BUILDING RV PAD / TEXAS HILL COUNTRY
manholt replied to eric@babin.com's topic in General Discussion
That's what we call it here...maybe a local quarry where your at would know. It's light rust color, that turns light gray over time. I'm thinking it has lime/clay in it and the gravel is different sized...we use medium, for better traction. -
BUILDING RV PAD / TEXAS HILL COUNTRY

Eric, looks good now on paper and would like a picture of the completion. Hope you know that caliche when dry is ok, but when wet it's a nightmare! See if you can get Dirty D (that's what we call it in Burnet County) to place on top of caliche...a 9 yard truck, delivered and spread is $385 here...it sets up like cement and does not go gooey when it rains. We use it here at ranch for our roads, parking lots, 2 RV pads! -
Jim S. Ref Diana, Ditto that.

Other than Remco or removing drive shaft, flat bed trailer & maybe a dolly, there is no other alternative!

We did not have our phones with us. At the Market this morning, there was a (I think new) King Air with paper tag and it had 3 axles and 6 tires! The 2 in back looked to be 10"-12" wide and the front looked normal width!

Got it. Not I. In Winter, one time...rest of year, every 2 to 3 months or 300+/- hours!

Rich, the 2 of you live less than 400 miles apart.

Bill, who?

Kind of like the Ion-Lith batteries that are now available in some High End coaches and a lot of "green cars". Horrible for the environment and echo system....Oh well. Riding a bomb!

Since your campground of choice is Wall Mart, you might as well buy what you need there...I would say, they frown on you, if you change your oil there! Cummins, Freightliner, MAC Mustang, DD center will do it for you...don't bring your WM stuff with you!

Rich, interesting question. Joe L., should be able to answer that.

Most ferry's require that you shut off the propane & engine, while in motion on the water. Distance has nothing to do with it. USA, can't speak for Canada!

Eric. I asked this morning, dropped my coach off, Dave Miller & Mike remember you!

Any tips for traveling route 66 from Iowa?
manholt replied to watson's question in Destinations/Attractions
Watson. When were you last in WLA? Taking a coach in, is not an option, unless your willing to spend thousand's on special permits! The only RV park around, was outside Malibu and it burned last month! You are allowed on I-405, not Sepulveda or other roads...don't ask how I know!- 13 replies

If I read this correct, bb is on constant bulk when generator is on. Even "new" batteries can have one battery with a dead cell, then the charger will over compensate by trying to maintain a constant charge. Remove the bad battery and replace with a good one and you will have Bulk, charge and float. As Brett, Kay, Rich and others have said, since you where in NC Fairgrounds...Have you had each battery load tested? If not, why? I got 2 chassis and 8 house batteries in Sep. 2016, each was load tested, before it went in coach! It's peace of mind. Took about 2 minutes to re-program from Acid to AGM.

Had the same problem & shop had to replace the unit...took 6 weeks. The manufacturer, does not stock them, they make a new one as needed. Some, not mine, come with a plastic cover. The camera is mounted, in mine, by 2 hex nuts. As far as I'm concerned, they are a distraction, because you can't see the vehicle you are passing, in your rear view camera until it re sets it's self...lag time!

Joe S. Glad to hear, they can fix the vehicle & it's covered. Most cases I read about, DEF vs Engine=Toast. New engine, etc.! -
Jamie414. Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your, "new to you" coach! Lap belts had a nasty habit of killing you in a accident. Not saying that 3 point won't, but it does add a cushion of safety, by spreading out the force! If your concerned about your SAFETY, then don't be concerned about the COST...your call. Gillie chassis, great ride. Happy Trails!

I had a Colorado 4 x 4, attached to a coach and hit a nasty RR crossing in West Texas...Broke the tow bar and bent the hitch. USAA paid $750, I have $500 deductible! Have used USAA on various autos, homes, MC & Motor Homes (they stopped doing coach/mc's in 2004), from 1964 to present. Perhaps covering hitches have changed, my coach and toad, including tow bar, etc is now with State Farm (2 yrs.)!

Front Slideout Inoperative: 2008 Winnebago Adventurer
manholt replied to FunGlamping08's topic in Slideouts
Could be low fluid, leak, have you looked for a leak in front slide or around cylinder? If its hard to get to, then pull rear slide in. My HWH in a 2007 Tour, had the computer board, mounted under the front step...it will indicate by a blinking light, where the problem is! -
bb. At 60, then 13.7 is correct on Acid and 13.4 on AGM...as Brett mentioned. if you use the AGM setting, it will FLOAT at a lower rate and give your Acid a longer life! You still have to check water level each month. Rich, agree. I would spring for the peace of mind and options! It could have saved a lot of time & worry with Hurricane Florence breathing down his neck!

Mine is a Splendid Stack ans we use Tide, 1 Tsp. for 11 pounds. When drying, we never use Bounce, it has wax in it and will clog the screen.

Generally, I would agree with you. Until I hear differently, my belief is still with the ex LEO!
