2005 Alfa Founder where is the B.I.R.D isolator located in the RV
hermanmullins replied to elmer49's topic in Electrical
Elmer, Welcome to the Forum. Just for the sake of others, please tell what you are referring to when you say B.I.R.D. (me too) Herman -
The reason prices are some times lower than the FMCA program is buying power. We get the price that the average dealer charges less the FMCA discount. Some dealers purchase in such large volume that they have very strong discounts and dealer incentives. Hince they may be able to sell for less. I have seen it where a dealer says, I can beat that price while others say "can you by me some at that price because it is lower then I pay." So as someone said, "Always Shop Before You Buy". Herman

Scott, Sound to like you have a Rubber Connection on your Height Valve in the front has broken. It is call the "Ride Height Adjuster". The adjuster has a rubber grommet on both ends connected by a 1/4" metal rod. It is to connect the coach chassis to the adjuster. As I said what you described sound to me like either one of the rubber grommets broke or you have a bad valve. Hopefully it is just a broken grommets (a visual look can see if it is broke) which can be bought at mast large truck repair shops. If it is the valve they also can be bought but you would need some numbers. As always when working under a coach be sure to block and support the coach. Its hard to dial 911 with 40 to 50 thousand pound resting on your chest. Herman

Most of the time it is in a cabinet close to the main TV. Some look like this. Herman

Harold, Welcome to the Forum. Go to colawrvsalvage.com click on salvage RVs and type in Beaver. They have literally a thousand wrecked motorhomes. you may find what you are looking for there Sorry for the accident, what does your insurance company have to say about it? It should be covered by your comprehensive insurance. Herman

weilergp, Welcome to the Forum. Is you cable going through your Satellite receiver or directly to the TV? The "INPUT" on your TV should have several options where you can select HMDI 1, HDMI 2, and a setting for TV . Maybe even have a selection for Cable. Check there and see what the input is set on. Hope this helps, Herman

Yes, and then you have a real mess since most everyone dump the Waste before the Gray. Joe mention that he has Sewer Weights for his hose. That is a good idea. I don't have a them but probably should get a set. Herman

Richard, is there any may to move your seat over a bit and not interfere with the steering? Herman

When traveling we generally stop at an RV park every other day. I will dump on the morning we leave. When we are parked for more then 2 days I will leave my gray water valve open. On the day before we are to leave I will close the gray to build up water to help flush out the hose after draining my waste tank. This may not work for others but it does for us. Herman

Joe, looks like you need to put on your crusaders cape and come to this fellows rescue. Herman

Lloyd, is your coach anywhere close to the one in the pictures? Maybe this would be a solution for returning your coach to the U.S. As someone asked what does your insurance company have to say? Do they consider it a total loss or think it is repairable? Either way it seems to me that the decision would be up to them. If they consider it totaled, I would rent a trunk or trailer go get your stuff return to the U.S. and go looking for your next coach. I am very sorry that you are in this predicament. Hope a resolution comes soon. Herman

J, Welcome to the Forum. I would have used the Diode Kit and not have cut into the wiring harness. As for your last statement I Would be sure and run a charging line to keep the battery charged. Herman

Clean or replace your power cable's make plug and check your house receptacle (with the power of) for arc burns. Do you always turn of the power when plugging on your coach? Some of the main reasons for a hot power cable are dirty or arc burned plugs, a loose or bad connection and/or under size power cable. I have seen many power cable's where the pins are loose due to overheating. Good luck and let us know what you find. Herman

Craig, Does it leak only when you fill it to its capacity? If so then it may be the connection where the toilet connects to the tank. I myself would not worry about it because you never are that full of sewerage before you dump. Herman
-
I have heard of it being done but have not seen it done. You remove the empty tank. Then put a short piece of chain in the tank. Shake to tank. Put in some water shake the tank again. Drain the tank and repeat until the water is clear. Herman

Puff, please explain what the ARP unit is. Some folks may no know what it is including me.🤔 Herman

Mark, I would start with checking the connections on the generator. You may have a loose connection on one leg and it's not getting enough juice to start the air conditioner. Also check the voltage out put on both terminals. Herman

Lots different scenarios. Seal broken and fogged, fogged and etched, and or broken glass all will have different prices. Give Lee a call and he might be able to give you a SWAG estimate (Scientific Wild A#$ Guess)😃 Herman
