  1. We defer to Brett's knowledge of all things Cat. Not adding till at or below the bottom mark will also help see if it is blowing it out because of a incorrectly marked/calibrated dip stick. Your mileage doesn't sound that bad. The faster you go the more fuel it takes. Bill
  2. The only caution is to watch where you are in the lane as the dolly will track outside the track of the coach. You can be in the nice smooth lane and the dolly is running on the rumble strip. You also need to be aware when turning as the same applies. I saw a guy drag his car and dolly through a ditch because he turned to close to the edge. Let me know if you have any questions. Bill
  3. Try this. This is using Chrome. Go to your account, click on settings, then settings area, there you will find the box to enter your Signature content. Save it when you are done. Internet explorer looks different but it is basically the same. In settings find the “Signature” and add it there is a place to select View signatures I believe the default is on. When using Internet Explorer. In the top right hand of the page click on your name and you will get a dropdown list. Click on account settings. Under the heading “OVERVIEW” click on signature. This will open a place to enter what you want in your signature. Bill
  4. I am with Jim, I like Buc-ee's and if you have never stopped at one it is kind of a surprise. The fuel prices are usually the lowest, Way more pumps than you can normally imaging at a fuel stop. The outher stick is LOTS of clean restrooms so no waiting. You do remember how it was traveling in a car? They make up for the gas prices by selling Buc-ee Balls in the convenience store. The New Braunfels gas center is the largest convenience store in the world at 68,000 square feet. Billl
  5. Jim, tell them how many diesel and gas pumps there were at Buc-ee's. Finally got to fill up today after the trip last week. Kroger in Burleson Tx $2.099 I had some points so first 35 gal was $1.929., beats the Loves at exit 60 in Amarillo $2.649. Bill
  6. If you can look a little further west there is some nice weather in the Flagstaff area. A couple years ago we were in Phoenix and it was HOT 112-114 the weather forecast the hi in Flagstaff 72 the next couple of days. We went to Flagstaff the next day. I would use RV Parkey to find a spot. Bill
  7. Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately that is the case more than more. Bill
  8. The safest practice is to inflate to max on sidewall until you know what your weights are then you can adjust them. Bill
  9. I would use one of the "carwash" products in it so you leave a little wax on it to protect it. Bill
  10. Welcome to the forum as we struggle on. I would try some of that "Insta-Gone" that Winnebago recommended or try a little bleach solution, carefully to see if it helps. Bill
  11. Bill A. Have you tried just re running the same card? I have just re run the card when the pump shut off. I like Buckee's and they are expanding. There is a new station that is expanding fairly quickly called Fuel City. They have cheap prices and dedicated truck lanes. https://www.fuelcity.com/fuel-city-dallas So far just in North Texas. rshinds, Keep your eyes open many gas stations have dedicated truck lanes, usually off to the side and separate from the car lanes. After a while you will know where you can get in and out. Bill
  12. Welcome to the forum. As Brett and Tom mentioned, Gasbuddy is probably #1 but each chain hat there own program. Pilot/flying J, Allstays, Big Truck Stops combines several of the major players into one place. Walmart and Sam's club both have apps to help you find them. When not at the diesel lanes at the truck stop I look for diesel on the outside islands I try to see my way out before pulling in. The outside pumps will give you more room next to the pumps in most cases. Bill
  13. Welcome to the forum. Does it go down after the first quart? Does it get to the low mark on the stick? What is your milage? Bill
  14. You could but be extremely careful not to block airflow. If there is room try putting it on the outside of the compartment. Bill
  15. Welcome to the forum. There are a LOT of good used quality diesel pushers out there under $300K. Bill
  16. Ouch!!! Have any idea what caused it? Can you rebuild it? Bill
  17. Herman. here is the contact info for Colorado Landing RV Mobile, 64 E Bluffview Dr, La Grange, TX 78945, coloradolanding.com, (979) 968-9465 Have stayed there a couple of times. Bill
  18. I had not heard of it before but there were a flurry of post about the problem. I think it happens when the unit sits for long periods of time with a high silica antifreeze. Try doing a google search on it. Bill
  19. The radiator was plugged with "crystals" and shutting down because of hi temp. I think they were silica crystals. Cummins replaced the radiator and the belt. I did go talk to the Cummins shop after to see what kind of antifreeze they used and to verify what I had been told. Bill
  20. What do you mean by this statement? "we don't have a break system because of weight." You better check carefully the law in the states you plan to travel in. In some it is as low as 1500 # and some use a stopping guide not based on weight. For example Wyoming requires. "Achieve specific stopping distance. 40 ft @ 20 mph." Bill
  21. This is from Hemmings.com, you can go there to read the complete article. https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2013/12/06/tech-101-brake-fluids-whats-different-about-them-and-why-should-you-care/ DOT 5 is silicone-based brake fluid and is used in most new cars today. DOT 5 is expensive, but it has a dry boiling point of 356 degrees. Newer brake rotors tend to be smaller and thinner, which means they disperse heat a lot less efficiently. Also, DOT 5 does not absorb any moisture. DOT 5 will not harm painted surfaces and acts as a weather barrier for your brake system, preventing rust. DOT 5 can be used as an upgrade or replacement for both DOT 3 and 4, but should not be mixed with any of the other fluids. The procedures to convert your DOT 3 or 4 systems to the silicone-based DOT 5 are similar to the Dot 4 conversion procedure mentioned above. Silicone-based brake systems tend to be more difficult to bleed, but once this is accomplished, a DOT 5-filled system will resist rust better and last longer than the other formulations. Silicone brake fluid is also much lighter in cold temperatures, only about 900 weight at -40 F. A new formulation has recently been developed called DOT 5.1. This fluid is identical to DOT 5 silicone in both boiling point and viscosity; however, it is compatible in the poly-glycol based systems and anti-lock brakes as well. DOT 5.1 can be used in place of either of the poly-glycol-based fluids even though it has half the viscosity of DOT 3 or DOT 4 fluid. In fact, DOT 5.1 can be intermixed with the other non-silicone based fluids. Bill
  22. Yes I do and it helps keep it cooler than trying to cool the outside air. You may need to upgrade. Bill
  23. I agree. You better have your reservations made already. Finding any place to camp in the North East is a challenge I think FREE and NO NEIGHBORS is a great fantasy. Bill
  24. Welcome to the forum. Don't let Herman pick on you. Sometimes when searching for different subjects it does pull up older threads. I have missed the date it was posted before. Bill
