding a third AC this winter and will use the old bobcat again for the task.

whats the set up to tow one 1990 Jeep Pioneer

If the owners manual says it's ok to tow with transfer case in neutral, the automatic tranny should be in park. -
Cummins 6.7L overheating issues Forest River Berkshire 2009
kaypsmith replied to thomandcoley's topic in Engines
Not knowing what type fan your coach uses, but if it uses a clutch, that would be my first replacement. Just the clutch. I have also seen occasions where someone added the wrong type anti freeze, which caused coagulation, in this case the entire system had to be flushed and filled with the correct anti freeze.- 45 replies

Who, What, When, Where or Just Lets Talk
kaypsmith replied to hermanmullins's topic in General Discussion
How about chocolate dipped jerky? A new flovor for Ben & Jerry to experiment with, I wonder how much they would pay for that suggestion. -
Sounds like a pretty good reason to me. Sitting in shop for 2 months!

Where is the black tank in reference to the toilet? Have you climbed onto the roof and checked the vent for any obstructions? You can remove the vent cover and place a hose pipe attached to a fresh water supply and force water down the vent, the water will go directly to the holding tank, and this is the only way to clean the vent pipe that I know of. I personally have never liked having any type elbow in the toilet drain to the black tank. Page 110 of your manual does reference using plenty water while flushing the toilet to avoid conditions just like you described. I am unable to find plumbing diagrams of your coach, but I suspect the main toilet uses a power flush system. I will add one suggestion, acquire some Calgon water softener, Walmart and other box stores sell it, located where detergents are sold, use a quarter cup in a two gallon container, add one quarter cup of Dawn dish detergent, fill the container with hot water, then while holding the flush valve wide open, slowly pour the solution down the affected toilet. If an accumulation has begun to build up in those elbows, this will help to loosen and force down into the black tank. This is also a most effective means of cleaning the black tank. DD69 beat me to part of my response while I was typing, but what he said is very true.

2005 42 ft Monaco Dynasty, shore power cuts in and out
kaypsmith replied to f438921's topic in Electrical
That is a great idea! Actually the ATS is not designed to kick out in the event of an overcurrent condition. it's only job is to switch from shore power to the generator or whatever source of power that you may want to switch to, could be an inverter or a different pedestal. The likely hood that it is kicking out is probably due to the fact that there is not enough current to keep the relay engaged. If there is not enough current available, then a fuse/cicuitbreaker will not blow or trip because it is looking for an over current event. What will happen in the case of under current is that devices in this condition will not work properly and or can actually burn out the device that is subjected to such a condition, and in this situation, better that is a relay as opposed to an air conditioner, much less costly to replace a relay. A loose screw, a bad wire, or a bad plug, or receptacle or a poor ground connection is usually the only cause for an under current condition. When I supervised a large store chain, many years ago, I had one store that would run all lights within the store fine, but when AC or walkin coolers were activated, none of these units would even come on, again lights not affected. All circuit/breakers checked out ok, still no coolers would work. I called on the power company for their help, and they sent their repair crew who immediately changed out the connectors that connected company power to store connection, viola, the coolers started right up and the power bill dropped $700.00 per month in that store. Moral is that a loose connection can happen at any time or any place within the confines of the power source. -

You stated that your coach is a 50 amp unit, therefore L1 should be showing 110 to neutral or ground. With a properly wired adapter, L2 should read 110 to neutral or ground, 0 voltage should be read from L1 to L2, in a 50 amp unit, the unit is expecting 240 volts from L1 to L2, the adapter takes 110 from the hot leg of shore power and splits this to send 110 to each L1 and L2. If you are testing L1 to L2, then your meter should be showing 0 volts that way. If you unplug from shore power, and the generator off, with the adapters in place on the shore power cord, then you should see 0 ohms from L1 to L2, because it is a direct short. If you are finding voltage from L1 to L2 as you stated, then the adapter or the pedestal is wired incorrectly. The above test should be performed inside the ATS. If testing 30 amp service at the CG pedestal then there is a hot leg, 110/120, a neutral leg, and a ground leg, you should actually be finding, hot to neutral 110, or hot to ground 110, and zero neutral to ground. I sure hope this helps in understanding what to expect. -
Replacing a roof unit should not be hard at all, normally if the unit is ducted there is an access hole directly below the unit. A new unit will probably cost less than a new compressor if one can be found.

At 10,000 watts you had 41.6 amps available on each leg, L1 and L2, that is of course on the generator. Plugged into 50 amp service, you would have 50 amps each leg, and of course my colleagues would correct me and say that is 100 amps, but still 50 per leg. The generator is producing 83.3 total. Now, one AC unit should run OK if not too many other appliances are being run at the same time unless there is a problem with the unit. All that said, 104 voltage is very low, and I did read anywhere in your op what the voltage was at the cg pedestal, but since the same thing happening, I would begin to suspect that there may be a problem with the pigtail that you use to reduce from 50 amps to 30. If it were me, I would do as Rich suggested to be sure to retighten all lugs inside the ATS and all other places that are possible. But I would also seek to find a known good working 50 amp shore connection to plug into to make sure all is working well with the shore 50 amp setup. There are course two sets of contacts within the ATS, one may be getting weak, and of course that one would be the shore power side, but again 104 is too low voltage and it may well be kicking out as a result of the low voltage. -
Beautiful coach, happy tales and trails with it.

Actually Brian, you and I both have the original socalled Verizon Unlimited. The talk is about FCMA/Verizon Unlimited. This is the plan that was offered (I think) earlier this year for Unlimited internet for $49.00 per month. I also tried to get changed over to the plan three times, I'm paying $65.00 per month plus a $10.00 per month line charge for the 22 gig farce of a plan. The FMCA version is supposed to be $49.00 for 25 gig for only one hotspot device, plus of course all over 25 gig at creepy crawley, hope this helps understanding where 25 is coming from.

Here is the actual brand that I use and have been most successful with. https://pfharris.com/products/ants/ I was not at home with the link info on the first response. I also highly recommend their roach tablets also. No I do not have any affiliation with that company, but my brother inlaw was a pest control tech for 20+ years, and he put me onto this.

I hope the restaurant at Joe Wheeler is still open at the lodge, I look forward to the prime rib on their Friday night buffet, but it has been 3 years since I was last there. The deer will actually eat out of your hand there, but don't let a Ranger see you feeding them. LOL! -

Welcome to FMCA and the forum, hope the tech connect works well for you. Joe Wheeler is my second most favorite campground in Alabama, White Oak Creek close to Eufaula is my first, I know that is a long way for you, but if ever traveling south east, you may like to check that one out also. 73, Kay -

If you put $12K in savings at 2.75 interest rate, in three years, and you have no major catastrophe you will have $13075.00 ready for the next three. I'm with five on this one, but it is not my money. Good luck with your decision whatever it may be. -

Carl, we just trying to edicate you, a transceiver is a radio designed to both transmit and receive, a receiver is a radio designed to receive only. If you put those out in the elements they would probably drown like those turkeys trying to commit suey side. I am truly sorry that I called it a he, maybe an it. Let's see, a foot long 4" across, white, maybe a balun, that's a coil of wire wound around a dielectric sleeve placed inside a dielectric sleeve used capacitively to shorten an antenna, 80 meters requires about 80 feet of antenna to become resonet at the frequency, it would be hard to get under a bridge if it were that tall. LOL! Now go have another drank on me, I think I'll have a big orange.
-
Carl, I doubt that it was a transceiver/receiver mounted there, those are usually mounted inside the vehicle, LOL. Probably a HAM using either 40 or 80 meters, requires a very long antenna to work effectively. He probably doesn't intend to look cool, just wants to work all states.

RESIDENTIAL REPLACEMENT RECOMMENDATION FOR 4 DOOR NORCOLD
kaypsmith replied to garygalla's topic in Systems and Appliances
I don't know if you were around when Goldstar was, mid 80's to late 90's, they made many appliances that were sold cheap, actually made in the US at the time. They made a terrible reputation for themselves, because they were made cheap. The Lang company (I don't remember what country they were in), bought out Goldstar and the company name became Lang and Goldstar. Trying to rid the bad reputation gained by Goldstar, they started a slogan which was used in all ads LG (Lifes Good) so that the public would remember them by the initials LG. Just a little history of LG products. For the most part, I have had pretty good luck with LG, but I haven't bought one of their refrigerators yet, I do own a couple of their TV's and have no complaint with them yet.
