The point is that if the jacks fail and it comes down the wheels will not roll. -

With the way I did it I can turn as sharp as it will go and it doesn't hit. No guessing or calculating. -
Need Help With Car Hauler Math Equation
desertdeals69 replied to jonrjen's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
I had the same problem with my toad because it a 1/2 ton Silverado pickup. Another thing to consider is the turning radius. Without going through the math I just went to an empty parking lot, with the truck hooked up and turned a corner with my wife walking along side of the back bumper. When it got too close I straightened out. I extended the tow bar back 6 inches to get the proper clearance. -
Make sure your propane pressure is 11 inches wc.

Parking Class A RV on Driveway Incline

If you are leveling your coach, the ground won't be more than 1-2 degree slope because if it is you won't get it level with the jacks fully extended. -

Fresh Water Tank Vent - Position for Outside End
desertdeals69 replied to Wallee's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
I use a pint. I pour it into the hose then connect to the faucet and turn on the pressure. With an empty tank I fill about 5 gallons. Run each faucet in the coach for 15 seconds. Let it sit for 1/2 hour. Just go ahead and use the water normally, no need to flush.- 17 replies

With all of the concerns about warranty I think I would use a trailer if you are really wanting to use that vehicle. I would think of a different toad that is more compatible for towing.

Convection Microwave Oven Installation
desertdeals69 replied to GeraldScott's topic in Systems and Appliances
Is a convection oven a must have? Last year I replaced my microwave with a Kenmore 1.2 cu ft with a curved back wall. Its only available in one model but it is great for cleaning because there are no corners in the back. -
You should probably change the bulb to color temp 3000k so that the color will be amber, thats for best in fog.

Water System Question 2005 HR Vacationer
desertdeals69 replied to drakeygirl's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Sounds like a drain valve is open. Follow the hose back from where the water is draining to find the valve. On other possiblity is that there is a break in the plumbing. -
Check the voltage at the motor, if voltage is present then you motor is bad, if no voltage, then there is a bad wire or connetion.

Either the battery is too big or the shelf is too small. The full battery should be supported and anchored properly.

Fresh Water Tank Vent - Position for Outside End
desertdeals69 replied to Wallee's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
I tried bleach to get rid of a smell in the rinser spray on the kitchen sink. Several applications and the smell would come back in a day or so. I was told about hydrogen peroxide so I tried it. It's 88 cents a Wal Mart. Works perfect and no smell a year later. This treatment was brought up at a Newmar rally, a friend of mine told me about it. No flushing after it sits for a little while. I talked to a water treatment engineer and he told me that they always use it.- 17 replies

There seems to be problems, both major and minor with all makes. That seems to be the nature of RVing. It doesn't make any difference whether you buy new or used or which brand, someone somewhere has had problems.

When I let my air filter go to long it started pumping oil out the spitter valve. I thought my compressor had failed but talking to a truck shop they told me to change the filter and that should solve the problem. I did that and no more oil coming out of the spitter valve.

I don't have room to carry an extra hose and I don't want to use my fresh water hose for that purpose.

When we were in a campground in Key West they encouraged us to dump the grey water on the ground. That was some time ago.
-
When we need to we just dump the gray into a bucket and water the trees.
-
I haven't seen it done that way since the 60s-70s. I had a 60s Lifetime that didn't have any place for the gray water to go so I added a grey tank.
-
With water conservation you should be able to go for several days before needing to dump the grey water.

Regardless of size you need to have deep cycle batteries. Six volt golf cart batteries seem to be the best choice. The type of battery construction depends on your pocket book.
