dianahc, when it was checked to see it if was unlocked how far was the wheel turned with the engine off in the jeep? The reason I ask...if it wasn't turned from 9 to 3 there is a high probability the column wasn't unlocked. I asked another member on here that has the same jeep as yours, that was how it was explained to me.

WOW... I had 4 new Goodyear Assurance tires put on my company car last year. While I didn't experience this type of failure I had a serious problem of another. The car was like driving on ice, every time I'd step on the brakes the ABS would engage and it would slide to a stop. Trying to turn a corner I almost went off the road several times. Right now you are thinking SLOW DOWN....I was driving under the yellow posted truck sign speed in a car. Had those replaced after two weeks of white knuckle driving, no problem since with the replacement tires of a different brand.

You guys really need to head out to this side of the US, this is normal over here . The problem is you would need a full bag of Lynx levelers for each corner to level off a trailer and that's expensive. I agree the blocks are heavy and most carry 6x6's and stack them like cribbing . Here's something to think about, that trailer has NO parking brakes, unless he has scissor chocks between the wheels that are set properly (let that sink in) those blocks are the least of his concerns.

Joe, us too . Being a younger guy with a class a I have had several try and prove something. One trailer jockey in FL last year tried to antagonize me to race him, he had a king pin camper trailer with a 3/4 dodge Exhaust through the bed that resembled a trash can looking thing. Anyway I was rolling at 65 he come on the ramp pulls along side of me eyes connected, he backs off 1/2 mile, winds up he must have passed us pushing 90 and still accelerating, almost looses it when he hit my wind draft, thought I was going pull over and carry them out of the woods, small Kids in the back seat . As he passes I start reciting the vehicle code for all of the violations shaking my head. Poor kids have no chance if they are his In his defense it was getting late and considering his headlights were pointed at the clouds he did need to get where he was going before it got dark .

Almost did it on our 03 Wrangler, I rocked the wheel left and right missed the locks, sat in the coach and something didn't feel right, so I went back and muscled the steering wheel (Jeep engine off) just a little farther and it locked. Suspicions were correct, ignition wasn't sitting in the right spot. Bill I have backed up every Toad except when using the dolly. This Jeep tracks straight for about 100 feet when I see the wheels start to turn in the camera I stop. Sometimes you got to do what you got to do to reposition the coach.

Concern 1; is I am not retired so the possibility of sitting for several hours could and would most likely force me to extend my vacation. This the reason I will often drive for 12 hours, no choice with limited time off, this reiterated the reason we bought a DP, to be comfortable and not worn out on an extended drive. Concern 2; what tire are they going to sell me that is worth $300 that I will pay $800 for because I have no choice? Concern 3; being a service manager in the trucking industry, dealing with manufacturers and mechanics all the time, I have little faith most could effectively change a tire from the beginning to end of that process without putting us at risk afterwards or cutting corners as they get paid by the job plus mileage and the faster it gets done the more money they make. This practice often creates the most problems. Just picked up our Jeep from the dealer with the 3rd failed radiator under warranty, you should have seen that hack job. I had to correct some in the parking lot and the rest when I got home and that happened in a shop which is a controlled environment, not on the roadside.

I do agree with your mechanic. Camber being off will cause the steering wheel not to return to center, however if that was off it would have been miserable to drive prior to hooking up to the coach. Combine that with it being dragged behind the coach would have forced it to return to center even if it was off.

Can you attach a photo of the Jeep connected to the coach? perhaps that might show something.

Bill, the one I have is very similar to that. DD, haven't been that luck every time, guess I could bring a ratchet strap to squeeze the tire in lieu of....

Carl, id carry just the tire and tools to swing it on the side of the road, done so many of them over the years its pretty simple, have all of the tools to do so, just don't have adequate air for the Bead Seater DD...---Now that's the set up!!

If I had room something like this would be my 1st choice. I might get creative so I can change my own tires on the road.
