  1. My service company told me this information when my coach would not start. I told him that I must have a bad switch because I could never get the added boost when I tried it. He told me to hold down the switch for several seconds before I tried to start the coach. Wala, engine cranked right off. So for me the benefit was that now know how to use the switch. As you said never too old to learn. Have a good one. Herman
  2. Ron, Welcome to the Forum. When using the Battery Boost switch hold it down for about 10 to 15 seconds before trying to start either engine. Herman
  3. mpierce, You are correct that turning with the tag axle down won't cause flat spots. However it will help when making really short turn by just eliminating the drag of the tag wheels. But again you are correct the you should lower the tag once you have completed your turn. My Dynasty has an alarm that sounds when in drive. The problem is the alarm is at the exact pitch that I can't hear. But be assured the DW will let me know to lower the tag. Herman
  4. jbenitti, Welcome to the forum. Do you have a power step cover? If so you may have the air cylinder rattling. Mine did until I got it raised up. Herman
  5. leadpipe58, Welcome to the Forum. Your Generator (4.0 kw) is a splash lube unit. If your unit will turn over but not start, you may be low on oil. There is a low oil sensor which will not allow the unit to start. So check your oil. Also how is the fuel level in the coaches tank. When the fuel tanks is below 1/4 the generator pickup tube will be above the fuel level. Do you have 12 v to the coil? When all else fails take hold of the coil wire and have the DW try to start to unit. If the coil is good, it wont take long to find out. Side note, the unit will run even if the ring is black and the brushes are worn. Herman
  6. Bardani, Welcome to the Forum. One of the first things to remember about driving a diesel pusher is to remember the location of the front wheels. In a car they are in front of you, in gas coach your wheels are almost right under you and with a D/P they are just behind you. So remember this when turning. Also on any motor home remember the swing of the rear end. With your experience with your gas coach you should have no problem. One thing I always say in maneuvering a Motor home "Slow and East". Good Luck, Herman
  7. LSBQ, Contact Power Gear. They may or may not sell to the public. However I would start with them. Herman
  8. Beeps, If you are close to Arkansas you might visit: RV Fog Dr. 2210 Dodge Ave Searcy, AR 72143 501-278-4527 www.rvfogdr.com I understand there is also a very good shop somewhere in Florida. Some one may have their information. Windows seals have failed for different reasons. One is because people, without knowing, will put up the reflective foil to block the sun. This will cause the heat from the sun to intensify and over heat the air between the two sheets of glass to expand and pop the seal. Reflective tint put on the inside will do the same thing. Herman
  9. ce, have you tried Lowes or Home Depot? I know that they have carried sheet laminate in the past. Herman
  10. SuperNewb, First welcome to the Forum and to Rving. Also thank you for being a good Dad and providing life long memories for your son. You might start by googling Thor Daybreak. There may be a site where other owners have some of your same question and what answers they received. Most all of us have learned about our coaches from the University of Hard Knots. However here on the Forum we all will share our experiences. You have a lot of question, so might I suggest that you start with one question at a time. A post asking about the inverter, another about the bed and so forth. Specific questions will get you answers where bulk questions might get over looked. Good Luck, Herman
  11. I just insured our coach, a 2002 40 ft. Monaco Dynasty with Safeco for $613.60 for one year. Much better then the policy we had before. Herman
  12. Rich, I agree but I can always find Interstate but don't remember too may Exide. They are probably out there I just don't remember seeing them. Herman
  13. What batteries to buy? I have always gone with Interstate. Are they the best, maybe not. However for service you can't beat their response to a problem. On top of that you can't swing a long stick without hitting an Interstate store. (I know it's not a long stick but the correct old saying would not be appropriate for the site). Herman
  14. The RV Park at Ft. Benning is really nice. At present time there is some upgrades being done but still a nice park. Herman
  15. Wally World might now be so bad. They may have a Big Sale on ice cream. Or not. Herman
  16. Sorry Jim, that is where I get my information. I trust it more then Trailer Life or Good Sam's ratings. Hope you find a place in time to make your connections. Herman
  17. Jim, Check www.rvparkreviews.com you may find what you need there. Herman
  18. Tubby65, Try www.rvparkreviews.com You can go to any state and city to see reviews on RV Parks. Some reviews are very current and some are several years old. We have found several parks there when we are planning our trips. Good luck and welcome to the forum. Herman
  19. I did just what Bill said. I took the old cathode TV out(picked up mileage due to the weight reduction). Shortened my cabinet by seven inches and installed a 32" Vizeo in place of the 27". Took me the better part of 2 days. Not bad for my age. To this day I do not know how I got the old unit out and down. Herman
  20. We have carried a Baby "Q" for years. Works on butane throw away cans and we also have a hose to connect to refillable bottles. Haven't tried it on coach butane. Herman
  21. QuiGonJohn, What I described in going to metal mart was for a surface to distribute heat and not for cooking on. A surface to cook on needs to have an edge around it to keep grease and so forth from running over and down into your stove. What you want needs to be a cast iron griddle that can cover two burners and give you a flat surface to cook on. What commercial kitchens and dinners have is referred to as a "Flat Top". Herman
  22. Let me clarify my last post. The Aluminum or Brass plate I mentioned were just for dissipating the heat for more even heat for cooking in the proper utensils and not to cook directly on. Herman
  23. Aw Norcold. We have a Recall to cure a problem. "If your refrigerator is within these serial numbers turn off the unit and do not use it until it has been checked out by a technician." Now then there was the recall to fix the recall, that had many more problems then before it the first recall. Man you gotta love Norcold. One of the things I have been told was that the units built before the ones in the recall had a much better material in the coils. Then in a cost saving step Norcold went to a thinner tubing and the troubles began. Someone needs to step up and admit there was a mistake and replace the bad material not just add a "smoke detector". Sorry for the rambling. Herman
  24. Lyle, How old is your unit. You may have a bad heating element. I just had the same problem and when we replaced the element we go HOT water. Herman
  25. Go to a place like Metal Mart. Ask for a piece 1/4" brass or aluminum. Both will distribute the heat very well. However leave space so you can see the flame and can have good air circulation. Herman
