Joe, the lights quit yesterday, I'm thinking it's a fuse. Or could be something else since the tech had the dash apart fixing Silverleaf...it works! Carl

No dash gauges lights! I'm at Cummins and they charge $145 an hour....HELP! Carl

Comparing Coach Net, Good Sam & FMCA Roadside Assistance Coverage
manholt replied to huffypuff's topic in Roadside Assistance
You can get all the info on FMCA Roadside Assistance program by clicking on FMCA Main Site, Benefits! After reading everything, I came to the conclusion that it's best suited for Class A Gas (up to 34'), B and C (gas). Not a DP, unless it's a 32'! Way to many disclaimers and restrictions for $109 per yr.! I will stay with CN. GS was fantastic when they had one price fits all,,, But back then a 36' was a monster RV! Carl -
FIVE. AGM is the next thing on my list. "Auto Start", when I'm traveling, but have to turn off in my storage garage! Carl

I got a letter, 3 weeks ago from EZ Tag, telling me that I'm good on all Texas Toll Roads. Same if you have TexTag! The bad news for tourists is that not all Toll roads have cash only lanes anymore...TexTag takes a picture of your License Plate and mails you an invoice if you don't have a tag, but Harris County (Houston), sends out a ticket and it is more than what you would have been charged had they had a cash booth! What makes it hard is that not all Toll roads in Texas is the same cost per mile! Also, there is 2 different billing company's! The one for TexTag is still a disaster. Carl

That's cut and dry and so is, stay away from "RV Masters" in Houston, TX! Carl

Bill. Big Welcome to FMCA and the Forum! If you have not done so yet, check out the clubs/Chapters on FMCA main site. It's a great way to meet other folks that share your interest. Also, we have our annual FMCA reunion in W. Springfield, Mass. coming up later this Summer! Lots of activities for every age, Vendors and factory reps. So, before and after you take delivery, enjoy the ride. "It's all about having fun"! Carl

Amish Cooling Unit Install In Dometic NDR1292

Here I was standing up for Herman and I went down in flames! We are a sorry group. Can't claim birth right, just Texan by choice Carl -
Would some one please explain to me, why we have Slide topper awnings? Before I decided to keep the coach I have, I looked at all the high end coaches (one million or more). Liberty, Monarch and Newell, non of them have toppers! Almost every time I'm in a Park for a week or two, I have to take a broom and then spray under my topper to remove dirt, leaves and bugs. Carl

Herman, your absolutely right. Carl

What I don't understand is why would you need or want a 600 or 650 in a glorified camper to begin with!? Per the Cummins rep that came by So. Plains Cummins, where I currently am camped, the 650 is the cats meow now, and the problems they had is behind them. OK, makes me wonder why Cummins has a downturn in sales and have laid off 2,000 workers?! There are 16 coaches here waiting for service, new to 3 years old from DeMontrond RV in Houston, 43' to 45' and 450 to 525 HP. No 650! Carl

FIVE. I don't do "really cold"! Just as I avoid 100+ in summer, unless I'm rolling thru on my way to the mountains. Like 108 in Roswell and 80 in Ruidoso, NM. Besides that, I do have heated bays, don't you? Carl

Extended Warranties for Class A Diesel Motorhome
manholt replied to DennisSolow's topic in Extended Service Policies
Herman. Knock on wood. It has not happened in 40+ years! So, you'll get old and grey waiting.... I forgot to mention that for the past 26 years, all of my stuff in in the name of a Corporation and it pay's for the umbrella policy! I personally can't be sued. Carl -
Feel the same here! There are lots of places in Texas that I would like more power, however I know that it comes with a price, so I just downshift and enjoy the wonderful scenery! There are plenty of hills on I-10 West of Bourne that slow me down. Unless the road to Estes Park in Colorado has changed in the last 5 years, even if I had a 600hp, I could not take the corners any faster than I would do now in 4th gear. Loss of rpm is the biggest culprit on any mountain road for a DP! Save your $$$, be happy, no worry! A Motorhome DP or Gas is not meant to be a sports car! My 2 cents. Carl

Give Winnebago tech department a call. You'll need your Vin # Carl

genepatb With the key out? Sounds like a solenoid is not closing or a lose ground wire. Have you checked the ignition switch wires with a meter? Carl

Extended Warranties for Class A Diesel Motorhome
manholt replied to DennisSolow's topic in Extended Service Policies
Bill. Me also. I'm currently at Cummins in Houston, TX. getting my annual service done and extras (some my choice, some not), what was going to cost $2,200 grew to $4,118. Big bucks! However, had I gotten a EW when I bought coach in late 13', I would now be down over $1,800 as normal service is not covered by EW! I do the same with Insurance, I have a two million dollar Liability policy and carry a $10 million umbrella Policy (at $7.50 per month, per million) I'm way ahead! Carl -
New Motorhome Floor Plans: Practical Or Impractical - A Poll
manholt replied to aldebruijn's topic in Buying an RV
Roger. Makes sense! I did not know that Yosemite was open this time of the year?! If it is, have a good trip! Carl -
House, inverter.

Roger. I have spent the last hour, re reading all your posts, twice and slow. I now think I understand where your coming from and must say it's a good idea, especially since you seem to get enjoyment out off it. Keep it up! There are several pros and cons in deciding what type of RV to get. Most important is to keep the DW (Susan) happy! I also would be leaning towards a 5th if I was to stay in a Park for several months at a time (more bang and space for the $$$$)! Less cost in maintenance. A DP has better ride than a gas, but is more expensive to buy and maintain. So it all boils down to what really makes you happy! Also, sometimes I have to duck into a Rest Area to sit out bad weather and I'm high and dry with generator on, while the folks in truck/trailer is stuck in truck or get soaked going to trailer...the same happens often in camp grounds! If you ever make it to a FMCA Rally, look me up! Carl

Ray. Your coach is mad at you...it knows. No more trips from Island! Sorry, I just could not help it. You probably have more tools, than the average shop! Carl
