Tire man: I went to my local dealer which is not in the FMCA Advantage program. The dealer suggested that I use the new Michelin tire, 275/70R22.5 load range J tread X MULTIZ. He checked Michelin warehouse and stated they have many in stock. He gave me a price of $650 w/tax+$35 install with new stems. I tried the FMCA system for the size and this new tire isn’t listed. The email says to call Michelin Customer Service which I did. They confirmed that the warehouse had a great number if this tire. I asked price, but they couldn’t give it to me. I had to call FMCA. So I did and they said to call Michelin, but they gave me a different number 888-532/6435. So I called that number. Michelin wanted the item code which I didn’t have, but they looked it up based on the description above. The item code is 31513. Also, yes the warehouse has a lot of them. They gave me a price of $517.05+$32.51 fet. I would probably need to add 7% for Indiana sales tax of $36.19 to match my dealer. The tire would then be $585.75. If I add $35 for install and new stems, which is a guess, the total would be $620.75. Or about $64.24 less than my local dealer. For six tires I would save $385.50. I would like to support my local dealer, for that amount I can drive to Indianapolis to an Advantage dealer. Now after all that have you or anyone know about these tires? The Michelin Library Specs state that the features are: New tread compound, 9% greater net contact area, Angled groove walls, Zig-zag sipes and Groove bottom protectors.

Happy Trails uses the conversion date. It gets sticky if the individual converts their own.

I was able to use two 1 1/2” wide aluminum “bar” about 6” long at the top. Screwed into cabinet, didn’t screw into frig. It captured the cabinet edge by about 3/8”. In back I used an el bracket on both sides. Screwed into floor and edge of frig. Used the adjustable legs in front to level. Hasn’t moved in 4 years.

Happy Trails RV Resort in Surprise, AZ has the ten year rule for as long as we have owned our lot, 16 years. One can send pictures to apply for exception, but the board of the HOA has to approve which can take a few months. Those that rent there usually apply for the next season before they leave this season. Also, even if you have been grandfathered in because you own your lot and your RV ages to exceed the 10 year rule, your RV must be kept in like new condition.

I would callChris Smith, but the budget you got for the 2018/2019 had the actuals for the previous year shown.

Sam’s Club backed out of giving those that renew the discount, but new members do get the discount.

The Board of Directors of FMC serve without pay. And yes, the profit or loss rolls up to FMCA the parent company.
-
This FMC is Family Motor Coaching, Inc. I forgot to add the magazine, Family RVing, to the list of items above that are under the for profit corporation, FMC, which is wholly owned by FMCA. The FMCA Executive Board members are also the Board of Directors of FMC. The separation of the two allows FMCA to enjoy certain tax benefits of the not for profit status. To maintain this status, FMCA must set aside funds for education which was just more than doubled in the budget passed by the Governing Board in their Gillette meeting. After Nov 1st look for some new educational opportunities for our members. I don’t know any specifics, but there are opportunities there to provide education for members. One I would like to see is “Hands on Driving of RVs”

I sm not sure why I would need a P&L when the info is in the next proposed budget. As to the guarded secret, the information isn’t published until there has been an audit.

Who, What, When, Where or Just Lets Talk
rossboyer replied to hermanmullins's topic in General Discussion
Yes, PlaMor is a great campground in that area. Just be careful where you are parked in the back ‘40’. Stick with the hi ground. The heavy rains will make the lower sites mud. How do I know, I have been towed out of a sites twice. But I will still stay there. -
But you can see FMC rollup into FMCA by looking at the proposed budget which shows the past year. The FMC includes conventions, merchandise store, and some other items that FMCA gets for logo use on products.

By the time I would drive 736 miles round trip, probably not, a friend let’s me park at his business and plug into 50 amp at no cost. Gives me a chance to visit and go out to eat with them. I have had Stuart’s Service install jacks before. Their work is excellent. I know HWH is in Moscow. Just drove by there twice going and return from Gillette.

In two weeks I will be replacing the Atwood system with a HWH automatic system. $6,520 at Stuart’s Service in Elkhart, Indiana. Don’t want too, but I have had it. I even soldered the control wires directly to the etches on the power control board. Bought about 6 months more service, but now always get no brake; therefore, won’t go down. Sometimes the control panel doesn’t get power, so if down, won’t go up. My expence to try to keep the Atwood system running has been close to $3,000 over 10 year period not to mention the aggravation. I had HWH on two other coaches. Only one problem was a hose leak at the thread. HWH sent me a replacement for both front jacks at no charge. I may not buy another coach, but if I do it will not have Atwood jacks.

I’ll try from my computer, but I couldn’t from my iPhone. I do have two different printer apps. Tried both, but no joy.

How do I print out the list? Viewing on line doesn’t cut it when on the road. Maybe you need to list it here.

We will be going to a chapter rally next week. About 60 miles one way with about 40 on interstate where I can run speed limit of 70 mph. Should be enough to get hot or not. Then the next week I am going to Elkhart about 150 miles one way. Need to replace Atwood jack system with HWH at $6,520. Early October new tires $4,200. Who said it was cheaper to go camping?

Stoops Freightliner (a division of Truck Country) did service the cooling system. The tech immediately began to remove lower radiator hose. The low point drain is 6 to 8 inches above the bottom of the radiator. Service Manager stated that even the big rig Freightliners have the same problem. Did take about 6 hours, because Cat no longer has ELC concentrate available, only 50/50 ELC. They had to go to Cat in Indianapolis about 90 miles round trip to get another 6 gallons to go with the 6 gallons they had on the shelf. Only used 10 gallons. I think the capacity is 38-39 quarts, so I think they did well and responded to the error of their parent company, Truck Country. Have not driven far enough to check temp to see if I got radiator cleaned well enough.

On the way home from the FMCA Gillette Convention, one of the hoses chaffed and leaked coolant. Limped into Davenport, Iowa Truck Country Freightliner, Caterpillar couldn’t get me in for two weeks. Within 2 hours problem diagnosed and started replacement. Specifically, I stated I wanted ELC coolant. When I got home about 400 miles travel, I found that they had put in 6 gallons of 50/50 SCA coolant. Called and they wanted me to bring it back to be flushed and filled with correct coolant. Stoops Freightliner is 5 miles from home and Truck Country and Stoops are now one company. So today, I am sitting in Stoops Customer Lounge waiting for flush and refill. They have 6 gallons of Cat 119-5150 concentrate ELC coolant. I brought 10 gallons of distilled water to complete the fill. Should only need less than 5 gallons of distilled water. Hopefully, Stoops will do it correctly.

Single or Tandem axles - is one more stable?
rossboyer replied to kwl0525's topic in Travel-Trailers
I have found that tandem axle trailers are easier to back up than single axle. They just don’t jack-knife as easily. -
When I did it, I cleaned from inside then from outside. I was surprised how much black dirt came out when I power washed from the rear. Altogether, I went over the radiator from the rear in 4 different sessions. Hopefully, it is cleaner than I have ever done. When I road test I will post again the results.

We did stay at the Devils Tower KOA Sunday night after leaving Gillette Convention. I was satisfied with site and access.
-
That is the location i put the hole. Could not get it in the center due to hose, support bar and slobber tube which does extend past the radiator. I have used the pressure washer about an hour in three sessions. Still collecting black dirt in a bucket. Will do it a couple more times tomorrow.

I have had an overheating problem for as long as I have owned my 2006 Fleetwood Expedition. I have consulted with Caterpillar, Fleetwood and Freightliner. The process I have used is to work from the inside. There isn’t very much room between the engine and fan, but I have a two gallon pump sprayer with a long wand that gets between safely. In 2 gal of warm water I add one cup Dawn and one cup Simple Green Extreme. Besure to use the Extreme because it will not cause problems with aluminum radiators. 1. I spray the radiator from the inside(have to remove floor of closet). 2. I use my garden hose with a small nozzle and spray the radiator 3. Start engine and spray with the cleaning solution. Spray with garden hose again 4. Repeat #3 until I have used all two gal of cleaner. Foam coming out the rear will be white. Usually takes me about an hour. 5. Spray with garden hose until all foam is gone. The above are the steps I have used for 14 years on my coachs once or twice a year. At the FMCA Gillette Convention, I consulted with Freightliner again. There rep said that was very good, but he wanted me to do two more things. 1. Before starting to clean use a 1 1/2 inch hole saw and put hole in bottom of fan shroud being careful to not hit radiator. He stated that the dirt collects there and when dry will clog radiator again 2. Clean as I have done in the past. 3. From the outside use a pressure washer using the fan nozzle about a foot or more from the radiator. Caution don’t use so much pressure that you bend radiator fins. Start in upper left corner and move to center. Go to upper right corner moving to center. Continue down the radiator until water that drips out the bottom is clear i have had to make many passes, but I have found that there is a great amount of black dirt does come out using the pressure washer. 4. After dry cover hole that was cut in fan shroud with extreme tape to prevent turbulence. I won’t be able to drive far enough away for a few weeks to test to see if this is the solution, but a lit more dirt has come out.
