No you have to buy the complete "Vent Hole Remediation Kit" from Camping World For about $250.00 They can do it for you but I think it will cost about 8 hours labor. Yes I think a toothpick will work just be carful not to break it off and have it fall inside the cover. Being an old sheet metal man I might use a small drill bit say around a #40 depending on how big the hole is. Yes sad to hear his wife is having problems. I hope her health improves and they can get back on the road. I sent Carl my contact info by carrier pigeon just before dark. He should stay up and watch for it to come in. Bill

Tell Carl that the Pony express picked it up this morning. I can't believe you are falling down on your maintenance items. Brett, If they weren't expected to loose some oil during normal use they probably wouldn't have the handy sight window. One thing I forgot to mention is on the cap/center plug there is a vent hole. If this vent isn't kept open it can build up pressure in the hub forcing oil past the seals. This can happen even if the seals are in good condition. Bill

Installation Articulating Bed In 2015 Discovery
wildebill308 replied to BOBODELL56's topic in Modifications
One other thing you might look at are stronger gas/spring cartridges to help lift the bed to get to your storage area. Go to Hatch Lift and see what they have or email or call and explain your problem. http://www.hatchlift.com/ Bill -
I don't know where you guys are getting the idea he is talking about adding a turbo? He has a Gas 454 and is talking about the Banks Power Pack system. http://www.bankspower.com/magazines/show/487-Rx-for-Power Bill

I think the Banks up grade would be the best bang for the buck. I always recommend used. Look at PPL for ideas. Bill

Installation Articulating Bed In 2015 Discovery

The only negative I see is will it block access to the engine through the floor? As kaypsmith said they are available in different size. Bill -
You are going to have some loss over time with any system using oil and moving rubber seals. Now I would bet a cold 6 pack that Herman's oil isn't down over .10 from the full line. Now if it keeps going down at a fairly fast rate like every 2000 miles it is time to dig deeper. Bill

Well a lot depends on how long you plan on keeping this coach. The Banks set up will give a good improvement. I would look at a tuner to help with performance. Talk to Banks they may have more ideas. After looking at your engine I noticed it is a computer controlled engine so it is harder to bump the timing back to a more pre smog setting. You could add the Single Shot water methanol injection for a little more power on those difficult hills. See if you can find a used Gear venders overdrive to give you more gears on steep hills. I am sure that others will be along with many ways to spend Your money. Bill

Well at least she asked before and didn't ask for forgiveness after. Bill -
The Banks system will help with power but most don't see a increase in mileage. I have to bug you about your typo I bet your friend saw a big increase when he went from a V10 to a V20. I couldn't resist. Do you do your own work? You could do a couple other tweaks. Bill

wildebill308 replied to jrnjkpalmer@gmail.com's topic in Buying an RV
Welcome to the forum. I am assuming you are having it looked at by someone/inspector who knows what to look for. The biggest question is DOES YOUR WIFE LIKE THE FLOORPLAN That is the only big question. The Ford drive train is a proven system. The V10 is a high revving engine but don't worry about it you can't hurt it. Are you buying from a dealer or individual? I would ask about maintenance records (barging item) If from a dealer I would get them to do all the annual maintenance items so you are ready to go and have a base point. Bill -

With out knowing what coach I am only guessing. If you put your coach info in your signature you will get better answers. See my signature as an example. Bill -
Yes synthetic is compatible with the existing lubricant. How long has it been since it was changed? If you were going to top off with synthetic I would do like Brett suggested and just change it that way you are protected with a better oil. Bill

Atwood Furnance Motor Squealing
wildebill308 replied to greenbarn1's topic in Systems and Appliances
If you can get access try spraying the bearings with a little penetrating oil or any light oil. There is often a small fiber or felt washer on the shaft at the bearing. if you move it away from the bearing and put a paper towel under the shaft to catch drips or overspray while you lube it, (remove when done) it may stop the noise temporarily. If you feel ambitious the motors are probably available on line. Bill -
It would be nice to hear back from the OP to see what the problem was. Bill

I had the Blue Ox led's installed (hard wired) so there would be no possible issue if there was a warranty problem. Bill

Unfortunately We won't be able to make Perry this time. I expect to be back from "The West" in time to be at the 6 state in OK. By the way I stopped in at the new PPL store in Cleburne TX and it is coming a long. They took over a big car dealership on 174 just before it crosses 67. I had to smile as it use to be a car dealership the space is more cut up. They have taken the separate offices where the salesmen use to take you to "Make The Deal" and turned them into "departments" Fresh water, towing, sewage, ect. They have plenty of room and already have some nice coaches to look at. Bill
