  1. Glad you arrived home safe and sound Carl! Your posts of your travels caused be to relive many pleasant memories. re: the power washer thing, I forgot to mention, Dave, the owner reminded me not to drive as usual until the brakes dried out. That's not much of a problem with disc brakes, shoes however don't like water.
  2. The 4 colors are explained here: https://henkeladhesivesna.com/blog/the-difference-between-red-blue-green-and-purple-threadlockers/ I use blue, because I do make mistakes, as difficult as that may be to believe. If threads are oily Loctite does not perform well. OP, the cost is $4,500 for front tires. Within that thread, a man explained about having a front tire failure on his Essex that resulted in $20K damage.
  3. Sometimes the tone ring for the ABS system gets clogged up with road dirt and grease, ice buildup, etc. I began seeing the ABS warning light illuminate at random times. A friend who owns a large truck service center told me to use my high-pressure washer from the opposite side of my MH to power wash the back-sides of the tires on the other side. I did, haven't had the ABS warning light come on again- outside of the normal startup procedure.
  4. I use TomCat mouse bait blocks. I drop them down into plumbing access holes in the floor, under the bottom cabinet drawers, etc. I have some wired to structural metal in the engine compartment. I have never took time to make one, but years ago a man on irv2.com posted a drawing of his child and pet proof mouse bait station for use anywhere. It consisted of an inverted "T" shape made from 1.5" PVC pipe= 3 1' lengths, 1 PVC tee, all glued together. The single leg of the T is capped with regular PVC cap with a 1/4" hole in the center, a 1' length of 1/4" all-thread and 4 nuts complete the bait station. The mouse bait block has a hole through the center which permits it to be 'dropped onto the length of all-thread-which has a washer between 2 nuts on one end. The other end it inserted through the cap and retained with the remaining 2 nuts. Hope that explanation sounds logical enough for you to construct your own bait station.
  5. Reach over on your right shoulder and shake your guardian angels hand for keeping you safe. Many automobile companies recommend completely flushing brake fluid, Ford, and Mercedes Benz , and BMW recommend 2 yrs, other mfgrs vary..
  6. This Battery Minder model says it works with up to 6, 12V batteries: https://www.batterystuff.com/battery-chargers/12-volt/restore/batteryminder-12v-model-128cec1.html That should cover your 4,,12V battery bank, plus your coach batteries, if you wish. Then I won't mention Interstate Battery sells the Battery MInder version of "mineral oil". https://www.batterystuff.com/battery-restoration/fluid/battery-equaliser-12-ounce-bottle-be12oz.html If I ever go back to open lead-acid batteries, have been using SLA, I will use that or mineral oil.

    TIRE Balance

I had the same experience at a local tire store that sells truck tires as well as auto, off-road tires, etc. Their computerized balance machine would handle any size rim up to 24.5"
  8. The only "wired" brake controllers, where the user may adjust braking strength, do not have a great track record. Search the internet for MH towed vehicle braking problems. One guy mis-adjusted his "wired" towed braking device, total repair cost was about $2K for new braking system on towed. I also have an M&G braking system, on our second towed vehicle too.

    Algae in fuel tank

Why would you add clean diesel fuel to a tank containing contaminated fuel? The "algae" forms only at the water/fuel line, it does not grow in clean fuel. IMO that exacerbated the problem.
  10. First off, is this a roof-top unit,(make N model please), or basement unit? Their part # G - 4015 - S - 1 search results are for an Audi, none of which are a fan or motor, unless I did something wrong in the search.
  11. What is the other half's opinion? I know what mine would say about me.
  12. If you have a full-width mud flap. leave it home; it kicks up more rocks than it blocks. When we went, some friends who went with us have an Essex towing a Ford Explorer. One one particular strip of graveled road repairs, when we stopped for the evening, their Explorer had the area where the wipers are full of rocks, even though they have the tow protector on their tow-bar. The wagonmaster suggested removing the mud flap, they did. That eliminated the gravel in the wiper area.
  13. Just ordered one, thanks for the information. I didn't know such an item was made.
  14. https://www.rvupgradestore.com/4-in-1-RV-Sewer-Extension-p/11-0555.htm sells them for $6.37. I should get one ordered. FWIW, rvupgradestore.com was started by the same man who began irv2.com.
  15. Those plastic straws are an innate object, it's the human that disposes of it improperly that is the problem. I always carry a spray can of contact cleaner and a can of wasp N hornet spray especially for those infrequently used CG pedestals.
  16. The remote-controlled floodlight on top of our MH was not working when we bought the MH. I found a direct replacement on Amazon, just haven't gotten to buying and installing the new floodlight. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V9EJSMW/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=A2ZPTIQAOP89XC&psc=1
  17. The third Friday of September is national POW/MIA day, this year it's Sep. 20.
  18. I agree Jim. If production is moved, I can foresee a negative impact in trying to duplicate a successful production line elsewhere with experienced dedicated workers who know the product. I was not throwing wet blankets, merely pointing out it's not a completed transaction. That last link says early in 2020.
  19. It was in 2013 through 2015, we endured it first hand. Haven't been back since. You are correct, it does not work. You understand why so many RV'ers are unhappy with CW service dept.; and perhaps why many are closing lately. I experienced it, had our MH in our garage 9 days out of 3 months, CW had it the rest of the days. The RV technician who related that to me was very good at his work. He left CW shortly after that for a different, private ownership RV sales and service company, as did several other employees. That might have been one of the reasons several RV centers have been reverting to the previous business name. FWIW, Camping World of Indianapolis does not own the business, legally it is Stoutes RV dba Camping World of Indianapolis, same with Tom Stinnet RV in Jeffersonville, who regained control of the business, no longer a CW. This is all on the internet if anyone is willing to search. I forgot to include, if a traveler stopped in with a problem, they worked their RV in that day, even to the point of pulling an RV out of a bay to work on the travelers RV.
  20. This is a better link to the process: https://www.streetinsider.com/Globe+Newswire/Winnebago+Industries+to+Acquire+Premium+RV+Manufacturer+Newmar/15916174.html
  21. One must understand how CW operates at the service desk level. Explained to me by a technician; you make an appt. for repair work,; you drop-off your RV at the appointed time, it is placed in rotation. When your RV reaches the top of the list it is pulled into a bay where diagnostic work is performed, then your RV is returned to the storage lot. Parts are ordered, If every part has arrived, your RV is placed on the rotation list again, your RV is pulled into a bay when it reached the top of the list-again, and repairs are completed. Now if it does not pass diagnostic tests after repairs, the entire process begins again. Our MH (long out of warranty) was at CW for 3 months after purchase, I did get to drive it home the day of purchase though. After the fact; I was told I could have taken our MH home to use while in rotation, until the service writer called me to bring it back.
  22. As Paul Harvey used to say, " and now the rest of the story": http://www.startribune.com/winnebago-industries-makes-340m-deal-to-buy-luxury-rv-maker/560485492/?refresh=true It isn't a done deal yet!
  23. Take note, the ice cube "trick" does not work to clean a tank, sensors-perhaps, as ice floats. When one thinks about it, dumping 20# of ice cubes into 20G of tap water(1/2 tank) pretty much insures the ice will quickly melt. http://forum.prevostownersgroup.com/showthread.php?8173-Will-Ice-Cubes-Really-Clean-Your-Black-Water-Tank
  24. We both love lobster, this was one of them: Would that be a balanced meal?
