  1. Sorry Chuck, however in my Dynasty there are three water pump switches. One in the Bath, one under the Kitchen Sink and one in the Bay. All are momentary. Herman
  2. emarq, I am not disagreeing with you, but if you have drained your water heater and blown out the lines then you will not have any water in your system therefore, I see no reason for anti-freeze.
  3. Ron, look up smart wheel on google. You will find your wheel and print the manual. Then call them. A very nice tech will walk you through the process to determine you:r problem. Herman
  4. Mr Wiggins, pardon the pun. I just thought of the character Tim Conway played. I agree to some extent, however I have gone back to some older post for information I remember. Herman
  5. John, There are chapters out there for younger folks like you and Jill. Our current FMCA national president, Charlie Adcock, is adamant about getting younger members like you and Jill active in FMCA. He has instituted a group of members under 60 to help increase the number of younger members. With your permission I will pass your name to him. Please send me, by a personal message, your information. This time I won't confuse you with Jeff. Hopefully there may be some other members out there reading the Forum and can get with you to form a chapter for young families. Your friend, Herman
  6. Chuck, Each of your switches are momentary switches. If I understand it correctly there is a relay that when activated sends power to the pump. When your pressure limiter determines the pressure is correct it will break the connection. There will still be power to the pump until you disconnect the power with your momentary switch. So it seems to me that on the positive wire to the pump you should be able to tap on to the + line to a light. It may require running some wires to a light some where. Any body else have a better idea??? Herman
  7. srfridley, To you taste and odor problem, I have no advice. However I have never put the anti-freeze in my water lines. I will drain my water tank and hot water tank. I will then Blow out the water lines. I then add anti-freeze to the drains. This way when we de-winterize the coach we have nothing in the water lines to clear other then air. Good luck and I look forward to the solution to your problem. Herman
  8. Clean, empty, flush tank, empty again, add some water then go out again. We are fortunate to have a clean out drain at home. So each time we are returning home and are about half an hour from home the DW will dump our ice tray in the bowl and flush. that way the ice will hopefully dislodge any stuff and will go on down the drain when I dump at home. Herman
  9. gadget, A step cover is good to keep you from slipping on the step in bad weather. They can be found in various colors and as huffy said try Camping World or a like RV Dealer or parts house. However the choice of colors is limited. Might I suggest that you also look for a all weather door mat. You can get a mat that you can scrape the dirt from you shoes before entering your coach. Herman
  10. kerry, Welcome to the Forum. And you are correct about your question. However 99% of the folk looking to the FMCA (Family Motor Cpach Association) Forum have a motor home of some sort or size. That being said, if you decide to go to a motor home we would love for you to join FMCA and come camping with us. Which ever way you decide, enjoy your retirement and full timeing. German
  11. motorcyclist, What coach are you planning on mounting the lift on? Reason I ask is do you really want that much extra weight on the rear of your unit? That much weight will surely have an effect on the steering of your coach by having a lifting effect, making the steering much lighter. A lighter front end can cause all kinds of problems. Just my thoughts. Have safe travels, Herman
  12. djrdgway, When you are on cruise do you have the transmission in MODE? If so your transmission wont down shift as fast as it will out of MODE. When I am on cruise and in MODE and come to an incline, I will step down on the accelerator so the Boost will kick in. This way my torque is kept up and I can make the climb with ease. Herman
  13. wsxt1, Welcome to the Forum. How much of a load do you have on when you have the 12v power loss? The minute you loose power have you flipped the Battery Switch and you get the power back? If so I would suspect the switch. Herman
  14. nelsokelso, Do you know where your inverter is mounted? The reason for asking is it may be something else. Your inverter should be in one of your bays. Some are mounted in plane sight while others almost seem hidden. If you find it then you can determine if it is the inverter and go from there. Herman
  15. Puff, I am not familiar with the Ford but on my Last two Chevrolets I had to, Set the Park Brake, turn the key to the on position, place the transmission into neutral, put my foot on the brake and hold the 2WD and the 4WD buttons down at the same time until the red neutral light come on. Then place the Transmission back in park, release the brake turn off and remove the key(no wheel lock pin). I do however have the DW check the lights and that the wheels roll free before we depart. Sound like Ford is a little more RV friendly now. Don, Do you know if your Ford has a locking pin for the steering wheel? If so you will need the key in a position that will release the locking pin. With just the key on for the wheel you should not run your battery down, how ever if you have a braking system that requires connection the a power outlet, then yes you may run your battery down. Herman
  16. tsheppard1958, On my dynasty there is a leveling pad. There are a Off, Raise, Dump, and an Air buttons. I do not have jacks, just the air leveling. When I park I do the following: 1) dump the air, 2) press the air button twice (at this point the 4 corner red lights will light up and an orange light will appear until that area is level) 3) I then put out the slides and repeat step 2. On your Cayman you may have jacks. If so you should dump your air first then level the coach. By dumping the air you lower the coach and the jacks do not have to extend so far. Herman
  17. Bill, the reason you could not make the catch, was you were chasing a pink hat. Most of the time you would have seen my Orange leading a coach to the vendor area. Wish we could have visited. Will I see you in Shreveport? Herman
  18. I also agree that a grease able bearing is nice. If you can see a zerk fitting it may get greased. If you can't, it never will. Herman
  19. Bluebird, Now is the opportunity for going to a National or Area Rally. Go enjoy and while there have Blue Ox Service your tow bar. It cost $25.00 and they come to your coach, pickup the tow bar, take it to their trailer repair any problems and return it to your coach. Great tow bar and great people. So go enjoy and geter dune! Herman
  20. adameve7553 Welcome to the Forum. I just had the same problem with my step. It turned out that the motor was locked. loosened several bolts and it became unstuck. My unit is a Kiwkee and I did order a new Motor and gear box. It came with every thing to rebuild the step completely. I have put it in the Chest I keep spare parts in in the bay. I will replace it should the step get locked up again. To help unlock the step you might try pulling the cotter pin and pin on the arm. This might release the bind and let the step work again. Good Luck, Herman
  21. ultiaglide, I happen to be a tool nut. (so my wife says). So in most cases I have what I need and enough to help a fellow RVer make a repair. I have a complete Tool Box in my compartment slide. Jumper Cables, Extra Belts and Wiper Blades ( I always keep the old ones I take off just in case), extra Fuel Filters, a Cordless drill with drill bits and a Air Hose with Pressure Gauge. But as I said I am a tool nut. Good Luck, Herman
  22. David, there is a company in El Dorado, AR that takes FMC Motor Homes and reworks their engines. Sorry I can't remember the name but a check with the chamber of commerce will get you their number. The FMC Motor Home is a Gas Pusher. Herman

    Rock Guard

John, Google Rock Guard motor home, there are several out there. There was a company that advertised in the Family Motor Home Magazine but I could not find it in the latest issue. There was also a company at the National Rally in Perry, so if you have the issue listing all of the venders you may find them there also. Herman
