  1. I must be lucky. I tow 4 down now and I can't find any damage chips etc that can be directly attributed to towing. I would never tow a toad with any kind of cover on it. dust and dirt will get under it and destroy the paint. The buffeting of the cover acts like a big sander. I knew up front I didn't want to use a trailer. Watching people struggle with them in different campgrounds only reaffirmed that opinion. Trailers also limit what campgrounds you can use. Bill
  2. You are absolutely right. Some of the areas they have finished already have too much traffic and need to be re widened. Bill
  3. Sometimes the simple things are the hardest to see. Bill
  4. I am much happier they are testing that theory than me. Bill
  5. Does your milage go down when you have a head wind? Bill
  6. Yep, as some say the best coast. I would also look at the Texas hill country. Look at Fredericksburg, San Antonio, Bandera. In the valley look at McAllen, Harlingen, Corpus Christi. That will keep you busey for a while. Bill
  7. Welcome to the forum. We have to assume you have a gas coach because you haven't filled out your profile or put it in your signature. Brett has some good advice. Also don't wait till you NEED gas start looking at 1/2 tank no latter than 1/4. This way if you have to pass on some locations you aren't walking. Make notes on which stations (brands) are laid out to give you easy access. I always try for an outside pump. This way you have more room to maneuver as in watch your "tail swing". Bill
  8. This is almost as common of a thread as the fuel mileage threads. OK, I am in the middle I always leave the black closed and sometimes leave the gray open. Mostly when using the washer. I have a flush system in my black tank so I can use that to flush the hose. The more important part is the clear plastic elbow that lets me see if the tank is flowing clear. Also make sure you close the gray tank before dumping the black. I don't want my black back filling my gray.. Can we do a thread on mileage now? Bill
  9. That sounds like a great trip. I liked the Coeur d'Alene area and will be back that way. Earlier you were talking about places to spend winters. Nevada is ok but I like a greener landscape. Have you looked at the Texas Rio Grande Valley or the coast? Bill
  10. It might be possible to use the bad wire to pull a new wire through. Bill
  11. This is a heads up about a major road closure. I-35W North of Fort Worth will be shut down both ways all weekend till Monday morning as reported on Chanel 8 website. The main northbound lanes of I-35W from Western Center Boulevard to U.S. 81/287 will be closed Friday, May 19 at 9 p.m. to Monday, May 22 at 6 a.m. due to a construction project. http://www.wfaa.com/traffic/construction-to-close-part-of-i-35w-in-fort-worth-over-weekend/440778987 Bill
  12. Great!!! Take pictures before you unplug anything. Glad you found it. Bill
  13. Welcome to the forum. It depends on what model of 2008 Escape you have. Both of the places I linked to say NO to the one he has. Bill
  14. I used PassPort America at Oasis. Yes Oasis is a little more but worth it. I stayed at Thousand Trails and I won't go back it took 3 spots before we found one that had power at the pedestal. Bill
  15. Look at your meter it may have a circuit tester feature. When you touch the probe to both ends of a wire it will sound a tone if you have a circuit. This is useful when you can't see a wire because it is in a bundle or behind something. Bill
  16. Have you consulted your owner's manual? Both the FMCA towing guide and Remco say it is not towable 4 down and you need to use a dolly. https://www.fmca.com/motorhome/towing/204-towing-guides-towing-four-wheels-down.html http://www.remcoindustries.com/Towing/Store.php Bill
  17. We were at a rally about 3 years ago there. Nice place but they get premium prices for all those going to Trade Days. Just looked at website. "Premium Pull Through Trade Days Weekend $69/day". There are several RV parks but no cheap ones during Trade Days. Bill
  18. I had the same set up. Simple enough to double check. Check voltage at #1 with shore power connected and with it disconnected. The #1 circuit was there to power your icemaker when not on shore power. You can run the NO Cold on gas or electric but for the ice maker to work when on gas you still need 110. Made me smile because it made the change over that much easier. Bill
  19. Hope you are feeling better. Now back to recruiting. Bill
  20. It still sounds like the relay. The relay clicks but doesn't shut off power. Have you measured power with one of the outher relays in this spot? Bill
  21. Might be a good time to look at the tire chart in the coach. Bill
  22. Hopefully you can get the drawings soon. Here is anouther guess. Can you determine which read switch is on the circuit that stayes "hot" or powered up. It could be the magnet on the reed switch is A, not lined up properly or B, not working properly. You said they all shower -0- voltage when you held a magnet to them. Bill
  23. I agree that the real growth will come from the ground up not the top down. By the way why did you stop with one? I am about 6 ahead of you and I haven't stopped. Bill
