If considering solar I would start with a minimum of 600 watts and a MPPT controller which is 98% efficient. With good sunlight mine will charge at 40 amps.

Electric Clock and Modified Sine Wave Inverter
desertdeals69 replied to jlandon13399's topic in Electronics
If you always use a pure sine wave inverter you won't go wrong. -
It looks like your unit is defective. We have a Samsung induction range at home and a Burton single burner induction that we use in the motorhome. Both work perfect with good temp control.

One of the approved methods is to connect the positive jumper cable to the positive battery cable and then connect the negative jumper cable to the frame. If there is any sparking, it is far from the batteries. When disconnecting remove the negative jumper cable first.

I would presume that the plates are a little thicker which is the 4 lb difference in weight. Bottom line is the time the charge will power the inverter. I don't think the hydrometer reading would be important. All the batteries were charged in 3 stages all the way to float.

I needed new tires for my Prius so I looked on the Michelin site for 185/65R15 Defender and the price was $93.46. I went to Discount Tire where they will price match. Today and tomorrow they have a rebate special going on for $200 when you buy 4 tires. I bought the Michelins with the rebates for $62.00 each. I still have to pay for mounting and balancing but I would still have to if I bought them through the FMCA program.

I have just completed some battery test with confusing results. I constructed a portable solar system using 6 golf cart batteries, 2000 watt inverter/charger, 6 100 watt solar panels, and an MPPT charge controller. This is the identical system we install in motorhomes only this is built on a rolling cart with the panels adjustable for tilt. For my battery bank test I used: 6 5 year old Interstate GC2-110 61.4 lbs ea 6 new GC2-122 64 lbs ea and 6 new GC2-107 60 lbs ea, all came from Sam's Club. For inverter/chargers I used a Xantrex RS2000, SW3000, SW2012, and a Prosine 2000. My load was a electric heater set on low heat just over 1000 watts. The shut off voltage on the inverters were set at 10.6 volts. The old batteries went an average 2 hours, the 122 went average 4 hours 8 minutes, and the 107 went an average 4 hours. I was replacing the old batteries in my motorhome and since the 107 group was only a few minutes less I went with them. The cost difference was a savings of $169. I don't understand why it turned out this way.

I used Vista Print for my cards. Had a picture of my motorhome and printing on both sides.

Make sure the cables and terminals are clean, pure copper, no steel ends. Clean and coat with something to prevent oxygen from getting to the connections. Check to see if the water level is too high, the maximum voltage while charging, less than 14.5 volts.

When I go to Hawaii I don't have to worry about housing. I just stay with one of my kids! Usually we spent 3 to 5 weeks when were are there.

We started with motorhomes in the mid 70's. Our first motorhome was a 69 Lifetime 24 ft. After using it for several months sold it and got a 75 Pace Arrow. I was teaching so we had the summers to vacation. We covered the lower 48 states twice in 3 1/2 years and also eastern Canada. Our rv mileage now is over 400,000 miles with some 10 different motorhomes. Our kids were small when we started and there is not a better way to see the country than with an RV. Now, on occasion we take some of the grandkids with us.

Just bought 6 cg2 122 min @ 75 amp for $112.68 each at Sams Club.

Not complaining just an observation. I have 2 kids and 4 grandkids on Oahu. Quick trip of 4 days to help one of my grandsons with his science project.

Good thing I don't have my motorhome with me here in Hawaii. I saw diesel for $4.69 today. I saw is listed for $2.24 in Phoenix.

Looking for Wireless Router
desertdeals69 replied to royclem's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
We have the Verizon MiFi. It has worked almost every place we've been in about 30 states and we will try more this summer. It cost $50 month for 5 gig and we dropped our home internet connection and just use the MiFi. -
We have enjoyed the Smithsonian and DC area, spending about a total of 20 weeks over about 10 trips, over the last 38 years, always staying at Greenbelt National park. We've never not found new things to see and do.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid Problems -- Any Ideas?
desertdeals69 replied to ultraglide's topic in Type A motorhomes
I don't think I would ever want an engine that requires DEF. -
My first car was on a trailer because it was an automatic. It was a big pain in the neck because of having to find a place to park it and move it there with the motorhome.

I have docking lights at the lower rear on the sides.

In Az the sales tax is figured on the price difference if the purchase is made at a dealership. If you buy used from a private party there is no sales tax. I would not chance doing something outside the law as far as registration. There were a number of people in Colorado that did that and got caught and were fined tens of thousands of dollars.

Sam's also has a 122 for $112.68. I think the next time I change I will try them.

Usually the user starts the equalize process because they tell you to disconnect all 12 volt items because of the high voltage used to do the process. Make sure the inverter/charger is set for the correct capacity, if set to low it could overcharge.

Purging Contaminants From Water Lines
desertdeals69 replied to larrydyork's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Use hydrogen peroxide and it will completely disinfect the system and is not harmful to anything. -
I have always just used the carwash soap on the tires and rinse with spot free water. I prefer to polish my Alcoa wheels to a mirror shine so the attention is removed from the tires!!
