Need An RV Park Between Tallahassee And Jacksonville, FL
bizsmith@yahoo.com replied to coachinit's topic in Campgrounds
There is a super state park very near Lake City just off I10. Stephen Foster SP. More than adequate for overnight. Reservations will be getting tight. Check Reserve America. -
An RV equipment only "garage sale" might be fun. No household junk or vendors allowed, only serviceable used RV equipment.

Front Wheels off the Ground When Leveling
bizsmith@yahoo.com replied to neilcarol's topic in Leveling
I don't like having the front wheels off the ground as I only have one jack in front. Sometimes I can help this by driving onto the "Lego" type leveling blocks and then use the jacks to fine tune. -
Good Sam Roadside Assistance versus Coach Net
bizsmith@yahoo.com replied to tiffinphaeton's topic in Roadside Assistance
Probably posts are overworked. Responses seem to indicate they are about equal, you just have to make a choice. Coach Net for me. -
We were at topsail hill in fl last year. Nothing special but the coaches were nicely decorated.

Campground Recommendations Near Ft Myers, FL
bizsmith@yahoo.com replied to whiterv's topic in Campgrounds
Look at Glades east of Labelle. Not real close to Ft Myers but far enough that it may be more reasonable. Admittedly in the middle of nowhere but we have overnighted there and it is OK. Try right in Labelle, there is a really nice one there. -
Was I Dreaming-- RV Resort/Campground in TN and NC?
bizsmith@yahoo.com replied to sfccpa's question in Destinations/Attractions
We stayed in a resort at Lake Toxaway, NC much like you described only the sites were not along the road. Most sites were privately owned but owners rented them out if they were off somewhere else. Built in barbecue centers, the works. -
TST works well for me

Swestrup - we had the work done at Alliance Coach in Wildwood, FL. They mostly use the Samsung French door and always have them in stock. We were mostly satisfied but no matter where you go they will never do it as fast as you would like. They have a "campground" where you can stay but be sure to make your appointment so you get a place.

Anyone out there have an after market scheme for alternating the AC's when you are on 30 amp power? I could probably figure one out but why reinvent the wheel?

Remove Refrigerator From 05 Discovery
bizsmith@yahoo.com replied to nancydude's topic in Systems and Appliances
The drivers side window was much easier to remove than the windshield, but I can't speak for your coach. -
I would go with #4, but I'm the type that uses 2 nails when one will do when I build something. #4 will allow for future. Better safe than sorry.

The large plastic cutting boards seem good to me. I have large Teflon sheets about 1/8" thick that were specially made for tire landing pads. They are indestructible and I've had them for years. Unfortunately the company in Princeton, MN went out of business so again I would try the cutting boards. This company also had the teflon in sheets about 2' by 4' that are great for sliding under the coach. The Teflon makes it almost as easy as a creeper but you can use them on soft ground even mud.

99 monaco exec. Seems like I always get 8 mpg.

I firmly believe that a preowned coach that has had good care will beat a new one every time. The bugs are fixed and sometimes I question the quality of the newer models. We have sat in the waiting room of a large service facility waiting to have elective service and the complaints of the new purchase customers are either hilarious or heartbreaking. I'll take my '99 Monaco exec any day.

Thanks for the warning. We have a diesel coach and I was advised to avoid small service stations where small turnover might result in water by condensation but everyone needs gasoline for the toad and the BP situation you warned about is unforgivable.

Are there other people out there that do without TV? It always amuses us to see how quickly the satellite dishes get deployed when people pull in to a campground. We do have a small set that we set up once in a while but we stay mostly in state parks that may be isolated from reception via antenna. On one trip we set up the TV one time in five months.

Good Sam Roadside Assistance versus Coach Net
bizsmith@yahoo.com replied to tiffinphaeton's topic in Roadside Assistance
We have been satisfied with CoachNet. They have responded adequately on four occasions. Just hope that you never have to use whichever you choose. -
I have TST system. It has been very good after early problems with sensors. Problem sensors were replaced free of charge at Madison last summer.

My real preference is DeLorme software on a laptop in conjunction with paper maps especially the Rand McNallley truckers atlas. I prefer to lay out the exact route I want to follow without relying on a GPS to keep me off roads I don't want to be on. If I want to follow a scenic route on secondary roads, I can do that.

Posts in italics are very difficult to read especially on a small screen.

If you do have 120 volt fixtures (our coach has one) there are LED bulbs available that screw in to replace a regular incandescent.

One reason GPS units sometimes give wrong info on campgrounds is that they are only as good as the coordinates provided by the campground. An example is Topsail Hill in the Florida panhandle. All the GPS units missed it because the campground provided the wrong coordinates. Just saying sometimes its not the fault of the GPS.
