  1. Yes, after being parked for a month or more and annually. HWH recommends spraying with WD40, wiping clean to remove dirt and any residue , then wiping with ATF on a rag, then wiping dry. HWH also says not to use anything else. WD40 is an excellent cleaner and solvent, but if allowed to dry, turns into a tacky coating..
  2. My alignment specs were found in the Reyco-Granning IFS service manual. That is the front suspension/steering component Spartan uses under their chassis. I don't know anything about what Freightliner uses under their chassis, and haven't had time to search the web for information or a service manual. You might find what you need here: https://freightliner.com/service/driver-maintenance-manuals/
  3. I wonder if straight-acting jacks are constructed the same?
  4. A locally-owned HDT repair shop did a total alignment on my Spartan MM chassis and found the cause of my steering wander problems. The rear axle thrust angle was out by 3/4", the steering alignment was slightly out. After that total alignment my MH drives and steers more like my Chevy Silverado handles. It was well worth the $300 alignment cost. Any shop that has equipment to align semi-tractors is qualified to align a MH. One thing to be aware of though, I took the alignment specs with me to the HDT repair shop and it was the right move, their alignment computer did not have the correct alignment specs in the data-base for my chassis.
  5. Some of those dentists have an office in the U.S.A. too, with prices that are much higher than in Mexico.
  6. Mikevp, https://www.startrackslifts.com/standinglifts.html does have stand-up lifts.

    Tires Opinion

FWIW, I'm running 6 Sailun truck tires, S637, 275/70R22/5 all-position tires. I'm not in favor or running rough-tread drive tires on a MH because I never plan to drive on soft surfaces. Since a MH has a open differential rough, noisy drive tires will not make much difference in dirt/mud anyway. If you're having a wheel alignment performed, go ahead and pay for a total alignment(~$300) and get the rear axle aligned too. When I had my MH aligned they found the rear axle was out of alignment by 3/4". The telltale sign of thrust angle incorrect is a crooked steering wheel when driving straight. Wheel balancing; I've always had tires spin-balanced, but as truck tires wear the balance point changes. Next set of tires will contain balancing beads and have the required special valve cores.
  8. I'm suffering from the after effects, picture borrowed.
  9. I did finally discover why my clam stalled. I took my MH to one body shop, got an estimate, then took it to another for a 2nd estimate. When the Progressive estimator saw the 1st one he immediately paid the claim to the body shop and closed my claim.Their estimator was apparently trying to force me to use the 1st body shop ever since, and that body shops estimate was $4K below what Progressive paid them. Wayne reminded me, I must go check on our MH early this coming week, it's been 2 weeks.
  10. Not covered in that link is a flag hanging on a wall vertically. Where does the stars go, upper left corner or upper right corner as looking at the flag? Several years ago an acquaintance who was retired Army, was an OTR truck driver with a day-trip schedule. This one small town in ILL he passed through daily flew a flag above the police dept. He noticed it was ragged, so stopped and told them it should be replaced. A week later he observed the ragged flag had not been replaced. He stopped his semi in the middle of the street in front of the police dept. walked over, lowered the flag and folded it, took it inside and asked to speak with the police dept. head. He handed him the flag and explained why he did that; returned to his truck and continued his trip. On his return through that town that evening he noticed a new flag flying. He was a VN vet from !st CAV. Div. and somewhat crusty.
  11. Well, Progressive Ins. has stalled the 3rd party estimate process, so i filed a complaint with the Indiana Dept. of Insurance about this debacle. Hopefully they will kick-start Progressive management into repairing our MH before spring arrives again.
  12. I would try to locate a nearby church and ask; then if approved, make a $20 or so donation to the church building fund. If you want a free spot, reassess your opinion of PFJ, Loves, etc.
  13. cwswine, I think Jeep came out with a special wiring harness to eliminate the "death wobble". DW bought a new 2017 GC Limited and was told at the time "do not tow behind your MH", so instead we tow my 2013 Silverado. This forum thread explains: https://www.irv2.com/forums/f85/make-cherokee-flat-tow-mode-automatic-297500.html
  14. Since our Ft. Myers Beach RV resort is history, we wanted to go to Q this winter, but our MH has been and still is in a body shop since April while Progressive Ins. whines about the repair estimate amount.
  15. On this parts list #18 is the mixing valve. If the eco-thermostat is allowing the water temperature to reach 130-140°F it is working OK, if the water temperature, as measured when draining a bit into a cup already containing a thermometer is lower than 120-130°, the thermostat should first be checked to insure it is lying flat against the tank, otherwise it should be replaced. These are all DIY projects, just take care not to get scalded.

That is the way it should be IMO; Chris experienced that a few years ago, he posted and it suddenly became pile-on time instead of rational discussion. Then lets not forget about Herman, he was a regular poster.
  17. Without details anything I say is speculation, what is brand and model# of your furnace? As to using quick disconnect terminals, every joint and connection creates resistance and when that connection corrodes it raises resistance levels higher.

Last I heard, Carl and his wife are on a cruise. But I suspect many members are not on the forums due to Herman's death.
  19. First, this dash air system is nothing special, any automotive A/C shop can work on it, but the sheer size of a MH might intimidate some techs. Without knowing the brand of your A/C system all I can do it speculate. The first thing to do is determine if the water valve to the heater core is operating as designed. When you have the heater running the hose on both sides of the water valve should feel hot/warm. When the A/C is running the outlet side of the water valve hose should not feel warm. It is does the water valve is defective. If it does not feel warm, the next step is to determine if the compressor is running. When the compressor is running both the belt pulley and the inside of the pulley will be spinning. If the inside is not spinning the refrigerant level must be checked. Instead of writing a book, I'll now refer you to this very complete Heavy Duty Air Conditioning Service Manual, which does address long refrigerant hoses found on MH's. If your A/C system is an Evans TempCon,(ProAirlic.com)) they filed bankruptcy a few months ago. As a result their website is down, but parts are available from other suppliers. This is all my bookmarks for a 12V A/C system, including all brands I have found on the internet: 12V air conditioning https://www.btrac.com/documents/svc-manual-revision-i-feb-2011.pdf https://coldhose.com/ https://www.nwrvsupply.com/category/05-03.html https://www.proairllc.com/design-engineering/evans-tempcon-guides/ http://www.cdr-roc.com/RSF/RV-CAR/Travel Supreme/Spartan & chassis info/EVANS Dash HVAC_System_Service_Manual.pdf https://www.comfortairgr.com/product-category/evans-tempcon-motorome-rv-parts/ https://www.comfortairgr.com/product-category/evans-tempcon-motorome-rv-parts/ https://newpar.newmarcorp.com/instance1Env99NEWMAR/html/images/SS2013EVEQUILTRAIN.pdf https://www.rvtechmag.com/tech/51_r134.php https://rvcoolingunit.com/Default.aspx https://www.comfortairgr.com/product-category/scs-victory-climate-systems/ https://library.densoassets.com/m/155322b79fcb708a/original/RV-HVAC-Service-Manual.pdf http://soldbyrichard.com/rvacheaterparts.php http://acmeairparts.com/rvacheaterparts.html https://www.amazon.com/nextzett-96110515-Klima-Cleaner-Conditioner-Cleaner/dp/B0002Z2MKO https://www.winnebago.com/Files/Files/Winnebago/Resources/Service/2016-01 Evans Tempcon Auto Air Conditioning.pdf https://www.comfortairgr.com/rv-hvac-downloads/
  20. Indiana is my state. The salvage yard manager with whom I do business said the state police regularly check his records. You are right, nothing will stop a determined thief, as your pictures prove.
  21. First do some homework. Go to bryantrv.com or MyRVwork.com and download the installation manual for your make/model refrigerator. Then closely inspect the installation in your trailer, measuring distances and angles. This is a fairly common problem with RV mfgrs. they appear to do what is quicker and easier vs exactly what the manual states. This results in poor cooling. In the meantime, consider adding a small 12V blower-type fan on the condensing coils pointing up the poorly installed chimney.
  22. I no longer trust these online towing guides. I have found several errors in them in the past, so I always refer folks to the specific owners manual, under recreational towing section.
