  1. I did as Brett said. I took out the old TV from the cabinet. To this day I don't know how I got that old heavy thing down. I took the cabinet down cut off 7" from the front and used the same frame for trim. I found a Vizo TV that was the exact same width as the cabinet. One thing I might suggest is to find a TV that has the speaker in front and not on the bottom. Also if replacing more than one TV do not buy the same make for each TV. I got two Vizos and have to be very careful when turning one on when the other is on. Their remote frequency is the same. One Vizo and one Samsung would be a lot better. Herman
  2. oceans351, Is your Roadtrek a daily user or do you use it only for trips? Had it been in storage or the garage for a period of time? Rodent may have been chowing down on the wiring. They seem to love the soybean byproduct in the sheathing. Herman
  3. There are Fam Camps in both El Paso, TX and Tuscon, AZ. Although I am a veteran I am not retired (8 years Navy, sorry about that Wayne), we do travel with a a retired Army Sargent Major. Has anyone stayed at either? Are they hard to get into? I have looked on line and neither one takes reservation. Thinking of them while on route to Chandler the last of February. Herman
  4. Cap, try a bar of soap. Clean both the upper and lower channels with an old tooth brush and a vacuum. Then take a small bar of soap, like you get from a motel, and rub it back and forth in the track. The soap will lubricate the channels and help the windows slide better. (this can also be used to lubricate a zipper) Good sliding. Herman
  5. Ron & Sue, There are lots of things going through Missouri with all the caves. Take them to the original Bass Pro Shop in Springfield. When in Chicago don't miss the Museum Of Science and Industry. They have lots of things that will interest both the 13 and 8 year old. You might try letting the kids help plan the trip. Let them decide where they would like to go and what they would like to see. It could be both exciting and educational for both. (of course guidance would help.to). Have a great trip. Herman
  6. One thing to note when welding on your coach. always disconnect the Ground Cable from both sets of batteries. It wouldn't hurt to disconnect the Positive Cables also. Then place the Ground Clamp of your welder as close the the area being welded as possible. Do not put the Ground Clamp 10 feet away just because it is the easiest place to connect. Herman
  7. 95monaco Welcome to the Forum. Even in some standard shift vehicles they may still need the gear to rotate for complete lubrication. Check with a Porsche dealer or website. Then check to see if anyone makes base plates for your Boxster. Herman
  8. rs, Welcome to the Forum. 315s on the front should not be an issue. However spacing should be addressed. Be sure that the space is adequate when all of the coach weight is on the tires. Have not heard yea or nay on the Toyo tires. Herman
  9. Joe, as the ole real estate saying goes, "location, location ". Space for 1,500+ coaches, rooms for seminars, large area for vendors, large area for entertainment and a state that will allow RV dealers and coach manufacturers to come in. And hopefully in an area that is convenient for both coast. That is why there are some few places to have large RV Rallies. Herman
  10. rhuggett and bruxux, Welcome to the Forum. Brett and Bill will both tell you and I agree, do not start your engine and just let it run till it reaches operating temp. and then turn it off. If you can't take it out for a drive, 25 miles at least then don't start it. A short run of the engine will create condensation which will get into the oil and you don't want that. It is best to have your unit serviced, water system drained, RV antifreeze put in all drains including the toilet and putting a trickle charger on the batteries. Disconnect the ground cables if you can't put on the trickle charger. Also in some cases you can call your insurance agent and do what is called "Put the coach in Storage". This will drop your liability and collision coverage but keep comprehensive coverage in place. Over a 5 to six months period can amount to quite a bit of money. (Only a few insurance companies offer this.) Herman
  11. Good morning David, If you have a defective check valve aka back flow valve then when hooked up to city water your water tank can fill up. If when not connected to city water do you hear the pump cycle even when you are not using any water? If so then the valve is leaking enough to allow the pressure to drop and cycle the pump. In your water system do you have a filter or filters in place? Does your water pump have a debris screen(filter)? Have you checked each faucet to be sure they are clear? these are a few of the places I would check. I just recently had a low water pressure problem, I found two problems, My accumulater tank had a ruptured bladder and the check valve was bad in my 1 year old pump.(Surflo) IGot the tank at Lowe's and Northern Tool replaced the pump under warranty. By the way, when changing the tank be prepared for a bit of weight. The tank was a 2 gallon unit but with the buster bladder it had about 5 gallons in it. was able to drain about half before wrestling it out of the bay. Good luck and let us know what you find. Herman

  13. jgarner721, If it hasn't been said, Welcome to the Forum. What type of material is your enclosure made of, Wood, molded plastic, ? Also in most TV enclosures you will find 110 Volt outlets that are only providing power when your ignition key is off. (I believe it is a Law that manufacturer must comply with) Was the plug enclosed where it couldn't be seen or just in a compartment? Some compartments are designed to hold VCRs and Satellite receivers and have outlets close by. Herman

Bill another route would be as you said to take 287 south to just south of Wichita Falls and pick up Hwy. 82 East. 82 east past Sherman and pick up Hwy. 69 South down to I-20 and East from there. At Shreveport you can pick up I-49 south to Lafayette for I-10. By taking Hwy. 82 to 69 you will miss all of the Dallas traffic. Also just after you turn south 8 miles on 82 there will be a 4 way stop sign. Honk really loud, you will be 2 miles from our farm. Safe travels no matter which way you go. Herman
  15. Five is correct, the coach needs to be level before extending the slides. This will help in preventing them from binding. I have made is part of setting up to relevel once the slides are out. Herman
  16. Five is correct just make sure that the couch has a steel frame that can be secured to the floor and that it can accomadate seat belts. Better to be safe than sorry. Herman

  18. Joe, I knew that there was a problem and didn't know if it was in the plugs or the heads. You cleared it up for me. I know it is quite a trip to Chandler for you but will you be in Indianapolis? Would love to meet you face to face at our "Meet and Greet". Herman
  19. Keon, Earlier models of the Ford V10 had an issue with the spark plugs. It seemed to be a problem with the length of the treads in the heads. I am not sure what was done but the problem has been solved. When Ford first introduced the V10 is was a bit short of Horse Power, but that issue has also been resolved. The V10 has become a fairly good engine. I am still a fan of the old 460 engine. Herman
  20. Bruce, isn't it ironic that from out of nowhere someone will put a container right where you are going.? Sorry for your mishap we have all been there, done that, and got the tee shirt.   21. Keon, if the door latch key is a Trimark, the number stamped on the key is not the code. It is the model number blank and must be must be cut to match your current key. In the original post I believe you were asking about the dead bolt. As I mention before, if your current dead bolt is the same make as your home lock just take the cylinder out and go to a locksmith or even Lowe's and have it keyed to your home key. Simple job. Or just take the cylinder to a locksmith and have them make a key and recode the cylinder. Herman

  23. Yes and no Keon. Most RV deadbolt are common to residential locks. However for example in our coach the deadbolt is placed where the standard bolt is too short and it has an extension on it. The extension is held on with a roll pin. One time pin broke in the locked position. One thing you might consider when and if you replace the lock is to match it with the same lock you have at home. You can then have it re-keyed to the same key for your home and then you won't a be adding another key to your key chain. We do have a keyless lock on our coach and we love it. What I love is when I unlock the door with the pad or remote, it unlocks the door and all bay doors st the same time. Doing the door with a keyless lock might not be too hard, but the bay doors might be cost prohibited. Herman
