Onan Service Calling For Inverter To Be Replaced. $$$$
kaypsmith replied to crb13563's topic in Electrical
As Rich pointed out, check the battery and cables. Fault code 13 tells to do this step according to the manual. I would certainly try a good battery with clean connections before committing to an inverter replacement. Good luck with this. -
I have the raise and lower TV behind the fake fireplace straight across from the couch. We love this setup, I always hated turning my head to watch TV over the front windshield. Also use the jack antenna, works well if close enough to over the air stations.

There is a couple of 9100 motors listed on e-bay. In the search line just type in 9100 RV awning motor. Have replaced one that was ordered there, worked very well.

Can you hook one receiver directly without the 4X4 Matrix in line and verify the satellite antenna system is working? If it does, the Genie system may be a good alternative. I also have the Genie system at home, and we love it.

Very good report, glad to hear that it worked out well. Kay

Thanks for the info, unfortunately I have the auto transmission, which can't be towed four down. I wasn't even thinking about manual trans., as most manuals can be towed 4 down. The wireing mods that I spoke of are still true, any intentionally cut wireing of the harness, including to add diodes for the rear lights, brake, turn signal, and tail, according to the dealer and Kia motors will void any factory warranty. I only added this so anyone can check for themselves. Thanks again, Kay

Kia says no on 2014 model, which is the one that I drive. I use tow dolly for this one. Of course you didn't mention your year model, but I think it is the same on all of them. If your unit is still in the factory warranty, any mods will void your warranty, this includes wiring in the tail lights. I checked with the manufacturer and this is what I was told by them.

I have a Magellan, and I learned on the first trip not to tell it the shortest distance, it did the same thing in that setting.

Camp Gulf is beautiful at Destin Fl., Top Sail is a Fl State Park about 30 miles east of Destin on hgy, 98 it is a very pretty camp about half the price of Camp Gulf, and with your Florida residency, you will be entitled to half off of that.

Flat Towing An Early Ford Bronco
kaypsmith replied to cdfendley's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
If the transfer case is a manual one, has 4H 2H and 4L with neutral included with the manual shift, all you will have to do is put the transfer case into neutral, and the transmission in park, you will be ready to go. To test it, put the transfer case into neutral, shift the transmission into drive, if the engine revs, and the Bronco does not move, you should be good to go. Please remember to put the auto trans into park for towing if the above works. Kay -
Been there and done that with dish many years ago, NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Residential Fridge Turning Off And On
kaypsmith replied to Peggy Headrick's topic in Systems and Appliances
Magnum energy claims to be pure sine wave. I wonder if it goes off and back on, on shore power, or only when used with the inverter power? Also when it goes off, does lights inside go off and the temp control reset itself? -
Carl, have you tried a PM to Bill?

Carl, after vacuuming, try a magnet on the area, if not aluminum, or stainless, it will pick up much that the vacuum leaves behind. Kay

Ditto Rich, I also lean towards the circuit board, and if an older unit, cleaning as described certainly helps. An added note for vinegar, dip a paper towel, or clean rag into vinegar, then swab the inside of the kitchen faucet, after removing the aerator and cleaning it with vinegar. This will help rid the system of that musty tasting drinking water. Kay

Premier Car Tow Dolly RV Trailer
kaypsmith replied to pacurran's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
I haven't used one, but I recommend that anyone using a tow dolly, be sure that there is a braking system on the tow dolly, and I don't find any information indicating that this one can be bought with brakes. Adding brakes is pretty expensive, for this reason I recommend looking for one with factory installed braking. Many states will not allow a tow vehicle without brakes, and adding braking to your towed car kindly defeats the purpose of a tow dolly. Welcome to the forum, and happy motoring, Kay -
Today I did venture to Sleepy Holler, sad to say that I was not impressed. The reviews that nitehawk stated are very true. Parking on grass and we have had some icy conditions this past week, so a lot of muddy camp sites, very close together. There were many campers there, it appears that many of the campers there must be permanent residents. Gravel roads throughout and not too well maintained. Also as stated the fee's are according to the length of the camper. On a scale of 10, I would rate 5. I am surprised that GoodSam is recognized there. The people were friendly, and that's about the best sign. Hope that this helps, Kay

Words You Post On Social Media Can Hurt You
kaypsmith replied to wildebill308's topic in General Discussion
I have worked in the computer industry for 31 years, and I still do not do social media. I really don't want people other than the ones that I call on the phone, or e-mail directly, knowing what my family looks like, or when I'm on a business, or camping trip. And many other things that can happen because of social media. By the way, I work closely with state and county government, and big brother monitors social media for taxing purposes, such as looking through the pictures and brags about changes in housing, so they can increase property and personal property taxes. Sorry for the long rant, but I'm in agreement with you Bill. -
I hope Tireman9 reads your post, if he doesn't respond try a pm (private message) to him. He is well versed as that is what he did for years, and currently does forums at some of the rallies. You can look at the date codes on any size tire to determine the age of the tire, If the sidewalls are cracking, that's not a good sign. Tires with too much age is not a good thing regardless of how much tread is left. Most of us have to replace our tires long before they are actually worn out because most rv'ers don't put that many miles on our rigs. Also you can take into account that the larger rv's require larger tires than a smaller class c, hence a much larger outlay on the initial cost of tires. Taking this into account is why the savings on a set of smaller tires will be much less than a rig with 22.5 tires versus 16, also some of the larger rigs have eight tires instead of six. Welcome to FMCA and hope you will have many happy tales, and trails, Kay

Have not been to Sleepy Hollar yet, but rv reviews don't look well for this site. It's about 7 miles east of Jasper proper, I still plan to look at it as soon as icy conditions cease in the area. But about 17 miles north of Jasper is Clear Creek, it is an USFS park located on Smith lake, one of Alabama's prettiest lakes. Have been there and will go again.

I agree with DD69, should be worth it in the long run.

I live 40 minutes from there, and will venture there in the next few days and give a drive through review. Within 30 minutes of the same place there are two Army Corp parks, on the Warrior River, Deer Lick, and Burchfield Branch. They are a little secluded, as they are on the water, both are great places, if you are just looking in the area. Kay

Advice On Towing A Trailer With 43' Allegro Bus
kaypsmith replied to Showinoff's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Many law enforcement officers will actually turn their head the other way and letting it pass because of gray areas. Triple towing is one of those areas, but the state D.O.T. officers are well versed on the laws, they are the dreaded ones that will get you. They have the same authority as a state trooper, and usually love to prove you wrong. I do contract work for state and county government in Alabama, and know a lot of the guys out there, and knowing them doesn't help in case of an infraction. Good luck motoring, Kay. -
Electric Clock and Modified Sine Wave Inverter
kaypsmith replied to jlandon13399's topic in Electronics
Parallel on the dc input side, PLEASE don't try to parallel the ac output. PSW is wonderful but still pricey, as Rich points out the second PSW for necessary items is a good idea.
