    ISX valve failures

The new ACs have an ISX with 605 HP.
  2. Good advice, I basically do what you suggest. On one of my earlier samples, the hose they sent wasn't long enough, so I called and they sent me a roll of 50'. When I first got it, I pulled the dip stick, measured it, then added 6" and now make my tubing that long. JG's instructions are good, they hit the things you noted like don't take the sample from the bottom and only use the hose once. I had a problem once with the tube not wanting to go smoothly through the opening. So now, a few days before I'm going to take the sample, I cut off the length tube I need, put very light weights on each end with clothes pins and hang it over a door. Since the tubing is rolled pretty tightly his straightens it out enough so the procedure is easier.
  3. You're probably smart to get them on line.... lots faster that way. I don't get any W2s either....I'm no longer encumbered with J....O....B. I say "W2/1099s" out of habit.
  4. I don't think there is a ''right or wrong" as long as the burner gets exercised. I had to go looking for the procedure noted above, too...page 11, of the AH manual. It's my understanding that when exhaust is hot, the burner has cycled off.
  5. I use JG Lubricant Services in Houston. The owner, Tom Johnson, is a retired Allison engineer. With your initial purchase, you order a pump and instructions as to how to take a sample. It's very simple, warm the trans fluid, attach a small container and a nine foot hose (both provided) to the pump, put the hose into the trans fluid and the pump draws the fluid into the container. Put the container in a shipment bag (provided) and mail to the lab. I've been doing this for two motor homes 11 years....you will get a very detailed explanation of your fluid, and a bottom line recommendation as to it's status. If you have questions, call the lab. Often as not, Tom will answer the phone. Based on JG Lab's recommendations, I have not changed the fluid in either MH....also, for a MH, there is no real value in changing to TES 668. They made it so it can be used in a wider selection of transmissions. https://jglubricantservices.com/ 877-971-7799
  6. My problem with taxes is waiting for the W2s/1099s. Some are always late, and what's worse, one particular company sends a change just about every year, which is lots of work.
  7. Lloyd DeGerald, one of the AH gurus, recommends turning on the burner at least monthly, walk to the back of the MH (that's where my AH exhaust is), when the exhaust is warm, go back to the panel and shut it down, exercise over.
  8. Have you had the present trans fluid tested? If it tests good, a change is not required.
  9. True, but why not run them together, and use some of the CG's electricity to help your burner that is using your diesel? When we get to a CG, we turn on the electric, it stays on all the time, and turn on the burner as needed.
  10. You sure went to lots of trouble...the AH manual says it burns .4 GPH, when actually running, not just when it was turned on. I turn mine on only if it will be used. Normally, that is showers, only if it's cold out ant the electric can't keep up, and to take off the morning chill for the same reason.
  11. Yesterday we went from Biloxi to N. Little Rock, fighting a very stiff head wind all the way. We usually average around 7 MPG....yesterday the Silver Leaf was showing a lot of numbers in the 5 area. The big diesel doesn't care....just gets a bit thirsty. Took on 106 gallons of fuel at a Loves for $420...haven't seen what kind of discount my ESF card will give us.
  12. Try Southern Tire Mart. Great service and prices.
  13. 27 in Biloxi this morning!☹️ But it's crystal clear and forecast for 55 this afternoon.

    Gas or Diesel

We don't have much information on which to base data we would provide. We've had six RVs....two pulled by gas pick ups, a fifth wheel pulled by a diesel dually, a Class C gasser, and two Class A diesel pushers. The only reason I would not get another DP, is when I get so old I would want to downsize. What is your RVing experience, what RVs have you had in the past, what size are you looking to get?
  15. We are on Splendide number three....two combos and one stackable. Our first was in the "nice to have'' category. After about a month that category changed to "we'll never have another RV without one."
  16. Those RV shows are getting expensive. We went to the Mobile show two years ago (last year's was cancelled), it was under $10 and they offered free Good Sam CG guides...$30 retail. This year it was $12 each, no discount and no CG guides. They did have lots of RVs of all types.
  17. If I was buying new tires, I'd sure check around on various forums prior to buying Michelins. There are many posts about problems with them on motor homes.
  18. It's 73 on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.😀
  19. Your best bet is to call the company. We've had three different Splendides in three different RVs, but I've never heard of a Bendix in an RV.
  20. As noted, lots of water is the key. Also, some of the newer coaches are coming with macerating toilets....they help as well.
  21. You are in the VA system if you are getting RXs and physicals from them. In order to 'join' you must prove service....DD214 (other than Honorable Discharge can deny benefits), proof if claiming wounded (Purple Heart on the DD 214 or certificate), proof of income if wanting medical care, and other requirements. When I was last in my VA, Nov 2021, my doc was complaining about the VA being so crowded, with many using the system and trying to get disability funds with "flaky" claims....her term, not mine.
  22. Where I store my MH has standard house power. Which is fine for me, all I plug in is my charger, and a few 60 watt old style light bulbs for winterization. If I need more heat (space heater/Aqua Hot), floor heat, or air conditioning, micro wave or similar high power appliances, I unplug the MH and fire up the generator. The OP stated he'd like to run his appliances....just have a qualified RV electrician put in 30 amp service. As noted above be sure the electrician knows that it is for an RV.
