  1. YUP, one reason I’m not a fan of those hoses. While they are less likely to chafe an internal failure is possible.
  2. On a CAT the governor (if mounted to the engine compressor) would be on the passenger side of the engine circled in the picture. Mounted on the engine this would hang off the rear of the compressor.
  3. One thing to add, the signal line from the air dryer to the governor is another culprit, they are often routed in such a poor manner that causes chaffing. All of our air lines to the governor that is remotely mounted are braided stainless steel, I suspect this was a problem area with the previous owner, I doubt it came that way from the factory. As mentioned faulty air dryers from neglect are another huge issue. Air dryers tend to be one of the most forgotten about components on an RV until they leave you stranded or contaminate the air system.
  4. You mentioned the timing was checked, its not too far advanced? Usually that's a condition of timing advanced (could be a problem with the distributor), or lack of fuel. I'd check the advance diaphragm on the distributor (assuming its vacuum) if all ok pull the carb and have it rebuilt or at a minimum opened up and checked, with that low of miles varnish inside wouldn't be a surprise causing it to starve for fuel or the accelerator pump (in the carb) could have a pin hole in it.
  5. Metfan112, depending on your mechanical abilities you could potentially set up the Traverse for not a lot of money. One of our friends bought a used tow bar, base plate and a used Brake Buddy and he wasn't in to all of it for $500.00. Took him the better part of a day to get everything installed in his driveway.
  6. backfiring through the carburetor or exhaust? How many miles on the engine?
  7. Sounds like someone with a volt meter and some time on their hands needs to chase the power and grounds around the chassis power distribution center.
  8. Metfan112, Welcome to the FMCA forums! The 2012 Traverse is flat towable and a supplemental brake system is also available. https://m-gengineering.com/compatibility-list/ 2012 towable guide https://images.goodsam.com/newmotorhome/towguides/DinghyGuide2012.pdf If it were me id flat tow the Traverse.
  9. edincleveland, When we started out we used a dolly. I picked up one of these used for $500.00. It worked great for the 2 years we used it, solid made with a steerable axle vs the deck plate pivoting. Not sure how Covid is effecting the used/new market on items like this but a quick Craig's list check in our area there were several (different brands) under $1000.00 https://www.demco-products.com/rv-towing/tow-dollies/karkaddyss
  10. While not accurate you can look over the coach floor plan and cargo and get some idea if there is an imbalance on a larger scale. Our coach is a good example of weight imbalance. Drivers side Our slides are on the driver side only (2 slides). Kitchen is on the front slide, (=heavy) King size bed that lifts Pull out bed/couch Spare tire in basement Of course, put me in the drivers seat now were leaning Passenger side couch dinette booth residential refrigerator restroom (sink and toilet) Vanity sink in bedroom clothes storage (dresser) I keep my tools under the dinette on this side to help a little Gallon water storage under dinette (maybe 10 gallons)
  11. If you have any fresh leftover you could send it to a lab for analysis. Wouldn’t be the most cost effective option. The real issue becomes, how do you duplicate it without a lab? Just mixing other products in the composition might be close enough but could that cause issues? In my experience older technology like this are pretty robust, if you locate something similar you’ll probably be ok. OR Have the components resealed to modern o-rings which would be more likely to handle what you put in it. Just ask the shop what those seals can tolerate.
  12. Yup, all fixed up and working! The thermostat took longer than expected. Probably should have ordered it from Amazon. I went with the local dealer (place I sent you for the transfer switch). I felt they probably needed my business more than Amazon.
  13. Helpful information, here is where to check for power on a 5 button thermostat. Interesting fact, the RJ11 cable is the same as a phone cable EXCEPT; On a phone cable the pins transpose on each end, on the Dometic cable if you set each plug on top of once another they should pin out identical. So you have to cut one end off and flip the wires OR take the junction block apart and flip the pins inside of it. You can use a standard RJ11 phone cable with little modification.
  14. Gee wiz Wayne, its only a little east of where your headed, I figured since you were on the road....... We have the cabin fever also, DW is working from home, I can see its getting tough staring at the same walls and we have ONLY taken one other trip this year so its time to get a way! This year we have only put 2500 miles on the coach, where normally its 7000 +. I might not even change the oil .
  15. I am headed to Florida in 21 Days, stop by..
  16. With all of that work going on how do you have cabin fever?

  19. From what I have seen on social media, Coach net and GS rates also doubled. Not sure how true that is but there was a lot of complaining about rate increases with other providers also.
  20. No, I am talking about the RV, portable unit. We are shopping for a house unit also not discussed here.
