If we ever hear from Dean again...here's my 2 cents worth! Had the same problem on a 07' Winnebago Tour 40KD with a 400 Cummins and rear radiator. Turned out to be the coolant reservoir that was too small. Cummins gave me 2 choices, I could change it out for the correct size or add coolant as needed for the heat of summer, I choose to look at my level in the mornings and add as needed. Also, when temps. in far West Texas and East New Mexico was over 100, I would run in 5th gear at 55 mph. Hwy. 285 from Ft. Stockton, TX to I-40 in NM is all up hill... Buy the extra fuel, it's a lot cheaper!!! Carl C. 10' AMC Tradition 45' with 425 Cummins 13' Jeep Wrangler

Glenns. It sure would help to know, where are these long, hot, inclines? I can only think off CA, OR, AZ and parts of NM. Anyway, on a 98' model I would definitely listen to Brett and as far as re-engineering is concerned...don't. KISS, is a good thing! I bought new a 2011 Allegro Bus 36' with a 450 DEF Cummins. Yes, I had power but I only got an average, over 3 years, of 7.2 mpg. The DEF tank was located on right rear....could not use pump at any truck stop and filling tank is a pure pain in the back, when your 6'8"!!! Per Cummins, the reason for a 450 HP was due to the 12% HP loss, due to DEF. I hate the DEF system. All it does is keep Al Gore, the green huggers and Government happy for extra taxes! I ask myself, why is it that the biggest polluters out there, are exempt from DEF? As for Turbo and fuel MPG/Power at higher elevation...we covered that in another posting. Sorry Brett, but your theory in 12' counter your reply to me about lousy MPG in Oregon. Carl C. 10' AMC Tradition 45' Cummins 425

Since I use my coach a lot, not full time, around 16,000 miles a year, I find it easier to see a Cummins Coach Care shop. They have the facility to handle the fluids, and they will do everything at one time...engine, generator, chassis, HWH and transmission if it needs it. When I figure in what my time is worth, then I feel I'm way ahead at the end of the day! My appointment is 0730, the 28th at Cummins, Houston, TX., then I put the coach in garage for 6 weeks with a full tank of fuel, knowing it will be ready to roll...that's peace of mind! This is my 5th campground in the past 2 weeks. Wow, chasing down a loss ground is going to be so much fun! LOL...but it makes sense, thanks. Carl C.

haeffele Welcome to the forum! I don't want to be crude, but the question is how much does the person weigh that slept on the part that dropped 4 inches? Carl C. 10' AMC Tradition 45'.

This started about 2 weeks ago and now has gotten worse. When I turn a light on/off or raise/lower my window shades/blinds, all pads flash white 4 times and the pad that I touched stay at blue as it should. The blinking does not prevent me from getting what I want. All fusses are good and so is breaker, it only happens when I'm on 50 amp shore power, not with Generator. Any ideas would be appreciated.

bmcloud, Welcome to the forum. Your information is nice to know, but when you say bigger rigs, what length are you talking about and how are the roads getting in? Also, I have 4 slides!? Carl C. 10' AMC Tradition 45' Jeep Wrangler SWG INTO National Director

Good grief. Other than Kempner and Progressive ( mine), I've never heard of the rest! I would love to have something that cost less than Progressive with same coverage and service...$ 1,000 deductible! Currently have 3 chips in front windshield, easy and cheap fix. Replacement is very expensive! Carl C. 10' AMC Tradition 45'

OK, Brett. It's possible, but I've not run across a dealer, that efficient. Also, don't know if Eagle was "New". I would still have called AMC! There is more than enough money built in to be able to re adjust on the Heritage (not Horizon), even with the 30% off MSRP. Carl C.

I found nothing about price increase, not that it matters, glad I got 8 new ones in Oregon after rally!!! Saved big on no sales tax... Carl C. 10' AMC Tradition 45'

I'm with Brett. Also, about 10 gal. of water in black tank after dumping...nothing in gray. I don't want the extra weight of 110 gal. of water! Carl C. 10' AMC Tradition 45' Jeep W.

Medico. Your neighbor is either embellishing the truth or stupid. One night at Dealer and lost $ 50k!! No way. I would be on the phone to AMC in a heartbeat! Something smells.

I had a 97' Allegro 32' and no problems for the 6 years I owned it ( bought used in 2001). I got an Allegro Bus 36' new in 2011 and spent more time at Dealer and Red Bay, than camping. The plus side is that Tiffin does take care of the customer, even after the warranty period. Negative is that there seems to be no quality control during build...unless your there. I heard that Entegra Coach was originally Travel Supreme that went bankrupt. Have friends that have Entegra Aspire and like it, most of them (6 coaches) came back from Alaska last month and reported no problems at all during their 4 month trip! I have a Spartan chassis and get it serviced at Cummins or Freightliner and it's a very good chassis...had Power Glide on Allegro Bus and it's good also. Any large DP is going to have some problems and you can't compare a DP to gas rig. Good Luck and let us know, please, what you got! Carl C. 10' AMC Tradition 45' Jeep Wrangler

Hi. In the "old days", we had 2 problems with taking a shower, small holding tank and a 6 gallon water heater (gas). All off our shower heads had a on/off switch, you rinse and shut off water, soap up and turn on water for rinse...problem like you described would occur when the switch was placed in off mode after a shower by mistake. Your after market shower head wouldn't have a on/off, would it? Carl C. 10' AMC Tradition 45' Jeep Wrangler

Nacogdoches, Texas. South of Henderson, North of Lufkin! Good Luck with your new coach! Carl C.

Hi Carl, this is Carl. Generator Joe is in California, Google them if you wish, they handle ESCO automatic switches....your question about ESCO being better than what you have? Don't know. I think it's like who makes the best circuit breaker, Pacific, Square D or Cutler Hammer? Good Luck! Carl C. 10' AMC Tradition 45' Jeep Wrangler

Bucc-ees in Luling, Texas on I-10 is selling fuel at $ 3.159....lowest fill up for me in 7 years! Now, if you love Love's, they are across the Freeway at $ 3.829 and with your Sam's card? Or Prevost card? Carl C.

The new $ 0.26 cents per gallon fuel tax applies only to commercial vehicles. For us RV'ers it will only apply to LLC's and Dealers or anyone else who uses the RV for making money or representing a business that makes money...otherwise its $ 0.18 cents per gallon. If you are caught using the wrong pump as a commercial business, it's a $ 1,000 dollar fine and $ 10 dollars per gallon...OUCH!!! Carl C.

Caster Adjustment And Specs: 1998 Beaver 8 Bag Suspension
manholt replied to Glenns72pc's topic in Chassis
Little things like slides and electronics added to the problems we have always had in my RV life. Bigger engines and heavier chassis didn't help! Some changes have been a blessing...I still shudder at the thought of carrying (2) 150 gallon fuel tanks on a 30 foot Apollo! We got better regulations and radial tires, etc. So, to answer your question, I would say a little of both evolution and same old! We must also remember that everything out there in Class A, C or B, unless it's a Custom built coach, is a cookie cutter build. Carl C. 10' AMC Tradition 45' Jeep Wrangler -
Ray. Good luck! If I can't wear shorts and a golf shirt, I move! Carl C.

I'm guessing it's on a Doge chassis with a 440 engine, or an aspirated Ford. Please, let us know what you come up with? Carl C.- 8 replies

pmarth. How often does it get stuck? You also need to keep all parts lubed and clean. Don't put any weight on step until it's completely out. The odd's are your problem is the limiter circuit. A new motor is not cheap! Last resort. Carl C.
