  1. I think you will be OK. The diesel generators don't have the problems the gas units have with old gas in the carburetor obviously. I think the problem of condensation in the generator shouldn't be that big of a problem as cold as it is where you are. Trying to think of things to adding load when you run the generator: Do you have a convection oven/microwave? It might be worth the cost of another small heater to add some load if you decide to run it. I have a small cube heater that on hi draws about 15 amps. Ultimately you have to decide what makes you comfortable. I think you will be fine letting it sit till you are ready to go somewhere. Bill
  2. I think you will be fine. I agree with Brett use a good biocide and a good anti gel. I would not start your main engine unless you could drive it for about 20 miles to get it and the transmission properly warmed up. I just did my monthly generator exercise today. Now it isn't 18 degrees so I was able to use both ac/heat pumps as a load and turned the convection/microwave on preheat to add some load with a space heater. It is amazing how much of a load you can run. With all that I was around 34 amps draw. Bill
  3. Well I normally don't use Shell either but had just crossed back into the US in northern NY State and was low on fuel and this was the first station I could get into. Ok so I had over 1/4 tank left but I don't like getting to low. Bill
  4. You might want to go back and carefully re read my OP and #4. Bill
  5. Yes I know about how they have additive packages for each brand. What I am commenting on is a Shell station not selling Shell diesel and having a sign on the pump saying "This is not a Shell Product" But not having anymore info. Bill
  6. This summer I ran across this in northern NY State. I had just crossed back from Canada and needed Diesel. Found a Shell station that I could get into and was pumping fuel when I noticed a small tag on the pump "This diesel is not a Shell product". I have never noticed this before. Just wondering if any one else has noticed this at any other stations. This was the only time I came across this. Just one of those things that make you go "what"! Bill
  7. islandboy1220, Welcome to the forum. After you check the fuse in the thermostat go to the zone where the furnace is not showing up and cycle through the "Mode" settings. See what it says about heat. Hear is something simple to try that has fixed several problems with the thermostat before. Take the front off the thermostat take out the fuse, make sure the fuse is good, re-install the fuse and see if it is working properly now. You could re cycle all power in the coach but this is easier. Bill
  8. Welcome to the forum. You could check with the dealer but it does seem pretty straight forward as outlined on page 10-84 of your owners manual. Happy Thanksgiving Bill
  9. Used parts is a big business. There are several RV yards that have parts. As Wayne said the parts market is big. There is a place locally who will by running cars and strip them down for the parts. I am talking one or two year old cars not 10-15. He told me he could triple what he paid for the car or more by parting it out. Glad your friend found his parts. Happy Thanksgiving Bill

    Tire Mounting

Talk to the shop but I don't see any reason you can't. The only problem I could think of is if they were to long and stuck ot where they might get damaged. But you are changing them out the shop should be able to install appropriate length ones. Happy Thanksgiving Bill
  11. I have a 2014 CR-V and LOVE it. I have recorded 30+ miles per gallon since new. Tows great has plenty of room. Go get the 2014 with the lowest miles now as they are the last year you can tow 4 down. Think about it your 2014 Buick Enclave will be worth less in February than it is now. Get the CR-V set up and take it with you. Bill
  12. I am with Herman. The only thing different I found a used Brake Buddy. Blue Ox sells an LED light package that works great. Bill
  13. I think my coach tracks pretty good. The next time I have the front end aligned I am going to have them tweak the toe in and caster. One thing to watch for is some roads have groves/troughs worn in to the wheel tracks from lots of traffic and heavy loads. You will see it more on asphalt paved roads. I have seen it on some concrete roads to. Your coach will try to climb the side of the grove causing a lot of wander. Long way to say sometimes the road contributes to the wander. Heres hoping after you go through your checks and alignment it helps with the problem. I know how tiring driving a problem coach can be. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Bill
  14. I would get a 4wheel alignment done. I had my coach done shortly after I bought it. I can't find the sheet but the rear axil was off by a couple of degrees. Even if yours checks out you will be able to rule that out in searching for better handling. After you get your new tiers and set the air pressure for your weight try this. Look further down the road sometimes drivers will tend to watch the road right in front of the coach. This tends to lead to more correction but if you can look further out you will find you are doing less correcting of the wheel. How do you like your 38N? Bill
  15. The problem is Remco did not offer either they just said to use a trailer. I agree if you could find a driveshaft disconnect that would work. Bill
  16. Glad you got it fixed and thank you for reporting back on your problem. Have a great Thanksgiving. Bill
  17. There is so much that could be done in the industry to make a quality RV. Just for background I was working in a quality driven industry. I was working in the last station of final assembly on the F-35 line. We had to sell everything to the customer and prove it worked. So I kind of know what it takes to deliver a quality product the RV industry not so much. I don’t see the will to change. You could do a lot to reduce weight with aluminum and composite structurers. Using honeycomb construction you could save a lot of weight in doors and cabinets. I like carbon fiber parts but now days that is becoming a generic term as the fibers in the mix can vary greatly from just carbon. The only problem is you need an autoclave to cure the finished/semi finished parts. Hear is a link to my old job where you can see several autoclaves in the top picture in the article. http://www.compositesworld.com/news/sierra-nevada-lockheed-martin-unveil-dream-chaser-composite-structure With one this big you could make the entire RV from composite. Could you imagine a 45 ft. diesel pusher with a composite one piece body that is stronger more rigid and over 50% lighter? http://www.aschome.com/index.php/en/asc-completes-worlds-largest-autoclave There are places doing work on building parts without using an autoclave. http://www.gmtcomposites.com/why/autoclave I think you will see more use of 3D printing to make parts. We were using 3D printing to make rapid prototyping tooling details for repairs. Bill
  18. Interesting that Remco says no "Must be towed using a trailer". The FMCA towing guide doesn't list it so I am wondering if anyone is making a base plate for it. Good luck I did hear of someone towing one but don't remember what year or details. Cars often change from year to year on tow ability. From what I have seen I would have to have some really good proof that you could do it with out causing damage. Bill
  19. Please verify your information. Neither the towing guide or Mazda list a 6 speed Miata in 2001. Bill
  20. Brett, I will have to add that to the list. To many great places. I am ready to come back. The first freeze of the year is expected tonight. I like taking the free ferry and watching the dolphins. Bill
  21. Yes but diesel is so much cheaper this year I didn't feel like going hunting for a Kroger I didn't know. If I had it would have cost me $1.49 as I had 40 points. Besides it wasn't BUCK-EE'S. Bill
  22. If you have some one who can check on the coach I would leave the heat off and if it is forecast to be below freezing have them turn the furnace on to the lowest setting. Then go turn it off once the cold front moves through. Most cold snaps only last a couple of days in that area. Bill
  23. Also as you posted to register your warranty so you can be contacted if there is a problem. That is so important it should be repeated often. Bill
  24. I have one too but I wasn't going to recommend it because lately they have been the most expensive. It might be a good thing to get incase of emergency's where you needed to use them it would be some discount. Example last month coming back from the coast Piolt/Flying J was $2.48 Buck-EE's was $2.07. Bill
  25. Quite interesting I re visited the Honda website and looked at BOTH the Owner's Manual and the Owner's Guide. Apparently there has been a revision. The one I looked at last time did not have any provision for Transport using Wheel lift equipment. Now it says under Emergency towing on page 461. Call a professional towing service if you need to tow your vehicle. All models, Flat bed equipment. The operator loads your vehicle on the back of a truck. This is the best way to transport your vehicle. Wheel lift equipment the tow truck uses two pivoting arms that go under the front tires and lift them off the ground. The rear tires remain on the ground. This is an acceptable way to tow your vehicle.(2 wheel drive only) Now interestingly in the notes it does not differentiate between the auto and 6 speed and says “Improper towing such as towing behind a motorhome or other motor vehicle can damage the transmission.” Now it appears they have added a whole new section under Towing on page 320 where it addresses towing the manual transmission cars. The Owner's Guide mimics the emergency towing info on page 107 I found nothing about towing the manual in the Owner's Guide. Good catch, interesting how they can change content with the click of a mouse. Bill
