  1. Well, depends upon your outlook, 26°F, wind gusts to 30 MPH. This coming Monday morning forecast 11°, clear sky - light wind. A week ago we were warmer than Houston_. I have a 150,000 btu kerosene torpedo heater in the RV garage, so let the wind howl. I work well when temps are 40-50° as long as there is no wind.
  2. No pictures of anything. I used Last Glue to repair the camera antenna and reinstalled it this morning. I must order the shield from WinnebagoParts.com Monday. If they cannot supply one, I'll have to resort to finding someone with a 3-D printer. That was one time thing, that bird will never have the guts to dive bomb a MH again. Shoot, forgot to clean off the dried blood while I had the ladder in position; there is always tomorrow though.
  3. I think your assessment is correct. Usually there is a backflow prevention device/check valve in the hot water outlet from the heater, another in the cold water inlet to prevent how water from expanding and pushing back into the cold water line. I can see my hot water check valve if I lay down and look up just right, to get to it I'd have to remove everything blocking access, water pump, automatic winterizing antifreeze tank, accumulator tank, and all associated water lines and solenoids. Do a 20 minute job, then reverse the access work. An all-day job all told for this 77 yr old. Some are all plastic BTW.
  4. There is a long thread about this occurrence, on irv2.com. That person got oil in the regulator and low-pressure lines. From that thread I learned Ethyl Mercaptan contains no oil. When I was a firefighter I was taught it was an oily substance, now I know that was not true. nj.gov/health/eoh/rtkweb/documents/fs/0894.pdf This explains in detail what Brett talked about: https://www.tarantin.com/blog/propane-101/oil-from-the-vaporizer
  5. My rear wireless camera has been flickering sporadically, but I thought little about it, just interference I told myself. Wednesday we took our MH for a long drive, just to get out of the house and exercise the MH. Yesterday I washed off the black dirt rain was washing off the pavement. Our MH has a large rear spoiler, there was som dark dirt on the underside of the spoiler and I was trying to wash it away with my long wash brush but it was stubborn. I bumped the rear camera and the antenna fell off. When I climbed my ladder to replace the antenna, I noted the black dirt was actually dried blood. Then I noticed the camera protective shroud was broken. Evidently a bird flew low and was hit by the spoiler at some point, then bounced down and hit the camera housing and broke off the antenna threaded connection. I would never have imagined such an occurrence. Now I'll be calling WinnebagoParts 800-933-7742 to order a new housing, if one is available for our MH, and ordering a new antenna from Voyager/Jensen. It never ends when owning a motorhome.
  6. sunlover19, my system will not allow the air springs to inflate while the jacks are down, no matter how long you idle the engine.
  7. Concluding this thread, we bought the 12V deep-cycle marine batteries. DW said she has no interest in any dry camping, and if it cannot be avoided, she wants to run the genset when anything more than making coffee or nuking a frozen sandwich is required. I thank everyone for their advice, opinions, and knowledge they shared with me.
  8. I did that 3 years ago, someone got a fairly new Marinco 50A shore power cord. Not only did I get to buy a new shore power cord. I had to replace the Marinco 50A socket. Expensive brain fart. Worst part, I was leaving my RV garage in a rush to meet my television guy to fix some wiring_.
  9. As Brett says; My coach must be level to extend and retract slide. A different brand states the opposite, can't remember the name.
  10. Some years ago our Dr. suggested I start using pure glycerine, OTC from drug store. Four drops on the knuckles of each hand will spread evenly over my hands. They feel great next morning. Glycerine is the main ingredient in most good hand care products. I used to use Corn Huskers lotion years ago, it is mainly Glycerine.
  11. We are a bit warmer in S. Indiana, 38 low tonight.

Factor, that link is what I use still today. It does not address normal maintenance,it is however a very thorough explanation of how a compression-igniton engine works, why and theories involved.
  13. it is accurately named Galvanic corrosion, as there is no electricity involved. Aluminum and brass are not far apart of the galvanic action scale, so should not cause near-future problems; 10 years from installation you may need to replace the rivets.

    Inverter Died

HuffyPuff/Ray, Look at a Xantrex 2012(2000w) PSW inverter,it is around $1,200 on ebay. The Xantrex 3012(3000w) is around $1,300 on Amazon. Mine is the OEM RS2000 PSW inverter, 20 yrs and still going strong. Plus, it is easy to rewire, just download the installation manual from the Xantrex website.
  15. No, they have a home-base in S.TX, so parked their rig for the duration. They've been back on the road, full-timing since last spring. Their daughter is doing fine. BTW, I have 2 implants, get the tops in April. No temporary tops. I have FEDVIP dental ins.(same program as congressmen) DW has 4, she's never had any issues with them in the past 6 years.
  16. You reminded me, I forgot to say TRICARE paid all differences Medicare did not cover. I chose distant vision as I was very nearsighted. Now I cannot read without glasses, this with the standard lenses Medicare covers.

    Inverter Died

You may find this webpage interesting reading: https://www.rvtechlibrary.com/electrical/sinewave.php Keep in mind, there have been improvements in the 13 years since that was written.
  18. Dometic Elite, model number ??? You may download the service manual from bryantrv.com Sounds like a dead short; one solution to that is - begin tracing wires. 12V is used to power the controls and door seal heaters.
  19. What Carl said is right! Well, the meaning anyway. Some doctors licensed in the U.S. near the border, have an office in MX too. For folks without insurance they advise them to contact the MX office. Doctors in MX are not required to carry the very expensive insurances required in the U.S. Friends of ours took their adult daughter to MX for dental implants, cost for full-mouth implants was $10k.
  20. That's what I did, my egg is at top port of rear cap.
  21. That belt-line is how my Winnebago MH is made, one of the negative traits is the mounting screws work loose. I have re-tightened mine twice, some were OK, some were loose, each time i use lok-tite. However, my MH is 20 now. The genset is a non-slide mount best I can decypher. The plastic tank beside the genset would be my windshield washer fluid tank, that one is larger. Winnebago mounted air horns above driver seat. I agree with Carl due to locations of items, number of bay doors, LP tank location, DP- 36-38' max.

You might run a search for "diesel engine theory" to start your learning adventure. One example result.
  23. No, not usually. DW is getting better and talks about traveling again. I'm preparing for dry camping, if required by her medical needs that has been preventing her from traveling. I can always run the genset all night when necessary.
  24. Yup, LP is a dirty-burning fuel.
