Adapting New/modified Rims & Tires To 1973 Revcon 23' Motorhome
manholt replied to bragan33's topic in Modifications
bragan, Welcome. Did you check out the link that Brett gave you? If not, then please do so, they can answer your questions far better than we can! I can barely remember the Revcon and have had Class A's for 40+ years! Bill may remember the size of rims and tires in the 70's, I don't! Carl -
LOL. After all that, I will do as I always have and that is to bite the bullet every 5-6 years...replace them all! I do understand that my way, is not for everyone and the rolling change makes a lot of sense. Carl

Can you lift the rubber and use a flashlight to see any obstruction? Carl

Herman. I have rollers. What I had was metal shavings and each time the slide came in/out the roller slide not rolled, until someone on Forum told me to use a magnet. That was in March. Had slide inspected for any metal that did not belong....It was a rivet head, from where??? Gremlins.

Picture and name. LOL Carl

Good morning & welcome to Forum! Every RV that has AC, has some form of filter. You should have that information in your owner manual or a separate flyer from the AC manufacturer. If not, then call Winnebago with your VIN # and year of coach. If you have 1 or 2 units and they are visible in coach, then you just lower the bottom and take out a thin sponge like filter, about 14x14x1/4 inches, wash, dry and replace in unit. If you system is plumbed into celling, then you should have several lowered covers on each side off celling, one side will blow air and the other side will be the filters. If I remember, each will be a snap in and has the same filter as above. Good luck Carl

Bill. I do agree with your assessment! It was an interesting post, in the beginning but now, we have run that dog to the ground!

Would be a lot uglier thru the window! Also let bugs in... Carl

Roger. Here I thought I had everything tire, nailed down, and then instead of 5 to 7 years between tire change, your advocating 7 or 8 years in your blog. Also, yesterday, you said that a rolling change should happen at 7 years! I understand the concept behind a rolling change. Confused about the 7 or 8 years, before you start. I for one would not trust my front tires for that length of time! Carl

Barkley, your not alone! I have one over the sink and I only put the cover back on when in Park...driving, it comes off! At the house, they are fine. All off mine are 120ac. J & Tom. Be very carful with LED, make sure they don't have a clear cover (like a flashlight), or no cover (like a upside down scone. They will burn your retina, if you accidentally look at them enough times. Even one time and you will see dots for a long time. Especially harmful to children! 90% of my lights are LED & have an opaque cover! Some medium to high end coaches have LED for high beam headlights...I pity the person coming at them! Carl

Roy. If Bill is home. The weather is very HOT. I'm in Oklahoma City and it's like an oven! If you go North, you will start running into cool/cold weather. I would go with "Buggy" or Jeep, just depends on what you and your wife like to do! Carl

Agree...I think we have covered all the above! OR is in accordance with the Federal 1976 change in width from 96" to 102"!

I just looked up the 2010 Catalogue and specs on my coach... My GVWR is 46,600. Carl

Congratulations on your Eagle...nice coach! Happy Labor Day Weekend. Carl

Ray. That's what I did. But I first took a magnet under the lip...got metal shavings, then cleaned area. Took three tries, now I don't have marks anymore! Carl

Roof Top Satellite Dish Replacement
manholt replied to ripnfix's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
The massive back up, would not have happened at all, if the Mayor of Houston (Bill White?) had not panicked! I was getting on the La Port bridge, when the evacuation order was given. In Gladewater, we where on generator power for 6 hours at the ranch, I was parked in a metal barn with 3 LQ/horse trailers and a tree that had blown clean thru the rafters...not a scratch on any RV! Thank God I was in the house. What I learned from that. Leave town, when they say, "it may hit the upper coast"! I did for Ike. Watched it for 4 days, it also came to the ranch! If it is a next time, I will go WEST to Schulenburg and play golf in the sun, like the rest of my friends did! Carl -
I would suggest you go to a Feed Store, or talk to a Ranch and Farm Agent. Second thought. Put a cat on a long lead!

Tom. No! Congratulation & Thank you for your service!

Roof Top Satellite Dish Replacement

LOL, hope you was not one of the stuck RV's on I-45N...Rita. I still have the T-Shirt " I survived Rita exodus". I was in another coach and hauling a trailer, cut off on 518, just before it was closed, and took 146N all the way to Livingston! Then to Gladewater, TX. Unfortunately Rita followed me! I should have kept DirecTV, but now have a Dish crank up that I can't use. Another thing that need to be changed! I personally like motorized crank up. Have had all the others. Carl -
Tireman. You mentioned deeper tread=lower mpg. That explains what I have tried to figure out for a year now. I had all 8 tires replaced in Oregon after Redmond rally last year. I was running XRV's to Redmond and got the new XZE's. My mpg was 7.2 and now it's 6.5. I blamed it on the mountains, but had the same on the coast. BUBBA! I agree with you! I like peace off mind and there are so many other things going on that I don't need to loose a quarter of the coach on a tire going out! I have seen and experienced $20K+ of fiberglass damage. Also in OR last year saw a headless woman, due to a tread separation! Brett. I'm surprised that you, who advocates replacing tires at 5-7 years, are unsure if you will change them after 7 years!??? Carl

Bill, sorry, I said switch...meant lever. Your right, 15 min. is not bad. Carl

I'll put it in simple words. 102" + all safety devices, that includes side mirrors! Awnings, don't stick out as far as mirrors, unless you have European mirrors and those rigs have the awning on roof! Bill. I agree and have done the Smokey PR in a 1973 Landau 26' and 96" W. My wife was driving and I was on my knees praying! I do remember consuming a lot of Scotch for an early HH! Carl

I would give my atty something to do...like send a letter to the owner of the park for re-imbursement off the cost to fix coach! They have liability insurance and if they are silly enough not to have insurance, they are still libel. You can't go back, so you might as well get some satisfaction! Carl

Hi, all. My Cummins owners manual, under coolant recommendations and specs, page V-21, tells me what to use and why. Fleetguard. My system is full, my sensor or sending wire is faulty. Called and spoke with AMC 6 weeks ago on an unrelated issue, they are (per phone, this am) expecting me, on the under 3 hour program. Tiffin has the same system in Red Bay. 2, 3, days after arrival and I'm in. AMC techs was not at Madison. After my sensor problem is taken care of, then I'll have my whole system flushed and thermostats along with cap changed! They'll steam clean me also. I'm the second owner and have no records off what was done from 10' to 13'! Thank you all for your input. Carl

There are several roads east off the Mississippi, specially in Virginia and NC that makes the "million dollar hwy" in CO. a pussycat! 15 to 25 mph works for me! I'll be on 3 of them the 17th of Sep.
