The first thing to do is follow the cable down from the slider and see if it is opening the water valve to let hot water flow through the heater core.I am confused about what you mean by "I know the engine temp stays at about 1/4 on the dash gauge." Do you have a infrared thermometer? Also in Texas they have done away with the inspection sticker. You still have to have the inspection (no emissions for diesel just basic safety) before you can get your plates but no sticker on the windshield. Bill

I have heard that the GPS system draws a lot of current. I don't have it and have gone 8+ hours with no problem. I like to start the car and let it run during lunch stops. Don't forget to go through your set up routine before towing again I like to run through the gears just as a precaution. When you are getting ready to tow never go into N from R always from D and pump the brakes after you shut it off to drain the brake booster. I was going to run a charge line but haven't had a problem with the battery going dead. Bill

You might try a straight pipe and see what it sounds like. If it isn't to loud you have a cheap fix. You have the tools. and it isn't an expensive mod to do or change. Like Wolfe10 said if you have a straight through muffler already you might not get much change. I like the muffler he has a link to. First of all, it will give you a chance to check out your new coach and you are still near the dealer. Secondly it is LA. Next head south to San Diego. For a nice location try to get into Fiddler's Cove Marina, 3205 CA-75, San Diego, CA 92155 , (619) 522-8680. There are too many attractions to name but a few. Like Old Town San Diego State Historic, or San Diego Seaport Village. There is in the same area the USS Midway museum really neat with all the planes on the deck. There are some fine restaurants in the Gaslamp Quarter. Did I mention the zoo? Both Wolfe10 and Tbutler have given some great ideas. I would definitely go to Quartzsite. This is an amazing place. Many years ago I was there and noticed a sine on the wall across from the Dairy Queen it said “See the two headed albino raccoon displayed alive” Well that was a good summery of the attitude of Quartzsite. I do like Wolf10’s suggestion to use 90 from Van Horn TX to San Antonio with a side trip to Big Bend Ranch State Park and Big Bend National Park. I have one and run it if it is going to be very cold -0- range otherwise I haven't had a problem. I don't store the sewer hose in the compartment to prevent damage or possible fire danger. Look at my signature-- I have a 38N so I have some relevant experience. I would review my previous post it will get you south fairly rapidly. I don't see the big problem. Just go to your local walk in office and get transponders for all your cars and your motor home. You can get 4 transponders per account. They are serial numbered to the car or motor home. I drove my toad on more toll roads than the motorhome this summer. It might be helpful for you to go re read what I have posted before, slowly . The main thing is to watch the weather reports. I would just sit tight if a big storm is coming in from the west. I don't know how far you drive in a day but I seldom do over 300-400 miles. Springfield IL would be 6.5 hours or about 450 miles. Then to Memphis, TN on 55 Then to Fort Worth. Then just take 20 west. Bill

Roland, There is no reason not to run your furnace in fact run both of them. I would top off the propane tank before you leave. I don't see a problem with filling your fresh water tank with enough water to use on the trip in between camp grounds. I don't travel in colder weather much but I have been caught a couple of times. I was at the top of Raton pass camping early in the spring and had the temperature drop from 65 to 5 over night. I recommend running the block heater overnight when you stop if it is below freezing. I recommend you run the hot water heater all the time and the refrigerator. Not so much to keep things cold but there is a heater on the icemaker solenoid that only works if the refrigerator is on also your wife will appreciate the hot water to wash her hands when you stop. One more tip if you stop some place where it is going to be below freezing over night don't leave your fresh water hose or sewer hose connected overnight. Dump fill and disconnect and put the hoses up. I would fill my fresh water tank before leaving just incase where you stop doesn't have water on. I just have to ask, if you are going to Phoenix why are you going by way of Memphis? Are you stopping to visit someone? Where in Michigan are you leaving from? Bill

I don't know if one state is better. I got my pass in a walk in in New Hampshire. When I got my EZ-Pass they told me to remove the tag in the toad when it was hooked up. When hooked up it is billed as a trailer not a car. They even gave me a shielded envelop to keep the tag in. Your assignment is to find out if one place is better and how much. Bill

Lets go back to what Wolfe10 said "Tell us what price range you are in" If you have deep enough pockets just drive your motor home and have one of your people drive the toater with the stacker. I don't know of that many coaches that have over 10,000 lbs. rated towing capacity. Just because some one wants to do something doesn't always make it safe or practical. Said another way just because some one has done it and got away with it doesn't make it a safe practice. On the other hand I know a guy who will build you what ever you fancy. Bill

Well the big question is where are you located and where are you traveling? The above discussion covered at least 2 different tags. The main one is the EZ-Pass that covers most of the east coast. Florida has their own system. The Texas toll tag is only in Texas. They are working to create a interoperability but so far it hasn't happened. Bill

Tireman9, Thanks for the links to the video. Very interesting to see all the work that goes into inspecting a tier before re treading. The part some still miss is the casings are still less than 7 years old. I would bet most are under 4-5 years old. Over the road trucks put a lot of miles on with heavier loads and wear out the tread much faster than on a coach. I don't think I have ever seen someone changing tires because they were worn out on a coach with 22.5 tiers. OK I have seen some with suspension problems wear the tread off unevenly but that is the only case. Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year Bill

You are right several have posted that their refrigerator was rated at or under 5 amps of 120 VAC. I don't think this should be that big of a load even considering the inefficiencies of the inverter. I think say 6 amps 120VAC will cost you about +/- 66 amps DC. I don't see it as that big of a load on a 160 amp alternator. What do you think? Bill

What is the date code on the tire. That is the important question not how they look. Please go read the thread above this guy might have 10 year old tire and he is being recommended to change them before going any where. Now if you have original tires they would be 15+ years old. You think it is a nice coach right? You can do many,many thousands of dollars damage if a tire blows out if it doesn't result in a crash. What is the date code on the tire. Those must be some industrial grade cell phones. I did some reading on loads on your Leech Neville alternator and I can't find any warnings about loads causing damage. They even have a section on their web site talking about plugging in spot lights and other heavy loads. Yes if you ran near max capacity all the time and in high temperatures I can see it being a problem. I don't see your refrigerator being that big of a load. Don't most draw less than 5 amps? Well it is sad when you spend that much money and don't do your due diligence. Why would you take possession if it had a bunch or problems? Once you sign that paperwork you have lost almost all of your clout. Why would you wait till it was out of warranty to start complaining? It seams the OP who has a total of 2 post continued to travel and use the coach with out getting the items fixed. Then is complaining about the "extender warranty" not being that good. How many times have I said there are to many loopholes in any extended warranty. Bill
