Wayne we have/had that rule. When DW buys something, she says what are you getting rid of? One time I replied "my credit card", you can guess how that flew.

Fresh Water tank filling upon City Water Connection
rayin replied to Pbyrnes's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
No need to replace the entire pump, just replace the head/valves section. It's usually a bit of dirt stuck in the valve body. -
IMO, return the Rand McNally RV GPS. RM says lifetime maps; their website says they consider 3 years the lifetime of their products and will not support your GPS after 3 years. Rand McNally is now out of the RV GPS business and instead are focused on commercial trucking and the boating industry. Instead of spending a lot of money, I decided to buy a Chinese truckers GPS from Amazon for $79.(Rand McNally products are all mace in China too, you pay for the name) I've had it for 2 years now and it had been right every time I programmed in a trip. The OHREX map updates are $20 each and come on an SD card.

The MH RVIA sticker can be removed with a heat gun and gentle pulling. The older metal emblems are egg-shaped, attached with screws, and will not coincide with a newer MH.

The flame sensor has an additional function of supplying the spark to ignite LP, then the flame temperature generates about 14 millivolts to hold the gas valve open. You know the flame sensor is working because he flame remains lit, if it is faulty the flame will not remain lit. just use Scotch-brite to shine it up and replace it. Here is the Norcold 1211 service manual. On the same website is the installation instructions for constructing the chimney so the proper convection occurs, when the chimney is ill-constructed the cooling unit over-heats, resulting in cooling unit failure. The divider and defrost cycles are set by the control board. I don't remember more, but I think I remember reading the 12V+ wire to the flapper can be cut and a switch inserted to conserve battery power. The service manual should address that. Have you got a fan on the back of the fridge blowing upward on the coils to improve ventilation? This is especially important if your fridge is in a slide. If the coolant mixture does not dissipate heat quickly enough, your condition is what happens You can buy a small blower type 12V fan for less than $10, which will move much more air than a muffin - computer type fan. I have one on the back of my 1200 LRIM that works great.

Without an inverter you will never have 120VAC power when dry=camping/ not connected to a generator, solar panels, or shore power.

Exactly!

Welcome to the FMCA discussion forums! X3 As you can tell, we tend to apply the KISS principle before spending money.

Who, What, When, Where or Just Lets Talk

I begin the search for a used lower front cap and step assy. now, then notify the insurance co. where the parts are located. RV salvage yards by state. Oddly enough, the newer the MH the harder it is to locate used front or rear caps. Then again, Foretravel might be one of the very few MH mfgrs to keep molds for previous models. -
Stop by an RV salvage yard and remove the RVIA nameplate from a wreck, then use double-sided trim tape to attach to your MH near the door. That should blunt the questions about an obviously well-built MH/touring bus. RV salvage yards by state.

Manual or automatic system? I assume you already have this: https://help.rwb-inc.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045550852-RVA-Leveling-System-Turns-On-None-Of-The-Jacks-Deploy-Pump-Does-Not-Run

I agree with campcop. With the wire disconnected does your inverter monitor panel have power? Inverters are always "hot", when you turn on the inverter it tells the inverter to begin monitoring the supplied 120VAC receptacles.

Yes, without details we must guess instead of share knowledge and experience. Please provide brand and model of A/C, and same for thermostat. Some thermostats can be reset by disconnecting from all power for at least 30 minutes, which is enough time to check the fuse and have a cold beverage. Being near the ocean helps with lower humidity, but temps are still about the same, enjoy.

Don't bother speaking with the regular operators. Request and speak with a supervisor, they have the authority to approve reimbursing you for the tow charges. When I did that , the supervisor mailed me the forms, I completed them and mailed them back to her with a copy of the bill. Four weeks later I received the check in the mail for reimbursement. This problem arises because the regular operators do not have the authority to call anyone capable, they must remain within the list of approved providers shown on their computer screen. I found and called the only provider who had the equipment to tow my MH 60 miles to the nearest Cummins repair shop. I then called ERS, spoke with a supervisor; she said company rules said she still had to call everyone on their list again, and did.. She called back to say, yes the provider I found was the only one with 100 miles of my location who would and could tow my MH. When the wrecker arrived it was a 1T wrecker to tow me out of the RV park to the highway. Then the big tandem axle wrecker switched my MH to it. So that was 2 wreckers driving 120 milee, and 6 hrs. time; the bill was $1.200. I paid the bill during those calls, so the reimbursement was quite welcome.

IMO the Viair brand is vastly over-priced, mine from Harbor Freight performs well and cost $59. Now if a Viair is used continuously for 6-8 hrs. yes it will outperform the HF copy, but what is the projected longest continuous-use? I've run my HF copy for 20 minutes continuous without apparent damage, I can't imagine longer use. You're right wildbill; I added a 150G tank to my shop compressors 80G tank and even though the compressor CFM is not great I don't run out of 90 psi shop now when using a impact gun.

I agree with you Mike about your 2nd paragraph. It is quite easy to become upside-down with an RV loan, then inflation kicked butt. That left may pandemic -era RV buyers in a financial bind. Bill, I can't speak with my lawyer until I've exhausted the Progressive MH policy terms and conditions. I'm hoping to get the umpires decision by the end of Sep. We haven't been able to use our MH since April 2022. I am working on things as much as possible in anticipation of doing some camping before the snow flies. I plan to change the motor oil in the drive engine and genset this week. Even though it has about 3,000 since last changed, It has been nearly 2 years. -
I have the setup Mike described, but with a Fini brand compressor from Menards. If you don't want to spend that much money, check out this 150 psi 12V compressor from Harbor Freight: https://www.harborfreight.com/search?q=12V 150psi air compressor I've owned one for about 20 years now and it still performs like it when I bought it, although it is slower to add air than the 120V 150 psi Fini pancake unit.

Wayne, Bill; I suspect that is a delaying tactic in an effort to force me to give up and pay the differential cost of the body work out of pocket. Ain't gonna work! I will exhaust the terms on the Progressive MH policy then I"m free to contact my lawyer. -
FMCA Roadside Rescue, "Sorry, we can't help you".
rayin replied to bjstanley's topic in Roadside Assistance
BJ, Call them again and request to speak with a supervisor. When asked why, just say uninformed operators. Now the regular operators can only read the computer screen and respond accordingly.. They are required to call their entire list of providers to find the lowest cost quoted, then dispatch that provider - if they find one. Only a supervisor has the authority to approve your bill from the towing company and authorize reimbursement. Most likely they will mail you the form to complete and attach to your bill, which will be marked "paid in full" naturally. Even when given the name of a towing company capable of towing your rig that is NOT on their list of approved providers the operator and/or supervisor must go through the lowest cost procedure again, company rules. Been there done that with Good Sam ERS. I've read the same complaints on a different RV discussion forum about Coach_Net, AAA, and others. -
Without identifying and correcting the object that caused the air bag to fail, you are wasting money and time replacing the air bag. I might have been age and wear N tear. What is the year, make and model of your RV?

Right, should be 3.9 meters. Anyway this thread is 32 months old and I've stopped visiting Canada and Mexico. There's only one highway in the U.S.A. with SI measurements

Thanks Mable! Herman was a fine man, and IMO this thread is a tribute to his dedication to FMCA. Wildbill, Not much progress. I just found out today the court-appointed umpire/arbitrator had been getting the run-around from Progressive Ins. about paying him. That is the reason for the latest delay. -
My eggs have been attached to the MH caps with Alien Tape since I joined 10 years ago.

This forum appears to be a catch-all, about like the who, when, where thread, as I see many different subjects posted along with pictures of members rigs.
