Newbie Water Tank & Black Tank Flush Question
manholt replied to Squinko's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
In the picture, the "green" handle is set at fresh water and that = in house tank, turn on pump and you will be using your water. When your at a campground, before hooking up your hose, turn off pump, then attach hose to spigot and your city water inlet, turn green handle to local supply and turn on spigot...I suggest you add a inline water filter and a pressure gauge to your outside connection. If your getting water, without pump, it's city! For black and grey tank, you will need to remove the cap between the two knife handles, attaché your 3" sewer hose and also attach it at CG dump opening. Don't leave your knife switches open, as you get close to a full grey tank, pull the T handle and empty, you'll probably do that at least twice, before you need to dump black tank. In your owners manual, you will find a section on black tank flush...my system is different than yours, but from the look in the photo, just hook up a water hose (I would use a non drinking water hose) to the inlet, open the black tank knife switch (T handle all the way out) and flush! -
Remco Drive Shaft Disconnect

Nothing like a 8+ year old post to keep me on my toes! -
mcmwar. Same as above. Have seen folks take the cover off to blow anything out...not needed. On rare occasions, I have trees that overlap top of coach, leaf blower or water hose works good, same for under slide covers.

Thank you Rich. You kicked my overloaded, feeble brain, into gear again! Joe, your in the climate of snow = salt...I have wondered how the RV reacts to it over the years!? Meaning how long before your inundated with rust.
-
And mine above that. I did not know about cost until DD69 said fuel pump, fuel line and carb.
-
Yes. Ditto. Just keep the tow bar as close to horizontal as you can, 15 degrees +/- is doable, but less is better!
-
Roland, true. You need to go to him now....we are not getting younger. For you, Texas is beyond impractical.... This time of year TCC is about a week out. My fault, I put them on the map in the past 3 years!

I would stay with a DP that has a pre 2007 engine or a 2010 and newer. Have a 2009 currently and I don't ever want a Particulate Filter/re generation system again! Agree with Bill.

Leaving and going home is a toss up...every thing else should not be a problem. I would do I-10 from FL to TX. I-20 does get bad winter storms on occasion...mostly freezing rain! That you don't want to be caught in, parked or driving!

I'm like Brett. first off I can't think of a situation where I would need 120psi and when I do need to add some air, I like it dry not wet. My thought is that if you have to run at max cold psi, your over weight and need to find out why. If you are within weight limits or under, the max = hard ride!

Both tanks closed....I don't need a snake or whatever to use my dump line as a highway into coach! I have the electric macerator toilet (POS) and feel that it will allow a slurry to set up as fast or faster than solids!! I pull the black at 3/4 F and same with gray as needed (more showers, more dump). Travel with tanks empty and 1/2 fresh for whatever! WBill, enjoy tour "P" trap...Even the ones in house, if not used enough, can get to smell bad.

Unless, the CC was also a Debit card, like CMA Merrill lynch, then it really is the OP's money! They have 21 business days from cancellation to refund the money by either deposit to CC or by check to his address. I bet it's the 2nd choice!
-
Ed. Welcome again. How long have you had your current coach and is that the only DP you have owned?
-
Rob. Great news, happy it will all work out for you! Perhaps Joe, due to too much diesel fumes, can't smell anything & since DW has smelled him to long...no odor!

Dawn Dish Soap In Black Water Tank
manholt replied to bizsmith@yahoo.com's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Interesting thought, since I always carry both (for different reasons), I'll try it. Borax sprinkled on floor and rug, will keep bugs, beetles away or kill them...just vacuum up after a day or so. -
Figured you had already thought about Herman's idea...hard to carry all that around with you, until you get to the outback! Yes, you can convert, but I would call Cummins since they own Onan. Don't know cost!

Thank you Tom. You shed some much needed light on my own situation! I spend most of my time in the Coach or outside the US, Linda also has a large DP and travel with me ! She has 2 ranches that we both love and I have the large (3,700+ sq. foot) house on Galveston, Island. Plus a ranch of my own! The Island house is For Sale, but that still leaves a lot of land and homes in Texas, from Three Rivers to Gilmer! We have been talking of me selling my ranch and her giving the main residence to her son as a life residence, then it would go to her 3 Grandkids. That would still leave the Barnominium as a home base! I have no children. My cousin say's you can't have to much land...true, but he does not travel by motorhome! Linda and I love the RV life style...I'm over 50 years, she 34 years off Class A ownership and we are currently looking to getting 2 new ones. She wants a 43', current 40' and I want a 40', current 45'....NO, I don't want a 2006 Phaeton! I do think that, like you, if we get everything down to "One Tipi", it will be a lot less stress and a whole lot less expensive! Is our thinking correct ?

Sometimes the gray thank can be worse than the black! but both can be pulled in by an open window also..

Cauffield, What are yours doing or not doing?

When traveling I have never done so with a roof vent open, either before or after the invention of Fantastic Fan! Mine are there to bring in/out fresh air on a cool day, rain or shine, I have not had any invasion of water. My max air is a high shell that allows my vent cover to be raised and fan used when it's raining...last time that happened was at FMCA Indy rally, Lord it rained the day before the event ! As Herman and his parkers can attest to...that was a real "Frog Strangler"!

In Answer to your last 2 questions, one word,,,NO !

"Fiver" = Fifth wheel trailer. IMHO = In my humble opinion. If that's what you think, then go get her!
