LP Gas Not Flowing To Appliances
hermanmullins replied to bigbryank's topic in Systems and Appliances
I had this problem on one of our coaches. It turned out that I had a bad Gas Leak Detecter. Each time we took the coach out I had to spray the unit with a can of compressed air (computer cleaning). It would work until the next time we turned off the gas for storage, Then we would have to spray it again. When I replaced the unit no more problems. Good Luck- 7 replies

I too have a friend that tows a Colorado and he has no complaints. He also carries a golf cart in the P/U. He has said that it tows nicely however he has the 4 cylinder and says it doesn't have enough power. Good tow, good milage, not much power.

Then I'm on my way as early as possible. When I make these kind of stops I'm on my way somewhere and I'm making the most of the daylight I have on any given day. Tom, Judging from the time of your post, 2:34 am, you are going to make alot out of the daylight today. Enjoy California and stay away from Van Horn

Fresh Water Tank Filling With City Water
hermanmullins replied to fabloom's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
fabloom, Welcome to the Forum. I had the same problem as yours. As Brett said, "Check Valve". Call Shurflo and you can order one from them. Its a snap to install literally, you remove the old one and the new one just "snaps" in place. Walla, problem solved. Good Luck -
Used Diesel Mortorhome Purchase Advice
hermanmullins replied to HemiSuperBee's topic in Buying an RV
SuperBee, Welcome to the Forum. From your post this will be your first Motor Home. If so have you had Travel Trailer, 5th wheels or popups? If this is your first adventure into a motor home, might I suggest that you rent a MH and see if you like this style of Traveling. If you do like it you will get an idea of what you want in a MH. If you don't care for it, it will be a small investment rather then $XXX,XXX.00. I my self have had two Monacos and dearly loved each one. They both gave and still do give us great service and comfort. If you are still looking and haven't made your purchase yet let me suggest the following Dealers for per-owned Coaches. Mr Olivers RV in McKinney, TX and Motor Homes of Texas, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Both of these dealers carry very good and clean units. -
First Time Towing - CR-V
hermanmullins replied to johnnyringo's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Jay, Welcome to the Forum and to RVing. I agree that you just may not be used to towing. It is good that you notice these things. As you continue to travel you will be more comfortable and have more confident in yourself. How does your CRV drive? You might have the alignment checked. It might be just a little out and you don't notice it when you a driving but it may not be tracking correctly and that is what you are feeling. As you tow you might keep an eye on the front tires of the CRV and look for cupping. This would be a sign of alignment issues. Good luck and keep the Forum abreast of your solution. -
The best way to have International Rallies would be to split them each year. I know that having all of the rallies in the middle is convenient for the FMCA Staff. I believe that all even numbered years (2012-14-16 etc) should be west of the Rockies and all odd years (2013-15-17 etc) should be east of the Mississippi. East Coast and middle America will have a close location to attend and the West Coast and middle America would have the same. It would be nice for all rallies be close to a major family attraction (Six Flags- Disney World- Sea World- Nasa). This would allow Families Make it a vacation for the whole Family. This might attract the families with children. Just a thought.

Jaaybird, Welcome to the Forum. I am sorry that Coach Net had to ask you so many questions, however they need to know the information to get the closest service to you. I am sure they are also sorry that they don't have service companies every 10 miles along every route in the USA. As for the driver trying to "fleece us", this was not Coach Nets Fault. I am sure that if your brought this to their attention that that service company would be dropped from their call list. I believe that Coach Net did just what they needed to do to get you service as soon as was possible. The name you should be expounding on should be the service company that tryed to Fleece You. There are a lot of RVers out there that would like to know who to avoid. Good luck and are glad that you had the spare tire so you didn't have to buy one from the company sent to service you. By the way did the company sent out call you to check on your location? Did Coach Net keep in touch with your to asure you were taken care of? They have always followed up when I needed them.

JohnT, If the light fixture you are replacing have a small push and turn bulb, it is a 12 volt. You can get 120 volt screw in incandescent bulbs but they are special. The old bulbs, if they are what I described, can be found at any auto part house. To get screw in 12 volt incandescent bulbs you will have to go to an RV or Marine supply house. Might I suggest that you go to a RV supply house and see what they have to replace your fixtures.

I don't know, with todays electronics, why a person would change tire sizes and not have their speedometer recalibrated. One, this would give a response to the Warranty Co. that your mileage was accurate and two, it would sure help eliminate the possibility of tickets because your spedometer was wrong.

Welcome to the Forum slowe. Keep a RV park guide handy. I would use it and http://rvparkreviews.com to check out the parks along your route. Each day you are planning on traveling estimate where you might want to end up for the night. Then you can check on parks in that area. Since it seems that you are in no hurry to get a special location, I would make my destination each day you travel, a spot that sounds interesting. Spend two nights. This way you will be able to see the local sights, spend the night and travel the next. Too often we are in such a hurry that we miss lots of nice places and wonderful people along the way. So go, relax and enjoy this wonderful country of ours. Note from Moderator: I corrected the link per Don's post below. Thanks Don.

Welcome to the Forum. Your Jeep Wrangler weighs 3,740 lbs as per the towing guide. A braking system is required in most states for that weight. You didn't say what kind of MH you have. You will need to have your Steering wheel unlocked to tow. and if you are set on using the BrakeMaster unit you will need power to your unit. However when you have the power on your mileage will rack up just like your were driving it. Might I suggest that you have a 12 volt source (your MH) connected to your Jeep straight to a aux. (Cig. lighter) receptical, fused of course. This will supply you with power and not drain your Jeep's battery. Then I would go to a mechanic and have them remove the steering wheel locking pin so you won't have to turn on your key. By doing this you can remove your key, lock the doors and feel secure that someone will not try to steal your Jeep at WalMart.

Bob, as Brett said, Welcome to the Forum. Can you hear the air releasing when you press and hold down the dump button? Our last coach had the same problem and found the solenoid valves that release the air had the exhaust ports clogged with dirt dobbers nest. I cleaned the ports and was then able to dump the air. As Brett also asked what kind of system do you have?

dbik86i, I have traveled Hwy 69 in Oklahoma for the last 40+ years. We were on it in the MH the first week in September. I can assure you that it has not gotten any better. Of all the Hwys in OK it has to be the worst. All long the way you will see the trucks driving in the left lane because it it a little bit smoother, but not much. On our last time through there I told the wife that I would drive to OK City and take I-35 before I would take the MH on that road again, and we live in McKinney, TX. Hwy 69 is the true meaning of "Shake Rattle and Roll".

Gary, If you don't have a packet of manuals for your coach you need to contact the Dealer where you purchased your coach. If you bought it from an individual you need to check with them. Have you contacted the coach mfg.? They should know how or who to send you to.

Kellyfrank Is the TV original to your coach? If so it is not Digital. They didn't make digital TVs in 2000. Have you tried to hook it up to cable TV or a satellite receiver and dish? If so did you then get a picture? Do you have a digital TV that you can take out to the coach and see if it picks up any stations? Lot of questions but sorry no answers yet. I look forward to your solution. My B-in-law has your same problem. I told him to take it to a shop. Good Luck.

Excessive Brake Dust Accumulations, 2011 HR / Monaco
hermanmullins replied to dfw1ema's topic in Chassis
Welcome to the Forum. Being a new coach your brakes may be experiencing a break in cycle and the dust may soon go away. However it wouldn't hurt to take your coach to a truck shop (preferably a Navistar dealer) that can inspect your brakes. If they do find a problem they may be able to correct the problem under warranty. Good luck -
Tom said, "I've got to have large windows for light and ventilation." Tom, your correct about the windows and ventilation, I've been spending too much time looking in the mirrors, that make my coach soo much larger inside. Even the dark wood that I love, looks brighter in the sun light. I see by your changing locations that you and Lou are racking up lots of frequent driving points. Can't wait to see where you'll will be next.

Gerald Scott, Welcome to the Forum. I will take the different route to the inside colors of Motor homes. I agree that the lighter colors do make the inside seem more spacious. My wife and I had boats before we moved to MHs. I for one like the darker wood tones. They remind us of the beautiful bright work in a nice cruiser. That is why I liked the model name called the "Land Yacht", I think it was a Air Stream. I guess that is why there are Black car and white cars, Fords and Chevrolets. Good luck and Happy RVing.

Mike, Welcome to the Forum. In your service bay there is a water manifold with shut offs for all the water lines both hot and cold. They are all marked as what it serves. Check and see if your shower valve in the service bay might be turned off. Also you may have something in the cold water side of your shower valve. You should have access to your valve from inside the shower. There is a hex set screw holding the handle on and 2 phillips screws holding the cover on. When those are removed you should have access to the valve body. If you can open the valve you should find what is blocking your water. If you find the water valve is shut off have someone inside the coach to check for leaks when you turn on the value to look for leaks because there might be a reason why the valve was closed. Hope these are helpful.

Poor Repair Service on Onan Generator
hermanmullins replied to beamer704's topic in General Discussion
Paul, The best advertising is Quality Work and Good Service. The worst advertising is Poor Quality and Bad Service. You have started by just speaking out on the forum. Family Motor Coaching has had a forum in the magazine for help with matters like your, but I haven't seen it lately. However MotorHome Magazine has a Collum call HOT LINE. They will try to resolve problems such as yours. At the same time it give the company that gave bad service the worst advertising possible. If you can get your hands on a copy of MotorHome look on the page "Contact MotorHome" and look at "Resolve a Conflict". You will find all you need. Hope this is of some help. Have a great time in AZ. -
Ed & Vickie, Welcome to FMCA and the Forum. On this web site you can find FMCA Chapters in your area. Check them out. See when and where they have Rallies scheduled. If one is where you can go, go and meet some really great people. You will make new friends and learn a great deal about any RV topic you want. So again, Welcome to FMCA, now go, meet, and enjoy.

Bill & Brett, You are both right on the mark about designers. Before any man, woman or child can be a designer of cars, boats or RVs they should have to spend 1 year (a full 12 months) in an internship doing the mechanical work. An example from our past, who ever told the designers of the 57 Chevrolet that the air conditioner box should cover the complete right side of the engine where to changing the spark plugs required removing the fender well. I know you can think of a lot more. Gosh venting feels good. Have a good day.

Steve, how is the window you need to replace held in? If it is a match to your old window it should go back in in reverse order of the unit you removed. Be sure to have sealant handy when putting it back in.
