I have metal shavings under rug, by fridge on my DS HWH slide! Slide works as usual in and out, the affected area is 6" wide in center off slide out! About 3 table spoons worth. Just noticed it. Any ideas?

Ask Brett, I don't know. Never had one!
-
Had Progressive, National and Allstate.... good, now expensive, somebody's got to pay for all the TV commercials! Now have Bluesky with disappearing deductible. No claim yet. Note: If someone hits you, use their insurance (if they have it) or your rates will go up until you have paid your insurance company back! My truck got "keyed" and USAA paid claim, my rate went up on renewal. Still use USAA on my toad and other cars/truck, also house. There are lots of "life insurance company's" that deal in RV insurance also! I and most of my friends don't have life insurance, but they use them for RV's.

Diesel Motorhome MPG-- Honest Answers Please

Ray. I was wondering who would react to the "downhill" part...LOL. Neil. Welcome. Your rig is a tad ( 9 feet ) over the length limit in most States. Nice looking coach! -
How Do You Know You Are Clear To Pull In After Passing?
manholt replied to kaelalynn's topic in Type A motorhomes
Your right, Bill! Nice thing about a MH is that we can get off the road and sit the bad stuff out and move around in dry comfort! Not so with a trailer, stay in truck or get wet on journey to trailer....He! He. Back to passing. Herman and Tom are spot on. In town on 2 lane roads and speed limits of 35 or 40, I take the left lane. On 3 lanes or more, I follow Tom! Stay safe, we are not in a sport's car and it's the journey that counts! -
Diesel Motorhome MPG-- Honest Answers Please
manholt replied to luckydog1949's topic in Type A motorhomes
Hi Lucky. I cruise at 63/64 mph, coach is 2010 Tradition, 45' with 4 slides, 2009 Cummins 425, Allison 3000...I run mostly in economy mode and put 16,000+ miles on coach last year. Toad is a Jeep Wrangler 2 door @ 3,900 pounds, coach is 60,300+/-....I get the same as Herman, 6.8 - 7.2 and I run generator when driving and Aqua Hot when I shower or do dishes. All electric coach! That's my 2 cents, another person could get more or less...we are all different ( ). Carl C. -
The last time my DPF light came on, I was on I-10 west of Houston. I maintained 63mph on cruise control and my engine diagnosis showed that exhaust #1 was at 650+/- and #2 was flexing between 1100-1200 degrees. It took the usual 15 minutes and happens at 2500-3000 miles. After 15 minutes the light goes out and the temperature on #2 exhaust is at around 650. My 425 Cummins is a 09'. Cummins Houston, services my coach every 14,000+/- miles and last year, they got to do it twice! Carl C.

Ouch! That's a real bummer. Considering the history of your blown engine, I would talk to Cummins about replacing it with a 600,,,,$29K is a lot off money to put out on something that may happen again! Good luck.

What do you need a hitch receiver on car for?

Herman. It looks fine...not my smart wheel, but I get the idea. The first time I had a "Smart wheel" was on a 06' Southwind. All other coaches, back to 1967, had a plain wheel...some had a button on floor that operated the high beam! Sure do love the new wheels

LOL. I suspect a hair ball, you get them in house and RV. I have 3 screws that hold the drain screen in place, but have yet to use it! Good luck. Carl

Advice: Base Plates, Brake Systems & Tow Bars

InvisiBrake and Roadmaster 6000#! I'm currently having a Lexan box being built to hold brake in a water and dust proof environment. Carl -
Dan. That's great! There is a lot to do, see and interact with, also a lot off great Forums and fellow FMCA'ers! Enjoy the moment Carl

George. As a Life member of the NRA, I do have and do travel with a weapon in the lower 48. I have found that I do not need one in Canada, therefore I abide by their laws. When I go into Canada or Mexico, I leave my weapon or weapons with a gun smith in the area I cross, then I call same when I get ready to enter the US. He/she gives me a gun shop where I can pick it up and normally it goes Fed Ex! I always pre pay...never have had a problem. Note: Make sure weapon is un loaded and do not leave any ammo in coach!!! You can get more ammo later...I carry a clip. Happy trails.

Advice: Base Plates, Brake Systems & Tow Bars
manholt replied to RTinVa's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Hi Rich. I towed a 07', 2500 Chevy Duramax 4x4 Crew Cab, with a 10,000# Blue Ox. Bought it and had it installed, with a brake master, at CW for $ 2396 in 08'. After about, 4 months and towing 3 times, I got a Jeep Wrangler for toad. Back then I felt like the "tail was wagging the dog"! Good luck! -
Jack, truckers do. They, like us, are looking for any indication that tells them it's safe to come back in...I generally use my head lights. I use clearance lights on/off in low light condition. On my coach, it's all on steering wheel. Carl C.
-
WOW! I have thought about a camera and now will get one. Thanks for sharing!! Carl
-
Ray, I hope you get a response and if you do please share. I think we all have had our close run ins, but I still find it about 70% of truckers are courteous. I run with my head and fog lights on, I have a light dimmer switch on my steering wheel and use it most of the time when trucks pass me. Also use my safety blinkers when a truck lets me know I can come back in after passing. I mostly use my rear camera and know when I'm clear, but I still acknowledge. There are some drivers out there, that I have no clue how they got a license....most trucks that I have had a problem with is FedEx and NAFTA!

Herman. The only thing I do different, is to flush hose with fresh water after each dump, then put away. Since it's only me in coach, I dump black about every week or so and gray every 3 to 4 days...this is when I'm in RV park for a longer time, otherwise about every other day on road. I do not leave hose out and connected. I have had more than one connector learn to walk away! All within the last 10 years....

LOL...your 03' looks like my 13', from the side! -
Solar is nice and I have it, however it does not work in a garage. When plugged in, my house batteries stay at 13.6v, but unless I turn my starter batteries off, they will drop to 12v over a month or longer time and I need to use house batteries for starting. I now have a separate system...so far, so good! I needed a "jump" once and used it to start generator, then used house batteries to start engine...later found out that I had a dead cell in engine battery. I can get at one to check, not the other. Before going to Madison for FMCA, I will replace both with AGM. Since all my 6v batteries are in 1 bay, no problem!

John, you can get a box that has the door for a lock and they are also water proof. At my house, all outside boxes are water proof and lockable. My RV is kept in a garage at a storage facility, so I only have a door to lock but I do have elect., connections inside. Good Luck!

Ditto! I would rather have more than less.
