  1. Herman, the answer to your Q is right below Brett's post. Carl
  2. Joe. Both ways will work, I like Herman's best. I have a Webber along with the green canisters of gas. I did the same thing your doing and love the extra space, it's right behind my connection for air hose, so I use it to store the hose and a separate bin for my cable connectors and extra cable! As Herman said, empty tank, happy Joe...we don't want you to learn to fly by gas! Carl
  3. I had a combo once and it would not keep up with me...shorts, golf shirt underwear and socks, OK. Long pants, towels, bedding, Not OK! I have stackable now and love it. Wash up to 13 pounds, dry to 23 pounds. The only thing I take out to wash is a load of towels, blanket and jeans! I run a load about every 10 days. If I was full time in coach, probably once a week avg. It uses 3/4 Tspoon of soap per wash. Carl
  4. I can't respond to that on Forum! LOL 3 weeks to Perry! I see the pros and cons to the topper. One big con is that you forget to clean under it...out of sight, out of mind! Also in a storm situation it can tear just like any awning! It will keep a lot of debris out, but if it was not there, I would probably spray it more often and wax the slide top! Carl
  5. I learn a lot, just by reading about your trucking experiences. Thanks for that! I still can't wrap my mind around running a 600+ in a cookie cutter DP. The newer AC Tradition (mine) has a 500 standard and 600 option, at 51K pounds, that is ridiculous. I can understand a 600 in a Newell or Liberty coach as they are around 25K heavier than me...however, I wonder how much of that extra weight is because of beefed up chassis and big engine? Carl
  6. You'll get no negative from me! That's why my coach don't come out and play in the snow/ice! If I want snow I'll fly and stay in a warm cozy lodge Carl

    Guages On Dash

The problem was found after about 20 minutes. The connection point of the ground wire was good, but the wire was cut in half. Connected up a new wire and tied it to the rest of the wire bundle...I also had him mark it and draw me a crude elect. diagram! All my fuses are in an outside compartment where the elect. switch for generator slide out is...I had a plastic box made, with a door to keep fuses completely dry right after I bought this coach! It was $145 per hr. for RV and $132 for trucks! Carl
  8. Thank you Herman, it's such a pleasure to drop in on Forum! You still need to work on your spelling... Oh, I'm still pet less. Carl
  9. Thank you. Will be looking at ground for instrument panel and fix my problem! Carl

    Guages On Dash

Joe, the lights quit yesterday, I'm thinking it's a fuse. Or could be something else since the tech had the dash apart fixing Silverleaf...it works! Carl
  11. No dash gauges lights! I'm at Cummins and they charge $145 an hour....HELP! Carl
  12. You can get all the info on FMCA Roadside Assistance program by clicking on FMCA Main Site, Benefits! After reading everything, I came to the conclusion that it's best suited for Class A Gas (up to 34'), B and C (gas). Not a DP, unless it's a 32'! Way to many disclaimers and restrictions for $109 per yr.! I will stay with CN. GS was fantastic when they had one price fits all,,, But back then a 36' was a monster RV! Carl
  13. FIVE. AGM is the next thing on my list. "Auto Start", when I'm traveling, but have to turn off in my storage garage! Carl
  14. I got a letter, 3 weeks ago from EZ Tag, telling me that I'm good on all Texas Toll Roads. Same if you have TexTag! The bad news for tourists is that not all Toll roads have cash only lanes anymore...TexTag takes a picture of your License Plate and mails you an invoice if you don't have a tag, but Harris County (Houston), sends out a ticket and it is more than what you would have been charged had they had a cash booth! What makes it hard is that not all Toll roads in Texas is the same cost per mile! Also, there is 2 different billing company's! The one for TexTag is still a disaster. Carl
  15. That's cut and dry and so is, stay away from "RV Masters" in Houston, TX! Carl

Bill. Big Welcome to FMCA and the Forum! If you have not done so yet, check out the clubs/Chapters on FMCA main site. It's a great way to meet other folks that share your interest. Also, we have our annual FMCA reunion in W. Springfield, Mass. coming up later this Summer! Lots of activities for every age, Vendors and factory reps. So, before and after you take delivery, enjoy the ride. "It's all about having fun"! Carl
  17. Here I was standing up for Herman and I went down in flames! We are a sorry group. Can't claim birth right, just Texan by choice Carl
  18. Would some one please explain to me, why we have Slide topper awnings? Before I decided to keep the coach I have, I looked at all the high end coaches (one million or more). Liberty, Monarch and Newell, non of them have toppers! Almost every time I'm in a Park for a week or two, I have to take a broom and then spray under my topper to remove dirt, leaves and bugs. Carl
  19. Yea. It was heading North on I-45, just shy of Hwy.6, I suspect it was someone from Save the Dolphins on Galveston Island! It was not moving fast with the North wind we had yesterday morning...24 gusting 30! I'm really surprised it was moving! Carl
  20. What I don't understand is why would you need or want a 600 or 650 in a glorified camper to begin with!? Per the Cummins rep that came by So. Plains Cummins, where I currently am camped, the 650 is the cats meow now, and the problems they had is behind them. OK, makes me wonder why Cummins has a downturn in sales and have laid off 2,000 workers?! There are 16 coaches here waiting for service, new to 3 years old from DeMontrond RV in Houston, 43' to 45' and 450 to 525 HP. No 650! Carl
  21. FIVE. I don't do "really cold"! Just as I avoid 100+ in summer, unless I'm rolling thru on my way to the mountains. Like 108 in Roswell and 80 in Ruidoso, NM. Besides that, I do have heated bays, don't you? Carl
  22. Herman. Knock on wood. It has not happened in 40+ years! So, you'll get old and grey waiting.... I forgot to mention that for the past 26 years, all of my stuff in in the name of a Corporation and it pay's for the umbrella policy! I personally can't be sued. Carl
  23. Feel the same here! There are lots of places in Texas that I would like more power, however I know that it comes with a price, so I just downshift and enjoy the wonderful scenery! There are plenty of hills on I-10 West of Bourne that slow me down. Unless the road to Estes Park in Colorado has changed in the last 5 years, even if I had a 600hp, I could not take the corners any faster than I would do now in 4th gear. Loss of rpm is the biggest culprit on any mountain road for a DP! Save your $$$, be happy, no worry! A Motorhome DP or Gas is not meant to be a sports car! My 2 cents. Carl
