  1. Is there a way to test the auto start on my coach other then discharging the batteries to see if it will start when needed? 2002 Monaco Dynasty*************4 each 6 volt house batteries*********** 2000 watt Trace Modified Sine Wave Inverter. Herman
  2. Back around 68 or 69, my brother-in-law was coming to visit from Oklahoma. He was driving a 60 something VW. He was following a Simi and said it was shaking really bad. So he pulled out to pass the truck. He said the VW felt like it dropped an anchor. So much power. Herman
  3. Carl, You sound just like the kind of person I want to run into me! Herman
  4. Gene, I suspect a possible loose ground. The dash lights should not be running through the ignition switch. Do they flicker when driving down the road or just when stopped? In my opinion it must be a bad ground. Herman
  5. Learning should never stop. But it is also good to teach. We all have a vast amount of knowledge that we don't need to keep. It need to be passed to those coming behind us. Herman
  6. See I'm not the only on with Microsoft Spell Check. Herman
  7. Vanha, You might try googling RV Salvage. There a number of them across the country and they may have just what you need. Colaws in Carthridge Missouri comes to mind. Herman
  8. Jim, Your Norcold or Dometic refrigerator will run off the inverter. However the Ice maker, if you have one, runs off the shore power. This prevents the unit from filling with water as you drive and splashing out from movement and freezing into one big clump. And we all know how hard those clumps are to fit into a Bloody Mary. 9. Another thing to take into consideration is, Where is the dealer you might buy from located. If you live in Northern Maine and the Dealer is in Southern California, then there might be a problem. A good friend of ours bought and took delivery of a coach the last time in Perry. They live in Texas. The dealer was in California where they had to go to have items fixed, which the dealer finally gave up on and sent them to Indiana where the spent clos to six weeks. However their unit is now fixed and they love it, but just not the hassle. The Rally is a great place to see almost ever thing there is to offer and you get to pick, buy or order. So go, look, fall in love and don't forget you check book. Herman
  10. Bill, I understand that the subject have gone all over the place. I did start by asking about what weight of oil to use in the Oil Bath Hubs. Others have asked and made comets about greased hubs or oil bath, would you change and why. As far as changing the seals, I didn't mean that I was going to change them. However I do believe that if I am going to work on such as the hubs, more especially on such a large item as on a motor home, I would replace every thing replaceable while I have it torn down. Bearings, Seals, and Pads. Also turn the rotors. See even I got off track again. Thanks, Herman
  11. Yes Gentlemen, it is a "Very Expensive Saw." While recuperating from sugary I wanted to continue working on my projects. So my Dr. wrote a prescription of this Very Expensive Saw. Medicare paid for the complete Prototype unit but would only cover 80% of the production model. Thank goodness for Mutual of Omaha who covered the balance. Since then Snap-On, Matco and Craftsman have applied of licensing agreements, but at this time none have been granted. Herman "A Texan, Born and Raised in TEXAS"
  12. Joe, he has a 1995 Foretravel. And I really like you price better then Monaco. Herman
  13. Joe, Brett is correct about consulting with a truck repair shop. I just checked with Monaco about the Part Number and cost of an airbag for my Roadmaster chassis. I can't remember the P/N but do remember the price $541.00 each. A friend of mine had a bag go bad in Shreveport at the Rally. It didn't cost that much for the service call and the parts. He has since then bought a couple of bags, I will find out where he got them and post it here. Herman
  14. No I will leave that task to a much younger and stronger expert. Expert, Ex = a has been and a spert = is a drip under pressure. Herman
  15. Darn ole spell check. It still doesn't know what I want to say. Herman
  16. No problem Bill. My motto is to keep moving. I was in the Navy and would rather be saluted then painted Gray. I didn't repair my unit, I replaced it with a residential. Removing the ole Norcold was the easiest part. I just pulled it out of its hole. Cut off everything on the back, took everything off the front and removed everything on the inside. Then came the fun part. I took my recuperating saw, cut it into small pieces and threw them out the front door. If you are in Perry and would like to see my installation I will be more then happy to show it to you. See everyone in 23 days in Perry. Herman
  17. Sorry no. However you can call ahead and reserve one from one of the local rental dealers. Good luck, Herman
  18. Jimbo, Welcome to the Forum. For much quicker results give Tiffin a call. They can tell you if there is another filter and where it is located. Several other things to check are oil level, water level and fuel. Oil and water both have sensors for over heating and low oil. If your fuel is below 1/4 it will also shut the generator down so you won't run out of fuel. Herman

  20. Tommy, Sorry for your unhappy experience's with GS and Coach Net. I have had Coach Net for at least 6 years and have had nothing but good result each time I have called them. Sorry I can't speak for GS. See Post #3, Ray has some comments on FMCA Road Side Assistance. I'm sure they all have their good points and their flaws . Herman
  21. Ladies and Gentlemen, This got carried over on to Ray's Posting on the retiring of his coach. Sorry. I need to ask for more information on the Oil Bath Hubs. Joe said that he has added Oil Bath Hubs to his steering wheels. Are your front hubs packed with standard Wheel Bearing Grease? And if so do you have to clean the grease from the bearings and inside the hubs before adding the oil bath hubs? If so and I decide to do so that sounds like the ideal time for new seals and brake pads. I am quite familiar with both front wheel bearings on automobiles and Buddy Bearings on trailers but am dumb as dirt on hubs the size on my coach . Herman
  22. Ricker6305, Welcome to the Forum. And Thank you for your kind words for our neighbors. They are to be counted in with "The Greatest Generation". Thanks, Herman
  23. Joe, No my front hub cap is solid. The center of each of my covers have the "R" logo for Roadmaster on them. I will have to go and see if I have room for the oil bath hubs on the steer axle hubs. Herman
  24. Steve, Sorry I missed read your post. I would do just as Ray said. Have a small tab made and spot welded on and reinstall your old rings. Simple solution to a simple problem. Way to go Ray. (My goodness I rhymed) Herman
