  1. I-75 N headed toward Alpena, MI. Road was a mess. Got off on to side roads and they were smooth and nice.
  2. No hornets nest intended either, but I'm standing by my original post. In 99.9% of the time a tear of fabric will distort the edges whereas a sharp object will leave a fine cut that can be held back together by hand and see almost a perfect fit. A tear will show the distortion. The strap on the awning is a heavier duty material than a piece of clothing. Now, with all that said, it may not have been the people next door. Sometimes the "spirits" flow freely and someone wandering around says to his buddy, "Watch this!" (That's rednect speak for "Oh oh!"). Or some rambunctious children could have been pranking. One never knows and it could have been all coincidental. BIll Adams summed it up very nicely.
  3. I'm real close to sure he could figure out a cut versus a break/tear.
  4. I'm sure others will come along shortly with suggestions. I'm a DISH Network user. I take the VIP-722 from the house into the MH when we travel. I was tired of the trouble it took to set up an open face portable satellite antenna. I went to the Winegard Carryout. Granted it will receive only one satellite at a time so the full functionality of the receiver is missing, but we watch the same programming so not much of a hassle. Winegard has a newer model, called the Anser that receives all of the DISH programming via one satellite. That should restore the full functionality of the receiver. None of this includes "local" programming which is a spot beam and will be lost after about 250 miles away from home - give or take. I'm seriously looking into installing the Winegard traveler antenna on the roof. It is open faced and will receive all the satellites and give me full functionality of the receiver.
  5. Everyone that travels in an RV knows the roads in the Yukon are bad. However when traveling on roads in the Continental United States one would expect that the roads would be considerably better. We left Texas, traveled East, up the East Coast, and we encountered roads that are in dire need of repair. The NY Throughway up I-87 and over to the Mass Pike is horrible. When I stopped at the toll both I told the agent that they should pay me for traveling on their roads. He just laughed. Travel to Leweston, Youngstown, Buffalo, Niagara Falls and the roads are in bad shape. The manhole covers sit at least 2 inches below the surface of the road and give one heck of a jolt when having to run over one. I play dodge-em when i can. When we leave here we will travel across the QEW in Canada and I'm looking forward to the ride - not getting there through the NY roadways though. Where does all that toll money go anyhow?
  6. We have stayed at Hardeeville RV park. Not much in amenities but only about a 15 minute ride to Savannah (10 miles). It is also Passport America. Can't beat the price for a few days stay.
  7. 2nd or 3rd Oasis RV park in Amarillo. If you can spend a few days in the area, Palo Duro Canyon is 30 miles from Oasis. Take in the outside show in the park. Travel about 40 or so miles east on the interstate and visit Groom, TX. Visit the "Stations of the Cross." Oasis is rock and gravel but nicely laid out with plenty of room. They also have a repair shop on-site. (Just in case)
  8. Oops! Never thought to check the date, was just following up to the post on July 21st. I need to be more observant. Shucks!
  9. Dana, We have a 2008 DP. We are on a trip and once we hit the New Jersey, New York, and Mass roads there were some extreme bumps and road scratches that made our coach sound like a freight train. The back bedroom has two built in speakers and the perforated cover on one of them rattled off. Sounds like the coach is coming apart, however once on normal stretches of road everything was okay. As stated, drive a different MH and compare. Something 15 years old is going to have some rough spots in it.
  10. My money at this time would be a quick check of the disconnect solenoid. A bypass of that solenoid should be an easy check to see if the 12v comes back on. In my particular case, tapping on the solenoid caused it to cut in and out.
  11. Rich, It happened to me prior to this trip. We headed to Dallas, then Arkansas and along the way my EMS would beep loudly and I would loose 12 power going down the highway. Eventually it stopped altogether. I called the factory and they suggested it was the auxiliary switch solenoid that cuts the 12v off and on. The solenoid on my coach is behind a panel in my electrical bay. The dealer replaced it and all is as should be now. So yes, hooked up to power or running the generator I had 12v, but as soon as I was on house power only the 12v was non-existent.
  12. I have the same engine in my 2008 Winnebago Destination 39W. It came with the Allison 2500 transmission. I asked Cummins when it was in for service if they could upgrade the cuip to 350 hp. Althoug the 6.7 is capable to be computer upgraded to 350 hp, they told me that the 2500 transmission would not be able to handle th additional torque. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. We are on a trip from near Galveston, accross to the panhandle of Fl, down the coast and back up to Georgia and points North. Except for some time on I-10 we have avoided the Interstate as much as possible. Georgia to Fort Meade, MD was 99.9% on US-17 and other secondary roads, 35-45-55 mph and occasionally 60 mph speed limits. Stop and go traffic is a norm on secondary roads. We are pulling a 2013 Lincoln MKX. I use the built in gauge on the freightliner instrument panel to see what my MPG is. Having compared it to actual calculator methods, the diffference was minimal, about 1/10 mpg of a difference. On this trip it is sitting on 9.4 mpg. My last two trips out were above 9 mpg. One trip out West bucking head winds and hills it was as low as 7.6 mpg. That was the only trip I ever got below 8.6 mpg. I drive with the economy mode turned on with few exceptions, like if I notice the transmission shifting frequetly.
  13. I have that same one in my bay. It does a fine job. Only thing is that I have to lay down on the floor to use it. Knees are bad. When at the S&B, I use a house shampoo machine, I just don't pull the trigger for a log period of time and I just do small strip about 1 to 1-1/2 foot long so the water doesn't get to stand very long. AC on and a good drying time.
  14. Could it be a bad solenoid connected to the auxillary battery switch? It is what went south in my coach recently. Replaced the solenoid and all is well.
  15. I'm not from PA, but you may be very correct in not requiring a CDL. However are there specific class licenses in PA for the weight of the vehicle you are driving. As I have heard, there is.
  16. I'll update my previous post with this. What computer system are you using? If it is a PC then the android phones suggested are a better match. If you are using Apple products, like iMac or MacBookPro, or iPad, then iPhone is a better choice. I have both. I have the Galaxy S-3 and DW has the iPhone 5s. All my computer products are Apple. The wifes iPhone is so much easier to sycn to the Apply products whereas my GS-3 does not sync to my iCal and Contats. It used to with a standalone product but now that is not working. So it depends on some factors you have to take into consideration, When the iPhone 6 comes out I'll get rid of the S-3 and go with the iPhone-6, but if I were using Windows products I would go with the Samsung Galaxy S-5
  17. Sent you PM and email, and left voice message. Dues Camping service manager will be giving you a call. If they can't help they have given me mobile tech numbers in the past. As an aside, my coach of course is completely different, however recently I lost all 12 volt power to the interior accessories. Going down the highway I would hit a bump and loose 12vdc and eventually it stayed off. Called the factory and they said it sounded like the auxillary switch solenoid. Took it to the place I purchased it and they confirmed the solenoid and replaced it. So far so goo - knock on wood.
  18. I basically have the same vehicle but it says Lincoln MKX. I have towed it since July following the instructions in the manual. You can look up the manual on line for the Edge. Basically run it for 5 minutes prior to towing and when stoping for fuel (That's the part that is hard to understand since we all stop for fuel at different times.) Shift into drive, the reverse then neutral. I have the keyless entry and in my case I put it in accessory mode with ac, radio, and I personally turn off the display. According to the manual the system shuts off after 10 minutes so i don't know why they want it in accesories position but I do it. I have never had a problem with the battery not maintaining a charge, and I have never had the odometer increase in miliage. For what it is worth. I also suppose that there could be a vast wiring diffenence between the two vehicles. Here is a link for the 2013 Ford Edge manual. It is exactly the same sequence for recreational towing as the 2013 Lincoln MKX.
  19. Herman, You used your muscle instead of your brain. Had you used your brain you would have gotten DW to do all the hard work. As Clay stated, there are many posts on the other forum on how to do "stuff" I repleced the TV in my 2008 Winni, but the set up is completely different than you set up. Good luck, and post what, how, etc., when it is done.
  20. I use two capfuls of Calgon water Softner. What a difference when dumping.
  21. Have you lubricated the moving parts. I had a problem similar to that and a little lubrication took care of it. Just thinking out loud.
  22. And in my specific case, the main battery disconnect and the auxiliary battery disconnect have to be on in order for the system to charge the batteries using the solar panel or plugged into shore power. This can be verified through the manufacturer of your coach. When I first got the coach I would turn the disconnects off and plug into 110vac. After a few weeks the voltage would be down to 11.8. Now I leave the disconnect switches on and the voltage never drops. The trik-l-charge does its magic.
  23. Bill is correct. You need to find the leak first and the professionals have the equppment to do that. If the gas is still present in the system and pressures are correct, I would suspect the expansion valve.
