Will this allow you to clear code's? Bill

I know what you mean. Someday I might git a BIG coach like Carl's. I will have to keep this little compact coach till then. Bill
-
Carl has the big 45' coach I bought a small coach so I could get into tight places it s only 44' 11" I am glad I did because last year I was in 51 campgrounds in 21 states and never had a time I couldn't fit or find a place to stay.. Bill

Depends on how long you want to take to get there. I almost always (if I am out that way) go to Las Vegas then I would go north on I-15 to I-70 then East to 191 south. This gives you many more things/places to see. Like Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Needles District Canyonlands, there are 3 parts to Canyonlands. When in Moab go to Pasta Jay's. I was at the South rim last Dec. It is always fascinating. I would recommend you start trying to get reservations in Trailer Village RV Park, 100 Trailer Village Rd, Grand Canyon Village, AZ 86023. https://www.visitgrandcanyon.com/trailer-village-rv-park?utm_source=google&utm_medium=yext The reason to stay at the RV park is it saves about a hour drive both ways and the shuttle bus stops at the RV park so you don't need to drive and it takes you to areas you can't drive. When you drive up you can go park in the big parking lots and catch the shuttle or walk over to the closest viewing area. But there is much more to see along the rim. Like Jim S said, https://www.thetrain.com/lodging/rv-park-location/ is a nice back up and that is where we stayed in Dec. Make plans to eat at El Tovar Hotel it is a interesting old place. We had great window seats overlooking the canyon. Bill

That is a good way to straiten the tubing. Something else you can do/try is cut the end going in at a sharp angle 45deg or more. Now when it hits a obstruction (usually where the dipstick tube hits the block) you can twist it and get it to jump over the problem. Take a piece of the tubing with you to Home Depot or most hardware stores to find more. It is about the same as what is used for ice makers. Bill

Welcome to the forum. No it won't. I use Diesel Kleen year around and If temperatures are below 30°F I add Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost (white bottle) for winter operability. It prevents fuel gelling and protects against fuel-filter icing. If you do have a problem and it is already jelling use Use Diesel 9•1•1 to reliquify gelled fuel and de-ice frozen fuel-filters. I try to stay where it is warmer but you can get caught by cold weather. Bill

That is cheap. I was talking to Cummins FW a couple weeks ago and they said it would be 4 hours at $200. per hour to run down a problem for a friend. They said it might be more if they felt they needed to put it on the dyno. Bill

Welcome to the forum. Where are you located? This is a subject that comes up frequently. It is a common thread on all the RV forums. I am not of that school of thought. My last coach was a 38' coach and I never found a place I couldn't find some place to camp. Some times it was outside of a National Park. But I always have a toad with me. Something they arn't saying (those who promote the small coach dialog) just because you show up in a small coach doesn't mean you can get into any of the RV/camp grounded in the park? Most for this year are already reserved with waiting list. I have been told that if I didn't stay in the park I wasn't geting the full "experience". So all the times before I had a RV and drove to places doesn't count? What about all the times you arn't staying in National/state Parks? Smaller RVs have less storage and less living space. I do agree that the older pre DEF and exhaust filters are better. Maybe one day they will get the DEF problems fixed but till then. My coach is a 2008 with a 2007 chassis. I would also look at Fortravel and there are a few older Newell's out there. Look at thease and tell me what you think. https://www.motorhomesoftexas.com/Pre-owned-Inventory-2008-Foretravel-Motorhome-Nimbus-XT-3620-Nimbus-11098235?ref=list https://www.motorhomesoftexas.com/Pre-owned-Inventory-2007-American-Coach-Motorhome-Tradition-40Z-American-Tradition-11400693?ref=list There are a couple more at this dealer. https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/used-rvs-for-sale/diesel-motorhomes?sortBy=price desc Bill

I found that the big mud flap created more turbulence and kicked up more/bigger dirt and gravel onto my CR-V. I had to remove my mud flap (because it got damaged by a big chunk of tire) and the toad is cleaner. Well cleaner is a relative term I have pictures where you can't tell what color the toad was. PatandTerry, Not picking on you but this is a very common subject on all the RV forums. My question is how do you know what chips and damage on your toad happened when towing? I haven't been able to tell. I have had this toad since new and now at 144,000+ miles (not including towed miles) it has some chips and outer dings. There are nun that I can point to and say it happened when towing. What is your current RV? If you put it in your signature it helps get better answers and you don't have to remember to add it to any post you make. See manholt and hermanmullins post as examples. Bill

No, the only way to keep it clean is to keep it in a barn under a cover. I have found no practical method to keep it clean. You should see my toad after some days of travel. Glad most places have car washes. Bill

Thank you Jorge. If you are going to do the oil samples you need to do them and have the results back before you drain the oil. Same with the transmission. That way you can see if you got a good sample or if it is way out of wack you can send in anouther to verify the results. It is cheaper than doing a teardown and inspection. Oil analysis is basically "tread" analysis. Sampling new oil will tell you you have new oil. Sampling after a set period (most don't drive enough to do more than one per year) say 10,000 miles. Did the amount of Iron go up faster or is it significantly higher than last time. Things that can point to a possible failing part before it catastrophically fails. Bill

AQUAHOT AVERAGE DIESEL USAGE EXPERIMENT
wildebill308 replied to eric@babin.com's topic in Systems and Appliances
Pretty shure if you let it run till it shuts off it will be at the max temp as described so you can check thee fluid. Or you could probably get buy making shure it was above the "cold" line on the expansion tank. Bill -
Back in 2016 I did a comparison between the 2 most commonly used labs. I pulled 2 samples on the engine and 2 from the transmission and sent them in. https://community.fmca.com/topic/9212-which-oil-lab-jg-or-blackstone/ The reports came back close enough that I would use either lab and have confidence in the results. The big difference is JG makes you pay for the sample when you order the sample kit. Blackstone will send you kits free and you pay when you send in a sample and they run it. Navigator, I would order the pump from JG as it is a little cheaper and order some sample kits from Blackstone. I am now using Blackstone Five, Here is a better way. Rather than using the whole hose, use the dipstick as a guide on how long the hose needs to be. Remember you want to take the sample from the center of the oil. You never want to run the hose in and have it hit the bottom of the pan. This can give you an contaminated/erroneous sample. second thing, the plastic tubing is a one use item. Never use the same tubing to do the engine and transmission you will get false readings. Don't use the tubing the next time you pull a engine sample as it may contaminate the results. You can get tubing at most hardware stores. Just so you know in a former life I did run a oil analysis lab and have had some formal schooling/training on this. Any questions just ask. Bill

Well it has finally warmed up enough to clear the roads. Most of the snow has melted. Bill -
That would be a good enough reason for me. When you want to learn the correct way to pull a sample let me know. I can teach you. Just so you know catching a sample when you are draining your oil is not the best way to get an accurate sample. Bill

Best campgrounds around Tucson

Welcome to the forum. Like Herman said if your rig is in good shape you should be fine. My little camper is 14 and haven't had a problem. Bill -
Welcome to the forum. You might not hear from RichNjohn as that post was from 2018. Bill

Find out what the torque is for the bolts on the filter covers. I don't remember/ it may be different on your 3060. But what I do remember was it was a extremely hi number for going into a aluminum casting. You must use a good torque wrench or you can strip the the threads. Bill
