  1. We will be going to the Winter Convention in Perry, GA this March. Should be at least a three to four week trip for us. Our normal route is, Shreveport, LA, then Meridian, MS., Ft. Benning, GA/AL and then into Perry for 12 days. Like Carl we don't travel more than 250 to 300 miles a day and do sometime stay more than one night somewhere. When in Ft. Benning we will stay at least three days maybe more. Wonderful Military Fam Camp and only $20.00 per day. Haven't set our return yet. Who knows we may go see the Jets in Pensacola. Love to see some of you'll along the way. Herman
  2. I too got a quote from USAA. They were very competitive on the auto coverage but were way out on the RV. Combining the coverage put them way over our current carrier, Texas Farm Bureau. TFB has both our vehicle and home coverage therefore making them very competitive. Herman
  3. Joe, My original drag link had one fixed tie rod end and one adjustable. The replacement one has adjustable ones on both ends (aka right and left hand threads) and can be adjusted with ease. I don't do my own PM service. Have had the same shop doing it for years. What I found was that one zerk fitting was in a bad location and to grease it the wheel needed to be turned to expose the fitting. That was never done and resulted in it going dry. The replacement drag link was purchased from Inland Truck Parts ($1,500.00). I replaced it myself. I showed the drag link to the shop when I did the change. Todd the service manager took on look at the dry end and said that it was uncalled for and would instruct his techs. He offered to do my next two services for free which came to a bit over $750.00. What I need to do is crawl under and make the needed adjustments to center the Steering Wheel. It is pretty close and just needs a bit of tweaking. If I remember correctly most steering boxes have a very slight indent, for lack of a better word. I just need to get the wheels straight and the wheel at 12 o'clock. I will be doing that in the next day or two. Herman
  4. Joe, if I remember Intercourse is right next to Paradise and Blue Balls. Worked for a company in Hanover, PA, Chemetron. Herman
  5. Replaced the drag link and just need to tweak it a bit to center the wheel. Still has a sligh pull to the left.
  6. DD, Assuming you have removed the screws have you tried using one of the tool they use on auto windshields. I don't know what try call it but it is a handle with a hook to go through the adhesive between the body and glass. It has gable with a "Tee" attached to allow you to pull the hook to separate the adhesive. You might give Lee at RvFog Dr. He can give you a hint. Herman
  7. I know the place. When you go there in your pickup all you see are Mercedes and Newells. Very high dollar place. But thanks any way. Herman
  8. Had Hartford at one time and had only one issue. Hartford, like so many other companies starts you with a great low rate and after that start raising your rates. My advise is to shop each year when you receive your renewal notice. It may not help but it sure can't hurt. Herman
  9. Carl, It is National Indoor Storage and they are in Lewisville Texas on Business Hwy 121. Don't do Roadmaster chassis as of the last time I spoke with them. Am not familiar Legacy Coach, assume they are in the Fort Worth area. Bill, Premier Truck Service in Howe Texas is a Freightliner Shop. Used to be Diamond Truck Center and they did my PM service but is now a Freightliner shop. Been there once but never again. Had then do the PM on my coach, they doubled the price of all the filters and went up $150.00 on the labor. Gentlemen, thanks for your thoughts. I will call Legacy and check them out. Thanks again, Herman
  10. I have the specifications for my coach. My problem is finding a otr shop that will align a Roadmaster chassis with or without a tag. Looking in the DFW area of Texas. Know anyone?? Herman
  11. Welcome to FMCA and the Forum. You have a nice looking coach. By joining FMCA you have just expanded you family by 73,000 relatives. (You don't have to send them all Christmas Cards ) By the looks of the pictures you must live in the South West. Check out the Western Area for Chapters and go to a Rally or two. They are great fun and great ways to meet fellow RVers. Herman
  12. Brett, Since most of the current RVs have electronic Speedometers, can they be re-calibrated like a car or truck when changing tire sizes? Herman
  13. Stoloff, Thank you for your valuable insight and knowledge. You have shown each of us things we would have never thought of, Again Thanks, Herman
  14. George, Am sorry for you experience. I have a few questions. Who got the Towing Service for you? Was it through a Road Service company you have? Is their, the towing company's going to cover the Damages? With what you have said my biggest fear would be "Did they remove the Drive Shaft before towing"? If not there could be your biggest issue and most expensive. Your best bet would be to turn it into your insurance company and to the towing company's insurance. either or both will want it taken to a shop. The shop will be able to give you and the companies a rough estimate and the companies will sent out an adjuster to consult with the shop. Document each call and name of who you spoke with. Herman
  15. Benny, The valve in the water system serves two purposes. One, to fill your Water tank and two, to allow you to use Camp Ground water rather than from your tank. My procedure is to one connect my gauge to the camp facet to check the pressure. If below 50 psi I hook my hose directly to the facet. if over I will use my reducer. With the hose attached I will turn on the water and allow any unwanted items from the camp water line and my hose to escape. I will then connect my hose to my inlet. (I have a shut on the end of my hose) turn off my pump and then turn on the camp water. at this point you are using the camp ground water and not your tank. However if you forget to turn off your pump, it is not the end of the world. You will just be using both the water from your tank and the camp ground. Sometime you may not even be aware that the pump is on until you have air bubbles at the facet, then you hear yourself say or think, "oops" . When you want to fill your water tank you just move the selector valve to "Fill" or what ever position yours says. When you do this you will hear the water moving to fill the tank. When traveling 1/2 a tank full should be more than enough. However if you know you will be Boon-docking, then Having a full tank when reaching your destination would be best. When unhooking from the camp ground water I always turn off the camp grounds water open and then close the valve to release the pressure. Some folks always use a "Y" connection and, after turning off the CG water open the unused side to release the pressure. These are just my ways of doing water. After awhile you will have your own procedures that will work best for you. When traveling in a Motor Home, the old phrase really goes here "LIVE and LEARN". Good luck and I hope to see you down the road. Herman
  16. Yes, towed an 03 Yukon 4X4 with no problems. Traded it for an 08 Silverado 2X4 with a disconnect, then an 08 Silverado 4X4 and now an 11 Silverado 4X4. All with no issues. ❤ Chevrolet Silverado. Herman
  17. Do we need to let the others guess what, other than a horse, a Mustang is?☺ Herman
  18. James, Like so many power supplies your uses 110 vac to provide the correct dc volt for your CPAC. If you have a concern you can always add two more batteries (space permitting) and a dedicated inverter just for your CPAC. Herman
  19. Brett, Please close this. There is no call for arguments or name calling. Herman
  20. Roland, It is always reasonable to travel to TEXAS. Our border checks are not too bad, even for folks from Michigan. 😁😅🙄 Herman
  21. Keon, Like your new family picture. Hope to see you and your family at on of the Rallies. For the kids, think of Gillette. Great place for a rally, close to Mt Rushmore, Devils Tower, Yellowstone, Jackson and the Tetons. David and Loretta have lots on tap for the kids. I forgot Cody, WY and the Western Museum, a once in a lifetime place to visit. Herman
  22. On the Carefree Omaha there is only one spring. It connects to the right arm. The spring has a piece on the end that fits the groves on the inside of the tube. On the outer end is a tube with a slot that fits over the arm. It has a slot in the spring end where the arm has a pin to slide into the slot. When I replaced mine carefree told me 21 turns. That is why I suggested call the factory for the correct number for your awning. Herman
  23. Walter, Check with some RV Salvage yards. You may find what you need at one of them. I know that Colaws in Carthage, MO. has Allison transmissions from wrecked or burned coaches. Herman
