  1. About 10 years back we stayed at the Yosemite West / Mariposa KOA, 6323 Highway 140, Midpines, CA. 95345 it is just outside the park and a quick drive in for sightseeing. They can accommodate your 40 foot no problem. full hook ups, $55 - 65 I think. This is a very busy park during the summer months so vacancy could be an issue from here to October,,
  2. Lots of very cumbersome logistics behind this one that would likely kill it. in addition gas and diesel are very reasonable $$ right now which kind of kills the economic benefit today. Off the top; questions that come to mind..... would there be a standardized trailer that one would have to purchase in order to be eligible to swap? what is you ended up swapping for a trailer with an older battery that doesn't have the range left in it? what is the trailer is years older than yours and the tires are iffy? who pays to refurbish or replace the batteries as they become obsolete? who pays for the electric to recharge if the trailer weighed over a few thousand lbs, then all motorhomes would need a brake controller or all trailers would need hydraulic brakes how much would the trailer be to purchase including batteries? I am thinking big $$'s if one is towing a battery trailer, how does one also to a toad? wouldn't a campground offering these trailers for swap need a large parking/storage area in addition to what they already have? won't said campground have to substantially upgrade their electric to support? Just a few issues that would have to be sorted and likely the capital investment cost in relation to the number of electric RV's out there combined with the lengthy payback period, would be huge obstacles.
  3. I just order the replacement topper awnings from the coach manufacturer, in this case Winnebago, and then have them installed at a local dealer. no issues and not overly expensive. Just did one, $200 for the topper, $100 for installation,,suppose I could have saved the $100 and installed myself but I didn't want the hassle,,
  4. The AC unit is located at the rear passanger side of the motorhome. Minimal storage space is lost as right next to the engine in a DP. As far as noise, about the same as what you can hear from your roof top models when sitting outside, not much.
  5. We have basement air in our 2010 Itasca Suncruiser and absolutely love it! It works very well, keeps the coach cool in the warmest weather including southern states in the summer time, and is much quieter than roof top mounted. Cant speak to those who have had issues with, could be a coach by coach manufacturing issue,,,,
  6. RPStewart, FlyingJ locations offer RV filling islands that will accommodate your RV and toad. We frequent them almost exclusively when travelling. Gas prices are usually her competitive. Sign up for the Pilot rewards card and get further savings. You can find the nearest location by simply using the MyPilot/FlyingJ or BigTruckStops Ap. Both are available for Android or iPhone. Enjoy your travels...
  7. I would go straight to Ford for the second opinion.....
  8. The Mrs. follows Clint Bowyer and is hoping for a comeback this year. I am a Jimmie Johnson fan, have been for over 12 years. I also follow Kyle Larson and Dale Jr. We have attended races at over a dozen tracks and hope to eventually get to them all. We have tickets to 5 that we haven't been to this fall. Chicagoland, Darlington, Kansas, Martinsville and Richmond. enjoying the season so far..
  9. Wouldn't this be covered under warranty on such a new RV?
  10. Wow, a classic Allegro and a DeLorean DMC-12? Talk about retro!
  11. I have owned 2 Winnebago's and without exception all Winnebago authorized dealers provide warranty service work whether bought there or not. Perhaps they are the exception?
  12. Welcome fellow NASCAR fan! We plan on attending 6 races this season, mostly from September thru November.
  13. We use the Kiley Mold brackets on the ladder. Also use these brackets to mount others. You might be able to guess, we are Nascar fans..
  14. Can't make Indianapolis this year, but will be in attendance next! I still think the membership dues are affordable and the benefits offer good value!
  15. Regarding the 2002 Winnebago Adventurer battery issue, Yes all batteries, 2-12 V deep cycle chassis and 1-12 V house, are all located beneath the entry stairs which is open below to provide appropriate venting. Regarding your model and year, it is quite common for the house battery's 6 cells to "boil" or just "evaporate" dry and require a top up of distilled water every 6 months. I suspect that the smell from your battery compartment that you are experiencing is due to the converter trying to charge dry cells. Servicing the Deep Cycle House batteries every 6 months is the only solution I know of... Ian
  16. I have a similar chassis, Workhorse with a Allison Transmission although mine is a 2010 Suncruiser. In mine the Allison is a 6 speed transmission with a digital display on the dash that indicates what gear it is in. Mine also has a tootle switch that allow me to toggle down to a 5 speed and if desired to a 4 speed which in essence disengages the OD. On the freeway usually leave OD on and in 6th. On secondary Routes, speeds of 50-55 mph, usually leave OD on and in 5th. On very hilly terrain also usually OD on and in 5th. So yes, generally the OD is on. No issues so far, As far as the smells you are noticing, you may have a ceiling vent open that is near your black water roof vent that is the culprit. At hwy speeds the back pressure may be pulling it into the MH. This used to happen in our 2001 Suncruiser. Ian

    DD 13 Fuel Leak

Huge Pilot / Flying J customer. Love their RV islands. No issue using credit card in combination with the Plus card, to date. Price is usually competitive.
  19. I am perplexed, why not just follow the manufacturers recommendation of Valvoline Premium Blue 15/40?
  20. We have regularly frequented Blue Beacon in our travels over the last 5 years. Always a great wash and result. Don't know what they use on my aluminum rims but they look better now than when I bought our coach.
  21. I feel for you! Bureaucracy seems to be a North American past time!
  22. Have always used locking hitch pin. 10 years now. Keep the key on my Motorhome key ring so it's always with us. Have never had an issue. And good piece of mind when I leave the tow bar on the MH when we're away site seeing, shopping, touring , it's secure.
  23. I just moved from Good Sam to FMCA Roadside Assistance. FMCA appeared to have many more benefits/services tailored to the Motorhome owner.
  24. We usually turn ours off when on city water, but then again we also often forget. Not an issue either way as far as I can tell.
