I just recently purchased four HD pads. Haven't used them yet. Remember: Be very careful of how high you put any pads/blocks under the jacks. My specific manual states 3 inches. Why? Wow! Having read this subject on other forums there is quite a controversy over many items regarding EZPass. For what it is worth: Last year we decided to take an East Coast trip and went to Florida, Disney World, and then up th East Coast. We had no problems with the North Cariolina EZ Pass which I ordered through the phone system. It worked in all the states listed on their web site. The portable transponder was $7.50 and it also came with a stick on transponder. I placed the portable transponder in the center bottom of the motorhome windshield. In conversation with the NC EZPass authorities it was stated to not use the stick on. The TOAD would be read and charged by the MH transponder. When the car is disconnected and used for sight seeing just take the portable transponder out of the MH and place it in the car. Worked for me. Very very recently I communicated with the NC EZPass authorities because I noticed that my account had the MH as 2 axles. I have a tag axle also. When I queried them by email. Here is that communications: "Thank you for contacting the NC Quick Pass Customer Service Center Support Team. We appreciate your time and effort in contacting us. We would be happy to assist you with your inquiry. No, this will not be a problem. Herman, exactly and my point was that even though we have different manufactures we have similarities and same problems between manufacturers. Also, it would behoove us all to read our own manufacturers manual for the proper operation and maintenance. I posted that my Mfg recommends silicone spray and not WD-40. Big difference in the properties. I wouldn't want anyone to use the wrong product and have a repair claim denied. Mike, or Jim, if y'all ever discover a fix for that problem please post the solution, Others with the same equipment will definitely benefit.

Just for information purposes since the OP is on HWH, "If jacks are extended for long periods of time, it is recommended to spray exposed jack rods with a dry silicone lubricant every three months for protection. If the coach is located in a salty environment, it is recommended to spray the rods every four to six weeks."

Pat, that is a nice 5'er and a Tiffin owned company. I looked for specs on type of awning but I could not find anything. Does that 5'er have a pull-ou bay under the King Pin? Saw that once in a 5'er and what a bunch of room that was.

We find places but sometimes it takes a few calls. We like KOA, even though they are a little more expensive and we are KOA Members so 10% discount. What we like is the on-line reservations system. Log in, check the campground, click book - done deal. You travel in better circles than we do. 🙂

Ray, thank for the information. My last MH said use transmission fluid or silicone. Apparently HWH uses WD-40 and that is what I'll start using. I have not cleaned mine on this MH but it is time to do so. Again, thanks.

Even the spring powered up if lubed with a fluid will cause that fluid to contact the rubber seal.

Joe, we have been there. We like Intercourse. Love Gettysburg. First time in that area we stayed at Roamers Retreat in Lancaster. Since then we have stayed at Artillery Ridge a couple times.

Port Aransas is about 200 miles Southwest of Galveston. The further South one goes the warmer it will be. Many Winter Texans go down to the RGV (Rio Grand Valley). Lot of nice RV parks all the way down the coast.

I don't have the same type jacks but by comparison mine will drop a little after storage for 30 days or so. I hit the all-up and once on the road don't have to worry about it anymore. They are HWH. Regarding WD-40, isn't that an oil based product and isn't oil bad for rubber? My manual says to use silicone, or, same fluid as put in the hydraulic tank - transmission fluid. Just curious, as I was under the impression that the oil based products would attack the seals after time. Help? Educate me.

Well Bill, after many years I have come to one conclusion. I'm the just the chauffeur. Really no particular reason. We were there 10 years ago. We like the Amish culture. Miya likes the horses and buggies. On day riding around we found a horse and buggy "tour" just ending. The guide was intrigued by Miya's ability to walk up to a horse and sniff hooves or go nose to nose with them. We mentioned we would take a tour if Miya was not with us. The guide said, come back at 4 p.m. when I'm done and we can all go. She showed up at 4 with a different wagon and the three of us got on and went for the tour. Miya was in seventh heaven. We like the area and besides, DW says they have a Walmart there now. Oh! I'd like to see the Ernest Warther Museum again in Dover. Fantastic carver.

Just for giggles: Before I unhooked the 50 amp at the house I started the generator (after shutting down the AC's) then unhooked the 50 amp and let the gen warm up. Fired up all 3 AC's and once we hit the highway, shut them down, turned the gen off and ran with just dash AC. Worked great on keeping us cool. About 15 miles from the RV park i fired up the Gen and started the AC's. Worked well. In rv spot, hooked up. had the gen set on auto and when the AC surge protector kicked in the gen shut down and all running on pedestal power. Love it.

Nope! As I stated we cancelled that route and headed to Millersburge, Ohio. We have reservations all the way and will spend the month of July there. Don't know where we will go for August but we have to plan soon. Nope, Ohio. Now Carl, the I and the O are close together on the keyboard but the D and H are a few keys apart. 🙂

Kay, I had an extra zero slip in there. Granted that .4 amps may keep a battery charged up but what about parasitic draws. WIth a step controller there may be a draw more than a lot of trickle chargers can provide. I had that scenario once upon a time. Then there are the other internal parasitic currents. Sorry about my miscalculation input of an extra zero. I just don't think 5 watts is good for much. Might run a transistor radio.

Thanks Bill, but we are locked in now to reservations all along our way. I'm glad I got them earlier. We don't boondock and need FHU. That is unless I want to make Earlene unhappy. Her idea of roughing it is no Walmart nearby. I'm also glad to have a Walmart near by so I can ask her if she could go by herself - restful peace - if you know what I mean. 😀 I'm sure glad she doesn't read this forum like she does another one. 5 Watts is approximately 0.04 amps. Wonder why they went so small. Even 100 Watts is 0.9 amps. As Ross stated, keep it clean for whatever use it is for.

We head out on the 20th to arrive in Millersburg, OH, and stay the month of July. Who know after that. Tried getting reservations in Flagstaff, AZ, but no availability within 90 miles. Had reservations as far as San Angelo but nothing available after that. Explained to us that it was the "oil boom" and workers are filling up the RV spots. Gee, $600-700 a month full hook-up, inexpensive RV, beats $2500 a month for a studio or 1 BR place. Sure does suck for us travelers though. Finding a lot of the same thing at Military Campgrounds.
