Carl, The quote was from the TRUCK tire web site. http://www.michelintruck.com/reference-materials/manuals-bulletins-and-warranties/ The heading of this bulletin was "Service Life for RV/Motorhome Tires". So yes I think it is relevant to RV/Motorhome tires. This bulletin also shows a date code. Bill

Allowing Towables Vote At Indianapolis In July
wildebill308 replied to jeff753's topic in FMCA Feedback
I have spend quite a bit of time reading on the FMCA website and can't find where it talks about the $10.00 coupon. This needs to be HIGHLIGHTED and promoted. I even printed a app to read and can't see it. I usually keep a couple of apps handey. Bill -
My observation is that tires between 7-10 years old fail at a significantly higher rate than tiers between 5-7 years old. I wonder why Michelin would say this if age was not a consideration. "While most tires will need replacement before they achieve 10 years, it is recommended that any tires in service 10 years or more from the date of manufacture, including spare tires, be replaced with new tires as a simple precaution even if such tires appear serviceable and even if they have not reached the legal wear limit. For tires that were on an original equipment vehicle (i.e., acquired by the consumer on a new vehicle), follow the vehicle manufacturer’s tire replacement recommendations, when specified (but not to exceed 10 years)." This is from a Michelin Technical Bulletin dated May 15, 2006, I have seen nothing to change it. Bill

To change your notification settings. Go to Account then account settings, then click on Notification Settings change what you want then click on save. You can also add your coach info to your signature by going to Signature. I think the biggest bang for the buck right now is to get a all wheel alignment then weigh the coach and set air pressure based on weight. Let us know if it helps. Bill

Cross Country Trip, Reservations Yes/No
wildebill308 replied to Bob26894's question in Destinations/Attractions
I haven't had that much of a problem geting around in my 38ft coach with the toad. Yes if you try to drive through every little town you will have problems driving a car. The outher problem is there are a lot of campgrounds that close after Labor Day. I talked to a guy who had a campground at Newfound Lake about staying open later. He was close to a big ski area. He told me the city would not let him stay open. I know the owner of Worden Pond Family Campground in RI and they close right after Labor Day. They open Memorial day. Joe you might like this place $45.00 for 50 amp and water. Dump site or pump out. Great location. -
Cross Country Trip, Reservations Yes/No
wildebill308 replied to Bob26894's question in Destinations/Attractions
I had planned on going over the Tappan Z but couldn't get the map navigation program to go that way. So I tried routing to the town on the outher side of the TZ so it would take me that way. I thought we were good to go. Apparently it changed and yes it was routing me to that town buy going up 95 till I crossed the GW then going north on the outher side of the river to that town. Note to self ALWAYS confirm routes on map. When I looked online before that trip they said I needed a Commercial account. I ended up not geting it online because of the time constraints. (it would get to me 10 days after I left) I ended up doing a walk in in New Hampshire. There they told me I didn't need a commercial E-ZPass. They also instructed me to put the transponder for the toad in its foil pouch so it couldn't be read when in tow. When it is in tow it is charged as a "trailer" at a lower rate than if it was driven. They never asked how much the coach weighed and it has worked flawlessly. Bill -
Personally I would get the 50 amp spot and then you don't have to worry. Bill

wildebill308 replied to Bob26894's question in Destinations/Attractions
I drove I-95 from DC to RI. This was before I got my E-ZPass and the toll on the George Washington bridge was $76.00 cash only. I don't know what it would be with my pass and I don't intend to find out. Bill -

If you are going to be traveling in the North East that you get an E-ZPass for the coach and for your toad. Saves money on tolls and much easier not stopping to pay tolls. Bill -
Against The Law To Idle, Gas Or Diesel
wildebill308 replied to rlbarkleyii's topic in Type A motorhomes
This is one of those "diaper" answers,, Depends on how mechanical you are. I used the Banks set up http://bankspower.com/ I have the Economind diesel tuner and the IQ for display. I get boost from the computer (ECM). I had to install a probe to get EGT as Cummins does not monitor EGT. Just had to drill a hole and tape it before the turbo. There is a drawing and instructions in this pub. I was pleased how fast the response time was with their thermocouple. The almost instantaneous change lets you see what small changes to throttle position or load can do to temperatures. https://s3.amazonaws.com/assets.bankspower.com/sdc/manual/96828_cummins_classa_economind_v5.pdf I did install a separate boost line for something else. You can't do it the way they show as there is a inner convoluted sleeve in that part of the intake. I backed up to the elbow and it worked fine. Any questions I will be glad to help. Bill -
Against The Law To Idle, Gas Or Diesel
wildebill308 replied to rlbarkleyii's topic in Type A motorhomes
That isn't bad, I wonder how it can run that cool. I normally see EGT's of 350+ at idle. I normally try to get my EGT below 400 before shutdown. Bill -
Air Force 1 vs Roadmaster Brakemaster Systems
wildebill308 replied to punxsyjumper's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
(no need to pump the brakes to get the air out) Actually what you are doing is bleeding the vacuum of the power boost on the brakes. I would do this regardless otherwise the braking force will lock up your toad brakes the first couple of times you apply your brakes. Bill -
Martin, welcome to the forum. Can you get a better picture? (it is pretty blurry) Where is it located? What happens when you play with the buttons with power on? Bill

Gee I have fuel tank envy!!! I only have a 90 gallon tank and seldom wait till it is 1/4 before filling most times just under 1/2. If I wait till 1/4 that still gives me over 550 miles before I need to look for fuel. Bill -
They do great work and ask nothing for it. Many kids would not have a nice warm quilt if it wasn't for these great members. Bill

FMCA & Verizon Offers Specifics?
wildebill308 replied to smitty777's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
Are you using that "beechwood aged" water again? Herman likes that. Just remember giving him a turn on the beer bong is not waterboarding. Bill -

See he has an insider who is going to leak details. There may be a Russian connection and there is probbabley some type of collusion going on. Bill -
Brett I have had tires that I still liked but were past their useful life. Bill

Welcome to the forum. Where are you going in Main? In the North East in a lot of areas it is already to late to get a reservation. Are you going to DC? Bill -
I use the 7 year as a general guide. By the way welcome to the forum. This also depends on what the tires look like. If you can see something going wrong then it is time right now regardless of the age. I believe the trailer/tow behind groupe uses 5 years. Bill

2017 Jeep Cherokee After Towing Neutral Reset
wildebill308 replied to f448596's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Welcome to the forum. I don't have any experience with your toad how ever I think I read about something similar. One poster found he had to do the process of setting it up for tow exactly the way the instructions stated and the same for taking it out of "tow mode". He made up a checklist to be shure he didn't miss or do a step out of order. I believe he was reporting the same problems. Try doing a search or read some of the postings under the "towing" heading. Let us know what the fix is Bill -
Flat Towing Versus Trailered
wildebill308 replied to WILLYSGASSER's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
That is the way I do it. Park the "Condo" and go explore. One trip last year we did 14 National parks, 5 presidential libraries and stayed in 35 different campgrounds in 28 states. I put over 8,000 miles on the couch and over 10,000 on the toad. I still can't imagine the hassle of fighting a trailer. Well I have seen it and it won't be me. Yes I can see taking extra bikes ect to a campground and back home but for extended travel not so much. Bill -
Thanks Brett, I forgot that one. Bill

I agree, the alignment is set by Ford before it is shipped. Then they build a house on it. Some of the older owner's manual use to say that you should get an alignment after you are loaded like you were going on a trip. Also as Brett said find out atleast what your axle weights (individual corner are better) are it is better than nothing. In reality you set the tire preshure the same on an axle based on the highest weight of that axle. Said anouther way if your left tier requires more air based on the weight, set the right to the same preshure. You should be able to get the alignment done locally. I recommend an all wheel alignment that way you know every thing is tracking properly. Bill
