Roof Top Satellite Dish Replacement
manholt replied to ripnfix's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
The massive back up, would not have happened at all, if the Mayor of Houston (Bill White?) had not panicked! I was getting on the La Port bridge, when the evacuation order was given. In Gladewater, we where on generator power for 6 hours at the ranch, I was parked in a metal barn with 3 LQ/horse trailers and a tree that had blown clean thru the rafters...not a scratch on any RV! Thank God I was in the house. What I learned from that. Leave town, when they say, "it may hit the upper coast"! I did for Ike. Watched it for 4 days, it also came to the ranch! If it is a next time, I will go WEST to Schulenburg and play golf in the sun, like the rest of my friends did! Carl -
I would suggest you go to a Feed Store, or talk to a Ranch and Farm Agent. Second thought. Put a cat on a long lead!

Roof Top Satellite Dish Replacement

LOL, hope you was not one of the stuck RV's on I-45N...Rita. I still have the T-Shirt " I survived Rita exodus". I was in another coach and hauling a trailer, cut off on 518, just before it was closed, and took 146N all the way to Livingston! Then to Gladewater, TX. Unfortunately Rita followed me! I should have kept DirecTV, but now have a Dish crank up that I can't use. Another thing that need to be changed! I personally like motorized crank up. Have had all the others. Carl -
Tireman. You mentioned deeper tread=lower mpg. That explains what I have tried to figure out for a year now. I had all 8 tires replaced in Oregon after Redmond rally last year. I was running XRV's to Redmond and got the new XZE's. My mpg was 7.2 and now it's 6.5. I blamed it on the mountains, but had the same on the coast. BUBBA! I agree with you! I like peace off mind and there are so many other things going on that I don't need to loose a quarter of the coach on a tire going out! I have seen and experienced $20K+ of fiberglass damage. Also in OR last year saw a headless woman, due to a tread separation! Brett. I'm surprised that you, who advocates replacing tires at 5-7 years, are unsure if you will change them after 7 years!??? Bill, sorry, I said switch...meant lever. Your right, 15 min. is not bad. Carl

I'll put it in simple words. 102" + all safety devices, that includes side mirrors! Awnings, don't stick out as far as mirrors, unless you have European mirrors and those rigs have the awning on roof! Bill. I agree and have done the Smokey PR in a 1973 Landau 26' and 96" W. My wife was driving and I was on my knees praying! I do remember consuming a lot of Scotch for an early HH! Carl

I would give my atty something to do...like send a letter to the owner of the park for re-imbursement off the cost to fix coach! They have liability insurance and if they are silly enough not to have insurance, they are still libel. You can't go back, so you might as well get some satisfaction! Carl

Hi, all. My Cummins owners manual, under coolant recommendations and specs, page V-21, tells me what to use and why. Fleetguard. My system is full, my sensor or sending wire is faulty. Called and spoke with AMC 6 weeks ago on an unrelated issue, they are (per phone, this am) expecting me, on the under 3 hour program. Tiffin has the same system in Red Bay. 2, 3, days after arrival and I'm in. AMC techs was not at Madison. After my sensor problem is taken care of, then I'll have my whole system flushed and thermostats along with cap changed! They'll steam clean me also. I'm the second owner and have no records off what was done from 10' to 13'! Thank you all for your input. Carl

There are several roads east off the Mississippi, specially in Virginia and NC that makes the "million dollar hwy" in CO. a pussycat! 15 to 25 mph works for me! I'll be on 3 of them the 17th of Sep.

Legal width for State Hwys. as per the revised law of 1976 is 102", excluding does items needed for safety! There are States that has legal limits of less than 102" away from the State Highway and most of them (with the exception of CA & AZ) are east off the Mississippi! I would never attempt the PRs in the Great Smokey's, anymore than "The tail off the Dragon", pure insanity! Carl

Rich. I would be surprised if he had LEDs. My 2011 Allegro Bus did not, and I had on/off shorting out problems with running lights. In Red Bay, I found out that, yes, the caulking was good, just the wrong kind & letting water in! Carl

Joe. Welcome to the Forum! 2 things come to mind. Your coach is a 2011. What year is your chassis? Also, your DOT number on the side off each tire, gives the month and year of manufacturing! Check the side wall off your drive and tag tires. Any cracks? Hairline fractures? If there is, then you need new ones. Don't go by wear (as you would in a car), go by age. I suspect yours are 6 + years old and you should change them every 6 or 7 years! Big DP's are not cheap to maintain! Stay safe. Carl

Ford Cmax Energi Tire Shake After Turn
manholt replied to Gmac's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
I would change the tires, then do as Brett said. Another Ford dealership or garage? When I buy a new car from a dealer, that's the last time they see me! Warranty work I can get done anywhere, same with recalls. Not all "name brand" dealerships are the same! Good mechanics go where they offer the biggest bang. As a footnote: Don't ever give a dealer your E-Mail info!!! -
John, welcome and thanks for your input. Your idea, will probably help someone with a 90's Monaco! Mine, is a 2010 on a different chassis and manufacturer. I'll let American Coach take care of it next week, unless they will fit me in Friday or Sat. Carl

Ray. If you have never seen it, then a tree broken in half is impressive. After "Rita", there was miles of the same, whole forest broken of about 20 foot from the ground! Same with "Ike" in 08'. You never hear about that, just "Kathrina" in poor New Orleans, LA. I have an 18 KW Onan, runs on propane, at the house! For 3 weeks there was no power, after "Ike", on Galveston Island. When they cut off natural gas, after the electric went out, my gen. was humming along. You might want to install one yourself, for peace of mind, when you and your coach is NOT there! Keep sawing, I heard it builds muscles you never knew, you had.... Carl

OK. For the first 4 hours this morning it was a quiet ride at 63 mph. Coolant temp 199 - 203, then on east side off Santa Rosa, NM. temp was 198 and everything came on again! I'm now in Amarillo, Texas and just got off the phone with Cummins. They think it's the sensor or the sending wire, yeh! Kicker is that they can't help me, it's a coach manufacturer problem, %$#&%! So I have to go true this c...p all the way to Decatur, Indiana! Herman, it was 56 in Grant this morning! Now tomorrow, probably not... Thanks again for all the input! Carl

Heading out on the I-40 Hwy. Will post again this evening! Carl

I think it has to do with the width of your drive tires and box. If you do not overhang the yellow and white line, your legal. When the industry went from 96" to 102"W. They knew it would be legal in all states! There are some rural roads, I would not take anything wider that a Jeep! LOL

Would help to know the size of his generator....if it's a 6KW, then it's reading correctly!
-
Hi Brett. Level is fine, I think, it's above the visual bubble. I have Silverleaf, but no codes. Also, got no code feedback on the dash (Cummins Center). When Coolant temp showed 198 - 201 nothing showed up, but at 181 - 196 the warning and check engine came on (I push a button) and the warning goes off for 5 - 10 minutes. Carl
-
45 foot, I'm well within Spartan tolerance! Your 40', I have a tag!
-
Left Cortez, CO. this morning. Engine light and Low Coolant came on/off all day. CC at 62, coolant temp 181 in morning, 198 afternoon, oil temp 196-199, trans. temp 200, all my parameters are good. Any thoughts? Carl

Nice ride! Congratulation! It's not the destination....it's how you get there! Carl

I like level. I think it will work fine at about 10 degrees up or down.
