Thanks for the good wishes. I'm sure the MH has water in it. That area is devastated. We were up and down for street water. After the hurricane Carla in 1961 Texas City put up a sea wall to protect against 20 ft storm surge. During Ike it barricaded us against the 17 ft storm surge that hit us. Galveston is a barrier reef for us and they got hit with 20 ft plus storm surge. Today is not storm surge but continuous rain for the last several days. Texas City also installed 8 Archimedes principle pumps that will pull water out of Texas City. During Ike TC was an island and every community around it was flooded. Unfortunately the pump can only pump the water out into a lake until everything is full, then they have to stop them. We are apparently in that position now and the water is half way up the front lawn. Prayers needed for the rain to stop. Here are some pictures of what it looks like in our neighborhood.

I'd love to visit Tom, but my MH is at Dues Camping Center for minor repairs. I called when this storm was know to be coming and asked if I should pick it up. They said they were not calling people to come get the RV's. Never flooded in that area before that I am aware of, but maybe some old timers have other information. Anyhow, Dues Camping Center is on the North bound feeder from the intersection of I-45 and FM-517. It is about 1/2 mile up the feeder road, give or take a few 10ths. Guess what - it's flooded. Don't know how bad but I can be pretty sure it is in the bays. Could be higher. Hope insurance come through for us.

Check with CG's in SW Texas. Hurricane Harvey did its number on some and they may or may not rebuild.

If the bulb or fuse broke all you have to do is put the smoke back in and it will work. Or, take the bulb out and look at the filaments. If you see one broken or dangling get a new bulb before you start other trouble shooting.

My wife buys beef broth stock and mostly chicken broth stock I must say she was a good investment because she turned out to be a good cook...who would a thunk.

Lyle, Yep, I'm aware that it possibly will not stop the fire but it's a start. I'm hoping that should anything happen that having the extinguisher will make insurance claims easier.

Punxsy Are you familiar with the Military Campgrounds web site? Whenever we can we stay at the military FAM camps and there are a good number of them. Some are adequate and some are great with a few in-between but the price is usually very good compared to the surrounding civilian campgrounds. Nevada has two, Desert Eagle in Las Vegas and Fallon in/near Reno. Don't carry firearms if you plan on staying at military family camps.

I guess they didn't want to wait for traffic to pass so they could pull out wide. Also, if they had been paying attention they would have seen that the trailer wheels would not clear and could have backed up. Just always in a hurry.

Carl, Just traveling the street around here and let there be a car parked on the side, well there is room for 3 cars with space to spare but the oncoming car to me just has to stay 6 feet away from the parked car. Safety I guess.

Okay, narrow bridge. How wide were the lanes? I'll bet 8 feet. Doesn't seem to appear that they paid attention to staying inside the lines. I've been on that road. Nice scenic drive. I fit in an 8 foot lane but the mirrors stick out a bit. Remember the two lane highway going into Key West? I was driving a large military vehicle and every time a vehicle came from the opposite direction my concentration was on the right side abutment/line. The sole purpose was to keep from rubbing the wall. When an 18 wheeler was coming from the opposite directions our mirrors slapped against each other and I was as far right as I could possibly get, and so was he. Just saying that had the been more careful they may have been able to pass without incident, but courtesy should have prevailed and not being in a hurry. Be interesting to know what speed they tried that at.

I have the same problem on my coach. My bays are a strong polypropylene or some kind of thick hard plastic so I do not have problems with the floor or walls of the bays. However my coach is "dipped" but I'm sure that the fine craftsman had a holiday weekend and I got the first Tuesday back to work. The paint on the edges of the bays are peeling. If this coach was dipped it was in a water based paint. The paint peels of in strips so thin it would be hard to measure the thickness. I use a drill with a wire wheel to get into any spots I can and remove the surface rust and loose paint, scrape those areas that the wire wheel cannot get into. As said above I use the Rust-o-ileum primer and paint. Sometimes, just primer and then paint. After several years those places I have sprayed are still holding up. A good primer base is what I prefer to do and I use the spray on primer - grey - so I can see that I got all the area. Tape off any areas you do not want over spray on.

A week to 10 days and once in a while 14 days is about it for us. Like I said, Earlene gets ants in her pants.

To the OP. I don't know about your model MH but many have more than a trickle charger can keep up with if the STEP is left in the on position. The steps stop by an electronic current limiter switch and it is always drawing current. .... Check with Mfg.

I had an fire automatic suppression (extinguisher) put in the outside refrigerator compartment. At least it gives me peace of mind. We have a big escape window in the bedroom. Just throw the comforter over the windowsill and climb out. For the front of the MH we have a mid door entry that would be easily accessible should the alarm sound.

The only thing it will save on is Diesel or Gasoline, other than that the monthly rates are the same. I think a lot of people think that they have to keep moving. In my mind if you go from point A to point B to point C to point D in 3 nights you have filled up your tank 3 times. If you go to those same points and make it a week or more to get there you will most definitely save money by the time you get to point Z. Weekly rates are not bad and when you apply the different RV park discounts for GS, PPA,, etc., it is cheaper. It also allows some time to see some of these United States. We have come to the conclusion that you could spend a month in each State and never see all that that State has to offer. we have been to the West Coast now 4 times and have yet to see it all. We typically leave here the end of May or first of June and don't get back home until the end of Sep. or beginning of Oct. Earlene would never let me stay in one spot for months at a time....she'd climb the curtains.

Rich's solution could have two effects. Clean the smell - provide salad dressing. Herman started it!

Tom, My 2013 Lincoln also has a 65 mph rating but when i'm on cruise and going down a short steep grade and it goes up to 70 or 73 I just let it go and at the bottom come back to cruise. I also will jump up to over 70 to pass someone when safe to do so on a country road if they are going to slow. I have not had an detrimental effects. That's just me and everyone has to do what they are comfortable with. Has anyone every found out why the 65 limit is so predominant in TOADS?
