  1. Two days here in the 50's but then up into the 70's and low 80's.
  2. Is that a new word, "Winterize?" On this date, 3/28/2019, at 1730 hours (5:30 for you civilians) it is 72˚. If it drops 3 degrees it will be below freezing for my skin.
  3. Roland, sorry that we never got together for a meet. We live 16 miles from Stella Mare. We would have enjoyed showing you the sights.
  4. Al, remember that, "The journey is the destination."
  5. Joe, can your wife handle three dogs?😀
  6. Besides, I'd rather spend my time with fellow military than all those other jerks. Ooops! Sorry guys, didn't really mean it. 😈
  7. Just two questions. Who's sheets and towels do you want to use? Who's bed do you want to sleep on. Depending on the size, figure about a full tank of gas round trip, and go from there.
  8. We have the grass mowed every 10 days all year round, so what's the problem? Joe, your wife already had an "Old Goat," why does she want a baby one that will grow up the same?😇
  9. On some RV's the steps are stopped by a current limiting switch. This is electronic so there is a constant current to the step electronics. On my previous 2008 the trickle charge of the inverter was not enough to keep the chassis battery charged. After communicating with the Mfg they said to turn the step "off" so no current could flow. Once I did that I had no more problems. I was plugged into 110 v electrical. Just to be on the safer side I leave the steps in the out position in storage. So far so good. Just a sayin'.
  10. I can relate to that. Saying in my house, "I am master of this house. Whatever my wife says shall be done."
  11. I sanitized the system before each summer trip of 3-4 months. I drain the fresh water tank, remove the water filter, and pour Clorox bleach into the hose. (Using Mfg Ratio) Connect the hose to the water faucet and fill the tank. Run the faucets in all the areas until a faint odor of Clorox bleach is noticed. Let it sit for 4 hours or more. Drain the tank, refill and drain once more (gets rid of Clorox bleach taste.) Put the filter back in and fill the tank to whatever capacity you wish. Tip: if you have a short hose, hook it to the water faucet and after putting Clorox bleach in the other hose you can keep the Clorox bleach from draining by holding up both ends of the hoses and connecting.
  12. Yep! We have two weeks of weather. We have a day here and a day there and sometimes it totals two weeks. Just never consecutive.
  13. You're not holding your mouth right! (Or left.)
  14. Ah ha! So you've been to Texas, eh? Did Ribs in the Instant Pot the other night. Came out with the meat falling off the bone. Traeger takes 6 hours to do them right. Instant pot takes about an hour total.
  15. A couple of those panels hauled in the back of the toad could be set up outside the MH and used for boon-docking, with the right controllers.
  16. For all Dome satellites they only received on satellite at a time. Domes programmed for DISh will get Satellites 110, 119 and 129 one at a time and most domes are automatic tracking. For DirecTV it is only one satellite, 119 and on SD not HD, whereas DISH gets both SD and HD from their satellites. The original poster does not indicate how old the antenna is that he has. Some of the older domes came programmed with only one of the providers, DISh, DirecTV, or Bell. When I had a KingDome back in 2007 there was a program stepping of the controller I had to go through to get DISH satellites. I never fooled with DirecTV so don't know. For the portable domes the are DIP Switch dependent and can be programmed for each service. If you have the book, look at the instructions and it should tell you. You can pull the dome off of the antenna and obtain the model number and then call KingDome. If you really want the best of all worlds replace the KingDome with the Winegard Traveler for either Dish or DirecTV. Each traveler for those service providers are different and receiver specific in some cases. Costs are going to be dependent on the service you may have now. If you have a Stick & Bricks house with satellite then a receiver for the RV, in the case of DISH Network, would be an extra $7 to $15 a month depending on the receiver. Seven dollars for Wally and $15 for Hopper, I think. Definitely $7 for extra Wally.
  17. Yes, we will be there from the 14th through 24th and leave on 25th for Fort Sam Houston. Yep, Mon through Thur to avoid the crowds. The river tour boat takes you back to the point you left from. I think there are two points of departure. When you get down to the River Walk, just ask anyone standing outside the restaurant that wants you to come in where the nearest one is. The tour boat does not stop. Just goes and comes back. There is a River Taxi that you can take and get of at different spots. I have never taken it so I don't know what the cost may be. It is just a ride between points and does not point out the different land marks like the tour boat does. Bill the tour boat ticket booth is where one can pick up the dinner cruise. It is the same boat as the tour boat but equipped for dining.
  18. Two toilets here, both Thetford macerators. From what I have been told a pedal push flush toilet has to be seated over the black tank so it has a direct downward drop into the tank. Macerator toilets can be anywhere. So I guess in Winnebago's wisdom of old craftsman the put the black tank in and then decided to put toilets in away from the black tank. Every time you flush a macerator toilet it is almost 1 gallon for the "little" flush, and a gallon or more for the "big" flush. We can go about 3 days maybe a wee bit more, without dumping the black tank. It is 51 gallons, but the grey is 71 gallons, go figure.
  19. Oh yes! Those lights are beautiful. If you go to the Buckhorn Museum make sure you go into the Texas Ranger's Museum part. Be sure to notice a book depicting the family of John Himes Livergood and his pistol. John Himes Livergood came to Texas just after "The Alamo," and was in many fights with Indians of the time. He was also on the Meir Expedtion. He was the first Justice of Lavaca County. He is Earlene's Great Great Grandfather. p.s., we will be in SA from April 25 through May 4th. Prior to that we will be in Johnson City from April 14th through 24th. Come on down!
  20. Roland, I suspect you will go into San Antonio and to the Alamo. If you have Disabled plates or sticker you can park anywhere there is a parking meter for free. (Yes, you can park in the non-metered spaces for free also - duh!) However, finding a parking spot is the trick. Directly behind the Alamo at the intersection of E. Houston St and Bonham street there is a parking lot. They charge $20 a day but it is an easy in and out and very convenient. You walk out of the parking lot and you are at the back wall of the Alamo. There is a back gate to the gardens and walkway. When you leave the Alamo at the front entrance into Alamo Plaza you can walk across the street and take the stairs, or the hotel elevator, down to the River Walk. In the least when you are on the River Walk take the boat ride. Worth the money, and not that expensive. Also while in the SA area take you car/truck and ride the Mission Trail. Stop at the missions and enjoy. The Alamo is one of the missions.
